  1. Based on the article any half-witted defense attorney could raise reasonable doubt with a jury on very little effort. I'm thinking there might be a chance there is more to this case than what the article says, considering the source.
  2. I didn't know a resident alien could not obtain a HCP in TN. Is this the norm in most SE States?
  3. My quick clot is horribly outdated then. I want the new stuff. Last I put it one in a patient it was two years ago and it was the hot stuff we were issued.
  4. Ahhhh!! Derailed from our ongoing derailment! How dare you!
  5. I haven't used Celox, but from what I understand it is supposed to be similar to the dressings made with shellfish called "hemcon" bandages or "shrimp dressings". I haven't used the Celox, but the similar technology of the hemcon worked fine for folks without shellfish allergies. I never saw it in a pour packet form, only dressing form. It works well on stopping bleeds, but you gotta get your fingers in there so that the material bonds with the blood vessel and hold pressure for a good minute, otherwise it will just bond with whatever tissue is around it making it that much harder to get to the bleed. If they have it in a pourable form that is better, but your still gonna have to get it to the bleed if it is deep and there isn't much access to it (ie: bullet hole). Otherwise it will just bond with everything near the surface and do nothing to stop the bleeding. In fact, if it gels enough at the surface you may not see anymore outward evidence of a bleed such as bright red blood. What you will notice is severe swelling from all the blood that is filling up internally. I've heard one account from a medic that saw a patient that was treated in the field by his fellow Marines where they had simply applied the whole dressing to the outer part of wounded leg and didn't get it in there, so the bandage just bonded with some of the exposed flesh near the surface and did nothing for the internal arterial bleed. So you need to know how to properly use your equipment.
  6. Yeah, I wouldn't advise against having it but I would highly discourage using it unless absolutely necessary.
  7. On the battlefield yes. In an environment where you might not see a higher care facility for some time and there is a major bleed I would use it, but unless you're camping or something I don't see it paying off. It does a lot of damage to tissue. Stuffing those hard to reach bleeds with curlex and applying a pressure bandage will work just as well if not better. Quick clot is not the answer most of the time even on the battlefield. It does work though; it comes at a price.
  8. Drives my wife nuts when I pronounce it pee-can. Eh, she's a yankee anyhow.
  9. No, I am not a stereotypical group guy. I am aware of things that were swept under the rug in the line companies and I didn't agree when it happened. I also am aware of the issues that made the blotter and had to be handled by the BN command team. There are three line companies and only one support company, yet an overwhelming number of incidents were coming from Dco. I have plenty of experience on the inner workings of both sides of the house. That isn't meant to insult or anything, but I am speaking from a whole lot of experience on the matter. Secondly, although I disagree with your assessment that Soldiers are a danger to the community, I respect your input regarding what Council members may counter with. I don't see any reason to continue straying from the original purpose of his thread. Let's try to keep it related to that. I realize that I have contributed to getting off topic but lets try to keep t relevant from here on out. If you feel you have a grievance please feel free to PM me.
  10. Caster did not. Yes he made a quote from the Bible, but that in it of itself isn't belittling anyone's beliefs or opinions. He was merely making a point that non-believers could still agree with scripture that applies to the thread at hand. YOU stepped in, highlighted the portion about atheists and suggested they are children and that the scripture applies to them. That is insulting and belittling to those with different beliefs and I don't see why it is necessary. Furthermore, you made these comments and then got your panties in a wad when someone called you out on it, and now in the post above you're all of a sudden claiming victim status for people taking a swipe at your beliefs. Don't start casting stones and then get all pissy when they're cast back at you.
  11. Who began belittling other's beliefs here? You suggested that atheists are children and should get the rod.
  12. That had nothing to do with combat stress. The guy was a dirtbag and a grifter. He was passed through to make numbers and had no business wearing a uniform, let alone a tab. By sheer numbers you are going to see Soldiers do stuff like this since the demographic of men between the ages of 18-30 is over represented in Clarksville, and that demographic happens to represent a group of folks that do dumb stuff regardless of their profession or combat experience. Nearly all these cases of Soldiers doing something crazy or irrational is related to them having an f'd up personal life or a preexisting mental condition that wasn't caught earlier. Combat stress is used as an excuse to elicit an emotional response and remove blame. Many of these folks that do these sorts of things never deployed or didn't serve in a combat role. Having served in a combat arms unit for nearly a decade of war I can tell you it was the support personnel who couldn't keep their sh** together at home were over 90 percent of the issues I saw.
