  1. Same here. The teaser on Drudge pulled me in. I read what he said and it wasn't specifically referring to business owners not being the owners of their success. He was referring to perhaps life mentors and inspirations that helped them along the way achieve their goals of success. Of course, the subtext of the whole thing was the justification of government intervention.
  2. They look sexy but it sure limits your holster options, especially if you're looking to use it for an EDC.
  3. For an individual who I would consider to be classless, this is a pretty classy thing to do. Especially with a Hollywood elite crowd that only pays lip service to our troops, if that. He says that there is no cap on the donation, just that the minimum is $1,000,000. Good for him. I will honestly feel sorrow for him the next time he plummets into a self-destructive binge. http://news.yahoo.com/actor-charlie-sheen-gives-1m-troops-uso-214339293.html It says that it's part of a campaign to help injured troops, so I'm not sure what that means. It would be nice if it would go to the Wounded Warrior Project. As much as I like what the USO does, I'd be happier with the funds going to support those with a tough road ahead of them due to combat wounds rather than spending it on Gary Sinise's crappy band playing for fobbits.... no offense Gary Sinise, you're a great American.
  4. Such an odd relationship, but true.
  5. 30 minutes from where this is going to be tried Casey Anthony was found not guilty, despite all the media circus surrounding it and the emotional implications that came with the manner of the crime. This was a jury that admittedly wanted to convict her but wouldn't because of the lack of sufficient evidence to reach a guilty verdict beyond a reasonable doubt. What makes you think in this case that each person on a jury (after going through the selection process) would end up suspending morals to convict someone without enough evidence to do so? Sure, it's possible that one or two might, but everyone? I think he's guilty, but if I was sitting on a jury it wouldn't matter what I think, it would only matter what the evidence proved/disproved. I don't even consider myself to be of high moral character compared to most, so I don't think the defense would have to hard of a time selecting jurors that can separate opinion and evidence. He will get a fair trial. If he is found not guilty than it means that he either did nothing criminal or there wasn't enough evidence to convict. If he is found guilty it is because he is criminally liable, not because of media hype. Also, Orlando isn't LA, and Sanford isn't laid out in a manner where any rioting could take hold in an area that would matter. The economical hub of Sanford is away from the ghetto by several miles towards the interstate. Furthermore, Floridians simply wouldn't tolerate such nonsense and there isn't the amount of low-life gangs and criminals to take over the way they did in LA. LA is a third world country in most places. Central Florida in the greater Orlando area is just not that way. Even the crime laden areas off OBT and Pine Hills wouldn't allow rioting and such nonsense to take place. Maybe I just have a little more faith in my fellow Americans than most, or maybe I'm just not secretly hoping for a race war.
  6. I don't care if they're running away or not. If there is still a gun in their hands they are getting rounds in them until they surrender or it is clear that they don't have a weapon. I've seen plenty of surveillance footage of criminals shooting back whilst running away. As far as I'm concerned, they are a threat until they are subdued or have surrendered. Florida isn't the way some of you think in regards to self defense. The Zimmerman case hardly speaks to the whole of the State, and once again, you are assuming that you have the totality of the evidence to know that Zimmerman shouldn't be charged. Floridians shoot bad guys all the time without incident.

I had an Ithaca reissue when I was in the Army. Neat peice of history to hold. How much did that run you, if you don't mind me asking?

Hahaha, sorry. I get a little passionate on the dudes with the BS military exploits. Especially when their stories are directed at civilians that don't know any better because they don't have any context to interpret it as BS.... to me it's taking advantage of folks and cheapens the sacrifices of real Servicemembers that aren't reality show whores.

I'm wondering what year this war story took place. As far as I know there have been no jumps from such a low altitude in training. In fact, even low altitude static line jumps executed in combat were higher than that. Furthermore, doing the math in my head regarding how fast a falling object accelerates (9.8 m/s squared) and the time it takes a chute do deploy after jumping out of a C130 (4 secondsish) he would be a lawn dart before his chute would fully deploy and slow his decent. Last I checked it wasn't easy to get permission to jump below 1,250 ft. Anything below 800 ft is gonna start negating even having a reserve chute, as by the time you realize that your primary has malfunctioned there won't be much time (less than a couple seconds) to activate your reserve and have it deploy. Approval for a low jump altitude would have to get approval higher up than Regiment, and I don't see any GO looking at that risk assessment and saying "yeah, that's good training." Furthermore, no matter how gung-ho some folks want to be, there is an endless supply of smart folks to say "hey, we shouldn't jump at that altitude because the potential training gains are not worth the likely risks. I guess what I'm saying is, the story is beyond complete BS. In fact, this a-hole claiming this should reach into the display, load the largest caliber pistol he has for sale and suck start it. Repeat as necessary.

