  1. Sensory overload + obstacles (people/seating). Hindsight being what it is, I'm certain that I wouldn't know what I was experiencing for a few good seconds, and by then I'm either a victim or trapped. This was perfectly set up for what he wanted to do. What a selfish coward. There is no punishment that could fit this crime.
  2. I saw a guy on a street corner with a sign that said "The End Is Near". Better clean out all the bank accounts and rack up hookers and blow on the credit cards... because it must be true... some random guy said it.
  3. Ha, that is a good one. I'll have to remember that. I have a hard time believing that my politicians believe in the religion they practice. I'm sure there are some, but I think that's the exception to the rule. The nature of politicians is to sell anything to make themselves more electable, and they know that Americans won't vote for a non-Christian leader. That makes me suspicious of them all. But then again, a person's religion won't make me vote/not vote for them. I've met good and bad religious people just like I've met good and bad athiests. I even met a Buddhist once that was a total a-hole.
  4. Just like the Prohibition didn't stop alcohol consumption. But it made those in the Temperance Movement feel much, much better.
  5. I thought they had a lot of gun ownership there, relative to the rest of Europe.
  6. When I'm being lied to and misled it doesn't really matter what religion they are. Someone who congregates doesn't mean they automatically kneel at the cross, so to speak.
  7. I've activated the decocker on a 92F with a round chambered somewhere in the realm of 10,000 times, maybe more. Add on to that how many folks with the same weapon I've been on the range with doing the same kinda shooting.... I would say I've been around at least a quarter million decockings of Beretta 92's with no failure on the decocker. The only negligent discharge I've ever seen in that experience was someone who failed to decock and attempted to reholster his weapon, hitting the trigger while doing so. I don't suppose you'll find to many people willing to admit having an ND while riding the hammer forward. I'm sure it happens quite a bit though. That's probably why those really smart people came up with the concept of a decocker.
  8. Well, we knew that if Obama gets reelected he'll devise some kinda Brady Bill assault. This event will be the battle cry right here. Probably another bill to restrict those angry looking flash suppressors and prevent all those drive by bayonetings that were going on in the 80s. Wait, wasn't Brady shot with a revolver?
  9. Especially if that model 1911 doesn't have a firing pin safety.
  10. +1 on Southwest. I fly about 8-10 times a year and last year was the first time I went Southwest. The only reason I chose it was for the direct flight that my airline didn't provide. I'm flying them again in a couple months. I like how they do business, and the fact that their flight attendents are a little sassy, but not in a rude way.
  11. My Beretta also doesn't have a safety.
  12. Well, I'm voting for Romney in November. I'm doing it simply to oust Obama, not because I think Romney is fit to be President; he is simply more fit than Obama. Of course, that is like giving me the choice of having sex with either Rosanne Barr or Keith Richards. Clearly there is no good choice there, but if it was a choice I was forced to make I'd have to choose Rosanne Barr. I just take issue with the emotional pleas and accusations at those that have chosen principles over all. I don't think that Paul supporters are "complicit" or want to see the destruction of America any more than you do and I think it's unfair to to accuse them of such. While I'll agree that every vote against Obama counts, I'm stopping short of putting it on their shoulders in regards to blame in splitting the vote. Perhaps the blame should reside with the Republican party for backing such weak candidates and career politicians. If they did that maybe we wouldn't have so many people prepared to defect.
  13. Exactly, me too. I think it's funny to see folks who are always suggesting using the 2A to "take back our government" when there is a much easier, less painful solution. I don't see how it is easier to accept an armed conflict over simply abandoning your party and not reelecting someone..... or, God forbid, having to elect a Democrat to oust a Republican that has gotten too comfy. The same attitude of capitulation to the two parties is what we have to blame for every right we lose or have slowly eroded. I'm committing myself to never reelect anyone until our country is back on track financially, because if we collapse the Constitution, gay marriage, abortion, green energy, 2A won't matter anymore. Romney gets 4 years to undivide our Congress. If he fails then I'll vote Democrat in 2016. We might have to go back in forth for a decade, but if we just didn't reelect anyone we'd see a dramatic change in who rises in the parties.
