  1. Where would the mounting location be for the EOTech? I'm assuming pretty far forward on the handguard rail?
  2. Ha, no worries. I've found myself encouraging buddies on builds just so I can put them together.
  3. If you don't have all the tools to make that happen I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that would do it for you for free, myself included if you're in the area.
  4. http://www.theonion.com/video/heartbroken-santorum-condemns-gay-marriage-for-two,27497/ Fun vid.
  5. 1. Know how to fight standing up. 2. Know how to fight on the ground. 3. Know how to take the fight from standing up to on the ground decisively.
  6. Rog, I'm responding in the spirit of the original question posted. The caliber of ammo one chooses will give them no advantage in a government collapse with the exception of the available ammo for that caliber will probably be cheaper to acquire. Unless someone is planning to mount an insurgency, the only ammo you'll need is enough to scare off looters and shoot food.
  7. Movie versus reality... Do you think that in these government collapse scenarios there are just scores of dead bodies ripe for the weapons picking? There have been plenty of collapses around the world in the past two decades that would prove otherwise. Look at Syria for example. There's plenty of battlefield recovery going on, but they're having to work for it and the casualty rate of the rebels ain't that good.
  8. My EDC used to be a 4 inch 1911 but I made the switch to Glock a while back. I still carry my 1911 every so often, but am stuck on the Glock. I don't think you can go wrong either way, just be sure to shoot one before you buy so you can get the mechanics down and operate it safely.
  9. I think in that scenario people would understand real quick the meaning of mutually beneficial. I'm thinking less shoot outs in the streets and more of neighbors banding together to defend against lawlessness... using Egypt as the most recent example this is what was going on outside of Tahrir Square. Besides, I think having such a well armed society will contribute to people having better manners.
  10. I think it's far less plausible to expect to survive enough engagements to make battlefield recovery of compatible ammo something to even plan for. It would make more sense in this scenario that any ammo you have access to is through barter, unless there are really that many people here that think they are just that badass that they'll be mixing it up in the streets on a regular basis and actually surviving.

    Tripple squib?

I've seen this happen with AKs on many of my Iraq deployments. Many of the Iraqis would have old unreliable ammo which would burn just enough powder to stick a bullet a few inches down the barrel. I could always tell from the sound it made when they fired, and would book it down the firing line to prevent them from sending another one behind it. I'd knock the bullet back into the chamber using an AK rod and AK MAG as a hammer. Would pop out pretty easily. I've done this a few dozen times over the years and haven't seen a barrel blow up, and I'd have to believe there's been a few stuck bullets I've missed. Not to say it couldn't blow the barrel up but I never saw it happen.
  12. Ugh... This is the kind of crap that makes good people do crazy stuff. I'd like to believe I wouldn't go off the deep end if this happened to me, but part of me sees myself moving to a cabin in Montana and spewing revolution talk. I realize this is Canada we're talking about, but the mindset of Americans is going this direction in the blue states. Just scary stuff... I feel for what my kids are gonna have to go through when they grow up.
  13. Haven't been there yet but thinking of hitting it up tomorrow to test fire a build. Do they have target stands and such there to paste your targets on to?
  14. Prince Harry. There are plenty of servicemembers, retirees, contractors and so on that wear them everywhere. Come to Clarksville and just look around. In no way disrespectful or anything of the like.
  15. Good. Whether he was justified or not, sometimes people react poorly when being victimized by scum. He's a law abiding citizen with no record; glad to see this work out for him.

    Left Hand AR Options?

My uncle is a lefty and bought a stag left handed. He hasn't had any issues.
  17. To answer the OP, yes.
  18. Well, I guess we still don't know the other side. Maybe this woman is a regular loud mouth that seeks confrontation; I'm sure we've all seen those types. In that case the man should know that his wife is a problem. However, I know my wife will go out of her way to avoid conflict and is a very small and defenseless person. If I was to observe a man yelling at her or being aggressive towards her I would step in, and, depending on his posture, would likely hurt him. I get that this may earn me a free ride to jail, but I would rather explain myself in front of a LEO or a judge than allow a man to verbally or physically assault my wife and not step in.
  19. Every problem doesn't require a solution. Things happen and there isn't much that can prevent stupidity, and we shouldn't look to regulate at the expense of responsible folks because an occassional "Bubba" accidentally shoots an innocent. When we aim to regulate stupidity we remove personal responsibility and go down the road of "the government knows what's best for you". Florida permit holders have to go through a class too. Who is to be the authority on how much training is appropriate? Let's just say that an additional day/week/month of pistol safety training would have prevented this from happening; let's just say. So what? Think about that please. If we created a national speed limit of 35 mph on all roads/highways/interstate we could save tens of thousands of lives per year considering that not all crashes are speed related, but most fatalities are.... tens of thousands of lives. Why not beat your chest about that?

    Drill Rifle ?

Yep, rubber duck is the way to go. If he's bent on the feel of a real rifle I have a beat up arisaka rifle i would let go for free, but you'd have to come get it.
  21. That's good you didn't have any issues out of box. I had a few FTF in the first 200 rounds during the "break in" process. Since then runs like a champ.
  22. Yeah, I'd say that it depends on the person. I always had a significant other waiting on me so I didn't want a big deal made... I just wanted a few days privacy.
  23. Is this a wire stock sidefolder? Most should be able to unfold (return to stock position) without depressing the lock. It's designed that way for a reason. If you just pull hard it should release from the folded position. It shouldn't fold up on it's own though. It should be locked firmly in place. I'd have to look at to tell what you're talking about, but I've handled countless wire folders over the years and can tell you when the stock is in the "out" position it should stay that way... for many reasons. Could you post pics of it... some up close ones of the locking mechanism?