Wannabees. If they want so bad to be operators or whatever they can take their fat, out of shape a$$es down to a military branch recruiter of their choosing, become men, then go use that tacticool crap for what it's intended. It's one thing to have an admirable collection; it's another to "play" Ranger in the parking lot of your gun store. Geez, I don't know what is worse; the fact they have their own show or the fact that a market for viewers actually exists.
  11. You would find me at a TEA Party rally if the only thing they were pushing was fiscal conservatism. Unfortunately, Lester is right. Leadership at local levels have attached baggage which has national level implications. As much as folks in the TEA Party want to consider themselves very loosely affiliated, that is not the percepetion. I don't think they're whack jobs the way the media protrays them. When the movement first started I was on board all the way. Then I hear a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with the objectives of cutting spending. I won't attach my name to something I don't believe in even if some of their goals suit my wishes. That's how we ended up with the two parties we have.

I'm like Nostra-effing-domus. I didn't watch it, but it sounds as if it exceeded my expectations of silliness. If these clowns actually had to employ their "tactics" on a two way shooting range they would wet themselves and probably never touch a firearm again. Losers.
  13. What would keep me awake is the thought of a fire destroying a 1911 collection worth around 60K. Even if he is insured, some of that stuff is not so easily replaceable.
  14. Haha, no worries, I figured I'd bite and acknowledge it. As much as I love my Kimber, I does still chap me that the finish on the frame chips if I so much as look at it. I have to take my ring off to shoot it as to not mar it up; not something I enjoy on a pistol I dropped some big bank on. I'm guessing 'cause I got one with an aluminum frame. The plastic mainspring housing is also BS, but I got over that when I replaced it with a beveled magwell. Once I get it on the range though, all is forgiven.
  15. New York Post. To be honest, I didn't even click the link. I already know that it says... blah blah.. gun nut.... blah blah ... republicans are the anti-christ.
  16. If anything this is gonna cause problems later on if Zimmerman is convicted in regards to an appeal. Even the prosecutors should be on board with this.

Not even the boobies of the ring girls.
  18. Ah, c'mon... at leat YouTube that one. It was one of the funnier sketches I've seen done. Not better than "Black George Bush", but funny indeed. To quote the representative for black Americans: "Cunduleeezzza Rice? That sounds like a Mexeecan dish."
  19. We Kimber hatin' again?
  20. Tiger Woods is black. He was picked up in the race draft on Chappelle's show years back. Condelezza Rice was picked up by whitey.
  21. My guess is all the reasons I mentioned a few posts up. People buy off on what the slick politicians and media tell them. Special interest groups control the media, which convinces people of problems that don't really exist, and politicians feed on that as platforms to run on. In my opinion, there is no issue more important than the economy right now. None. All the silly little problems that divide us one way or the other will be quite moot when our country collapses. People haven't figured it out yet. Politicians are just hoping the music doesn't stop while they're in office. Our country will continue to divide the vote with immigration policies, abortion, gay marriage, and all the smear tactics regarding personal lives and finances that have nothing to do with the office they're going to be in. As things get worse all the Dems have to do is keep promising that it will get better... hope and change right to hell. The problem is that people can't think for themselves.. at least not logically. It is far easier to have outside influences tell you what your opinions are. We absolutely have the power to turn all this around, but it requires Americans to realize what the problem is and how we got here.
  22. Yeah man, I used a steel wool attachment to take the finish off some pistol mags and shine 'em up, but it was far too abrasive and left some swirl patterns on there. I was looking into polishing up a slide and didn't want to make that mistake on it.
  23. I guess I should start doing this. Whenever I get a return email from one of them it is usually worded "I feel strongly about this issue" or "your insight will help my staff and I consider this issue" but never an answer on "this is where I stand." I guess if I snail mail stuff at least it's enough of an inconvenience to throw it in the 86 file versus just hitting the delete button. I haven't even got anything back from Alexander after sending an email several weeks ago.
  24. I don't have an solutions, but I know that human nature is to take care of immediate needs first. If Joe Baggadoughnuts has to worry about feeding his kids is he going to buy the domestic product that costs 50% more than a foreign product? What good is a clear concious if you can't pay the mortgage? That sounds extreme but there are a lot of folks out there like that, and even more folks that are frugal because they see the way we're headed. The root of the problem is jobs going overseas and the ones that remain are operating at a greater overhead. Jobs aren't going overseas because people have some kind of moral objection to American products, they are going overseas because business and industry has been overregulated. The problem, like most other problems, stems from big government interference. The only way I know how to fix that is to stop putting in career politicians and start putting in folks that actually have our best interests at heart.
  25. What attachment did you use on your dremel to polish it?