  14. Oh I know. In a perfect world....
  15. Those ones you had in the military also weren't drop safe, were they? I have seen people do this with 1911s and I don't get it. It is designed to carry with the hammer cocked, safety on. I can't tell you how many times I've had some ignorant bastard come tell me that my hammer needs to be down. If there is a round in the chamber on a 1911 the hammer should never, ever be down. As for the SA/DA, you need a decocker for the opposite reason. The hammer is supposed to be down, but you can't load it without the hammer being locked back. If they didn't have decockers people would be having NDs all over the place. Furthermore, if you have to use it would you really be wanting to ride the hammer forward to make it safe during an engagment?? I know that I wouldn't want to be running around with a pistol in single action mode that I can click over to safe in a high adrenaline situation. That would be asking to shoot yourself. How 'bout just going to the range? I don't know about you, but with my DA/SA pistols I only fire a couple of rounds at a time, scan and bring it back. Every time I bring it back it is safe, as to replicate the condition it comes out of my holster. Folks that go to the range and fire off 15 round strings are killing the training value of those rounds by denying adequate training on that first DA shot, as the first shot is most important, followed by the second and third. I dunno, if you didn't need a decocker then there wouldn't be a reason for every DA/SA semi-auto to have one. There is a reason; a lot of reasons. Comparing it to a revolver or a SA pistol doesn't make sense. You don't have to cock a revolver to load it and you can carry a SA semi-auto on safe with the hammer back.
  16. But to answer your first post a 5.7 would not have stopped him. I don't even know if it would penetrate the "soft armor", but it might. I know that on standard soft armor it will stop most .45 and 9mm, but it would still hurt like hell. It wouldn't have any effect on the ballistic plates. They're a lot different than the strike plates on police vests. I have several friends who have taken 7.62 x 39 rounds in the plates and a couple of them didn't even know they were hit until afterwards due to adrenaline. I'll stand by my earlier statement though. I don't think it matters what you carry, 99.99% of criminals are cowards that will flee at the first sign of death. The attackers that will keep coming are those that have emotion tied to it, like domestic situations or folks that are suicidal. The only video I've seen of criminals standing their ground and taking the fight to the good guys are those Hollywood bank robbers, but they were committed to dying. Look at that vid from the other day with the old guy. Those two punks couldn't move fast enough to get out of the way of that .380. Did they die or get seriously wounded? No, but it stopped the threat. I carry a .45. I do this knowing that if I ever have to use my pistol I could easily get away with using a .22. I just figure that if I'm gonna carry anyway I might as well cover all the bases to include whacked out PCPers. I still have all the confidence in the world that if my pistol ever has to be drawn I'm going to see nothing but a$$holes and elbows before I get a chance to shoot.
  17. If you don't vote for one of the two parties then you hate puppies. Vote Romney.... for the children. When you vote third party, you ride with Hitler. If you vote for what you believe in, you hate America.
  18. Seems like a simple equation for me. Folks who receive government handouts have made it clear that they are willing to give up their rights for certain securities. We should just make it official. Folks who use gov money should be banned from any activities that detract from becoming employed, such as alcohol consumption, purchasing of comfort items like TV's and video games and should be drug tested. They should also be required to provide 40 hours of community service per week, and only be given time off if they are applying or interviewing for a job. If we had measures like that there'd be a lot less people on gov assistance.
