  1. Yes. I learned this the hard way when a friend gave my son her deactivated Blackberry to play with. It no longer had a number assigned to it. We didn't know until the popo showed up....... oops!
  2. I dunno, for someone so irrelevant he sure seems to be able to play puppet master quite well. He practically has a monopoly on the business of race.... he's just gotta edge out Sharpton to control the market. It IS a business to him, and he runs it well.
  3. If things around here start to get that bad I'll be doing the same. For now we don't have meth heads or other shady characters around the gas station I go to.
  4. I hope the success of this series motivates the History Channel to do more like it. I thought it was well put together with good acting to boot.
  5. Yep.
  6. Handgun safeties don't exist to keep kids from shooting themselves, they exist for the shooter. The weapon should have been secured or the child shouldn't have access to that area. The gun is not responsible here.
  7. Make sure they don't surf this site then. They might lose their confidence and stop working!
  8. Criminals are cowards looking for he easiest score to make a buck. With that said, I doesn't mean they aren't dangerous when cornered. I would assume that anyone who breaks into a home that is likely occupied is prepared to defend themselves from the homeowner if caught, or is planning to assault/kill the homeowner to make he job easier. Either way, if you find yourself confronting multiple intruders in your home its safe to say that deadly force is reasonable. Any DA trying to challenge that in the state of Tennessee is going to have a short career.
  9. Bah, don't cloud the facts with anecdotal evidence. The Internet told me 3 inch 1911s don't work!
  10. Logically you are right. However, police ID folks always as SOP. They weren't the ones who initiated to incident, it was whomever dialed 911. They are obligated to investigate. Asking for IDs is the first thing they do. It just seems proper and polite to cooperate rather than get huffy. I agree 100% with their rights, I just think its better to be polite and cooperative.
  11. Yeah man, it's just how it goes. These threads usually end up with someone talking about how stupid it is to OC or how CCers are rolling over for the libs; most likely because their wittle feelings get hurt. Then we throw jokes back and forth until it gets locked or a new OC thread is posted. You had a valid question. I did my best to give you a thoughtful answer before it all devolved into chaos.
  12. The last time I tried to knife someone in lieu of shooting them the melee toggle on my controller got stuck. I'll only use the knife option now if I have at least 80% health. I was using a 3 inch 1911 anyhow and you know those never work.
  13. Yeah, it sounds tragic but I figured there was more to the story then what was included in the article.
  14. I've been living in Clarksville for almost 10 years and have noticed that most of the violent crime is specific to a certain lifestyle and area. That is to say that the victims of these crime are usually engaged in some sort of criminal activity/lifestyle or their attacker was someone they knew (domestics). The random stuff is not common. The recent killing of that Soldier by those punks was the first I've heard in a long time of a random killing. The areas I'd be likely to use my weapon in self defense are places I never go and have no reason to go.
  15. Yeah, I believe that is going over the line from the police side, but I was responding more to the attitude of "this is my right not to show ID" crowd. It's great that we have rights, but that doesn't mean just because we can we always should. If the police are called on me I'm not going to hesitate to show ID. That has nothing to do with whether or not I have the right not to. It has to do with the fact that I want to help and clear up any misunderstanding as soon as possible so we can all move on about our day. I have nothing against the police and, so long as I haven't committed a crime, they have nothing against me. So why not just be polite and cooperative? Just because you don't exercise a right doesn't mean it's not there.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood it had to be the circle slash or the legal language (or close to it). This one would be legal but a sign that simply reads "no guns allowed" would not be.
  17. Folks like me don't like to OC because of the attention that it brings. There are some that aren't bothered by the attention and some that look at it as an opportunity to educate the non-carrying public. There's nothing wrong with that and I don't think that it puts our privilege to carry in jeopardy, with the exception of those that do incredibly stupid or intentionally inflammatory things while OCing, such as strapping an AK pistol to themselves to go shopping or OCing a hand cannon into the local Chuck E Cheese. I've only seen a few people OC around here. Perhaps its because I'm not that observant or perhaps folks don't want the attention, especially in densely populated parts of the state. I hear that you see it more in the smaller communities, and that makes sense to me. I don't think it's something you see in the city a lot.
  18. Yeah, I thought that was old news. It came out shortly after he was released. The talking heads said this might happen; like the day the story broke. Looks like it did.
  19. Nobody is disputing what their rights are. Not cooperating with police is their right, but "exercising" and "standing" up for is different. I have the right to tell a cop I nailed his wife. If I tell him that am I "standing" up for my right to free speech? The police have a job to do. If someone calls a MWG in to 911 the police are coming in large numbers. It's that simple. Why not just be nice about it? Why is that so hard? Nobody is "trampling" anyone's rights by simply asking.
  20. In my experience the Pmags are tougher. I've trashed around a dozen or more aluminum mags over the course of several deployments, as I wore my mags exposed across the front of my kit. Climbing over walls and such managed to dent/crush some of them to the point of being unusable. Also, I took a few epic spills which damaged them. I have a box full of at least 20 jacked up/unusable GI mags that i just use for springs and followers. I was issued Pmags before a particularly busy deployment that involved a lot of building climbing/urban movement. I still have those Pmags and they look like a chew toy for a rabid badger, but they function fine still. Does this matter in the states? No. If its a matter of going to the range and putting a few rounds through your rifle it doesn't matter what kind of mag you got. But if you have them strapped to the front of you getting beat up everyday, I'm gonna go with the Pmag.
  21. I own three 9mm and one .40. Get a 9mm for all the reasons above. Get a .40 later down the road.
  22. Ha, I had a buddy say it once in front of our (OCD) Cpt and was corrected, so from then on I made it a point to mispronounce it in his presence just to f*** with him. Then I found myself saying "Sgt Majors" by accident. Kinda for the same reason I pronounce "jalapeño" as "ja-lap-eno".
  23. Oh come on, do I gotta put a smiley face next to everything for folks to take a joke? Besides, I hardly think that improper pluralization is contemptuous of the entire NCO corps. When I was an NCO I was more concerned with being technically and tactically proficient in respect to things that mattered.
  24. Bah, only officers and folks with the Ft Bliss lobotomy pluralize it that way.