  13. I don't see a commander signing off on a problem Soldier. It just ain't gonna happen. If anything getting the approval from the COC is harder than going the regular route, as this route is more subjective and must pass multiple layers as opposed to a course you're paying for. If a private wants his commander to sign something it's gonna go to his first line leader and then to platoon leadership. Those folks would knock that down off the bat if the Soldier had issues. Then it's going to go up to the command team, and the 1SG definitely knows who his problem Soldiers are. Then you have the Commander who has worked hard to get to where he is and understands that he is responsible for everything the unit does or fails to do. He ain't rubber stamping something if he thinks private snuffy is gonna get into a drunken shoot out over a soccer game. Like I said above, folks that would engage in that sort of impulsive behavior are not going to pay attention to the laws anyway. All the more reason for me to be armed to protect my family. I am one of those folks who got the permit with a memo from the Commander. I took it upon myself to learn the laws. Someone that doesn't do that is responsible for themselves. I am not responsible for them and shouldn't be lumped into that category.
  14. Haha, man-love Thursday! Bad time of week to be the chai boy!
  15. Hell yeah. The problem is at home. Parents look at the school system as a babysitter, and the crackhead parents of these future career criminals could care less about what their kids are doing; but hey, they'd be the first to sue the school if a teacher was to step up and do something about this behavior. Gone are the times where there was such a thing as shame. Remember that little monster child that had to be pepper sprayed by the cop at school? Was the mom mortified that her awful poster child for (very) late term abortion was threatening to stab the teacher? Of course not, she was more concerned with doing the morning show circuit and getting a payday so she could score more meth and become queen of the trailer park! The parents of the kids disgust me more than the kids themselves. They should have to pay damages to this poor old woman and make a public apology.
  16. This is propaganda. Playing the "what if" game doesn't prove squat. That is about as scientific as proving you don't need a seatbelt by driving a test dummy into a fully loaded fuel tanker.... "what's the point of having a seatbelt? You're gonna die anyway." This doesn't account for the deterrent factor. Nor does it take into account that active shooters are generally cowards and will run away from somebody equally armed whether they are shot or not.
  17. I understand what you're saying, but where is the line drawn? I would like to believe that anyone who is irresponsible enough to pull a weapon over a kids' soccer game would also be irresponsible enough to carry in a prohibited location. Keep in mind, Heritage isn't posted other than the Bark Park, and most HCP holders aren't aware that Heritage Park is prohibited. I don't think allowing legal carry there would be putting any children at risk. I know that there are hot headed parents out there, but those stories you see on the news isn't the norm. Just another thing the media has sensationalized with a few outrageous stories.
  18. I'm not a gov expert but I don't think it'll get resolved by bringing up at a meeting out of the blue. Something like this that will draw controversy from the sheep needs to be planned out a little better. If we address it now and find out where everyone stands then we have a better chance of getting this pushed through. I think that if the Council was blindsided at a meeting without all the facts it would not work in our favor.
  19. I would say that is a good idea. It'll be sometime after the New Year. Of course, no carry is allowed at the meetings, ironically.
  20. From my conversation with my Councilman he explained that the Chief supported opting out a few years ago, making carry in all Clarksville parks illegal. I'm not trying to trash him, just passing along what I heard. I don't see why my Councilman would make that up, so I took it as true. I understand that LE will enforce the law, however, if this is accurate than he was supporting the passing of a law that didn't exist that would prevent lawful carry in parks. I interpret that to be unsupportive of HCP privileges and believe that if that is his stance his officers will make an arrest regardless of postings or lack thereof. You're right, the choice is with the Council members which is the point of this thread. My remarks regarding the Chief were to highlight to folks that the status quo will cause HCP holders to unwittingly break the law which will most likely result in their arrest based on what I just mentioned above.
  21. Ha, well I don't have to worry about saving the funds... it'll take forever on the paperwork to have it built so i can hide the money from the wife. Very cool toy though! Crazy that a AR SBR is a lot cheaper, but I guess it ain't as cool.
  22. Alright, y'all got my interest. Where did ya get the parts? What are ya looking at for price, minus the tax stamp? I'm thinking about one in 5.45 as well.
  23. The JDL is the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread. Somehow I doubt they disagree with Joe the Plumber.
  24. Doesn't seem like rocket scientry; folks with the means to resist will normally do so. Jews didn't have those means. Pretty simple equation. Where is the controversy?
  25. Hmmm... I've never owned a Bushmaster but have used a lot of them. Seemed like good AR's; real tight fit. From what I've seen the S&W are priced better, but I guess that's where you go. Did some of those first gen ACRs have issues? I would just figure any new product would have its share of problems. That's why I wait at least half a decade on all new technology.