  19. We are left with two choices in any election. Just because I vote for one of them doesn't mean I believe he has our best interests at heart, nor should I be compelled to believe that. I'm picking a Douchebag over a Turd Sandwich. There is a great South Park episode that lays all this out very clearly. I don't like my choices, but I go with the lesser of two evils. That doesn't mean that folks who think like me have the attitude like you're suggesting, of "sitting this one out". All elections are like this and anyone we put in the Oval Office is going to erode our rights. It started with the 2nd President and has occurred to varying degrees ever since. Just because I vote for Romney doesn't mean I have to accept that he is some kind of Messiah. He is just another career politician. You want a solution to put the two party corrupted system into check? Stop reelecting people. I hear all this whining about Paulbots and stuff, but as I see it they are people that are just tired of the two choices, and now are being lambasted simply for saying "enough". If I felt that enough of Americans could get together and reject their parties I'd be in the same boat, but alas, I have no faith that my fellow Americans can do that. They are too easily seduced by divisive issues and flock to party lines in order to hang on to what they got. Well folks, it's a compromise. We'll never get America back to the way it was 50 years ago. Accept it. The only way to get politicians back under our thumb is to stop reelecting them. It won't happen though so we all deserve exactly what we get. Varying degrees of government encroachment.
  20. As it should be. As far as the law is concerned he is innocent. Since the burden is on the prosecutiion to provide evidence there should be no worries in regards to Zimmerman being convicted of a crime he didn't commit. If there is no evidence pointing to his guilt, his lawyer could sit quietly through the whole trial, say nothing, and simply point out in his closing arguments that there is not enough proof beyond a reasonable doubt. In fact, there is evidence the defense has that points to Zimmerman being in fear for his life, thus justifying deadly force (physical and witness). So if he is not guilty he should have no problems and the jury should have a quick deliberation, right?
  21. Can't wait until my son is old enough.
  22. You're right. There still remains the possibility the the investigators got it wrong. I would still always lean towards the investigators on any case, since they are the ones collecting evidence and interacting with witnesses and participants. It is up to the DA to bless off one way or the other. However, don't confuse the DA's opinion not to press charges as an endorsement of a "justified" shoot. That isn't what happened at all. I admit that it could be one or the other. But I don't forget that originally the investigators wanted to press charges. It hardly makes this black and white, as you suggested that there was no hint of suspicion from the LE side of the house until the media got involved.... that simply is not true. The picture you're painting is that Zimmerman was cleared of all wrongdoing and it was only because of Jesse and Al that law enforcement went after him. That is just not true. They wanted him charged from the start. Furthermore, I watch the Investigation Discovery channel quite often. I've seen murder cases on there all the time where a DA will not press charges until there is enough evidence. There are folks that walk around for years with the police having suspicion of them the whole time, until there is that one piece of evidence that pushes the DA over the edge to press charges. I've also seen cases where the DA refuses to press charges for one reason or the other, only to be replaced by another DA years later who decides to press charges. It happens all the time without the help of Al and Jesse. Sure, it's political with all the emotion "I am Treyvon" pleas. It has gone beyond the point of silly. But should that make me believe that Zimmerman did nothing wrong anymore than it should make me believe he did do something wrong? I don't thinks so. They aren't going to sway my opinion one way or the other... they are idiots. My opinion is based on just a couple of factors which push my logic in the direction of wrongdoing. If it weren't for that I'd probably not have an opinion at all. I see where you're coming from in regards to the HCP carrier point of view. The fear that you could be the subject of a witch hunt if you were to lawfully defend yourself. I get that. But that doesn't mean that he didn't do anything wrong, and it isn't going to put my in his corner by default. We still don't have all the evidence, and once we do and the trial starts I think we will have a much clearer picture than what we have now. I'm prepared to eat my words if the trial starts and the only evidence they have is that Zimmerman is a white-hispanic and Treyvon is a twelve year old black kid. With a Murder 2 charge I just don't think that's how it's gonna go down. I think they have real evidence that points to his guilt... probably a lot more than what the original investigators had who wanted him charged with manslaughter.
  23. If someone so much as fired a .22 short in his direction he woulda been outa there. Cowards like these are not going to stand and fight. He just wanted an easy way to kill defenseless people.
  24. Who's going to stop them? From what I read in the article it said that police won't get involved because this is a "civil issue". I interpret that to mean that it's still their house, so are the cops going to arrest them for trespassing on their own property? I tell you what, it would get "un-civil" real quick if that was the answer from law enforcement.
