  1. I carry all the time in Indiana. There is a tale of lore there which speaks of people who legally order a beer with their dinner whilst carrying and never get in trouble with the law. I don't recall what their laws are for carrying into a bar or casino though. I've never been in either there while armed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. When you find a decent app be sure to let us know. All the ones I've looked at on the Apple Store have terrible reviews so I haven't bought them. I have a small rechargeable Dr Dre speakers which pair with my iPhone. It is quite loud for its size, and I figure an animal with that kinda hearing would pick it up from way off. 3.   I don't think cursing by itself is narcissistic, but lacking respect for others is.  Those of us from the military culture curse out of habit, and have an ever evolving vocabulary.  That's just how the culture is, and it's what I'm used to.  I don't get offended by someone cursing around me.   However, I can't stand it in public around my wife and kids.  It is disrespectful.  I hate seeing it in public when folks are cursing around old folks and people who obviously are offended by it.  Unfortunately, it is impossible to do anything about it without being involved in an altercation.  The type of person who has been raised to have such a lack of respect for others isn't going to have an epiphany that their behavior is incorrect simply because you're asking nicely to watch their language.  No, they're going to feel challenged by it.  In my opinion, this, once again, boils down to people who had terrible parents who didn't teach them right from wrong.   Even in my own family, there are folks who will curse in front of my kids, and then roll their eyes and give me the sarcastic "okay" when I tell them not to do that in front of my children.  Gets under my skin and has been a source of tension since becoming a parent.
  4.   It's never been cheaper to build your own.  There are tons of deals on barrels, lowers and BCGs right now, which traditionally are the higher cost items on a build.  Start parting one together.  The last few builds I did for people didn't just focus on the sticker price, but also shipping fees.  Take advantage of sites that are offering free shipping deals on certain items, or try to order as many items from the same online retailer as possible in order to keep shipping fees down.  You can make a pretty AR for cheap, and it will shoot as well as you can.
  5. Oh I know. Reduced muzzle climb and recoil make it convenient. Doesn't replace skill though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Meh, I do and I'm able to keep up. All that garbage people throw on their guns just make it more convenient, but it doesn't replace skill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Before Yahoo changed a few years back, I used it as my home page to get a quick glimpse into the news. They changed it to where you couldn't go to that old format where news was organized according to your preferences, so I'm having to sift through all kinds of Kim Kardashian and Miley crap that I don't care about. I gave up and just made Google Search my home page, since that is usually what brings me to the internet in the first place. I then go to Drudge for news, and my local paper/news sites. Chances are, if it is big news it will be on Drudge, and it just links you to various news sources so you get across the board exposure to different outlets with different bias. 8. Still have no idea what you're talking about. You said before that there were no troops in the green zone because Blackwater's "mercenaries" were guarding it. This is not true. If the truth was a steak dinner, what you wrote would be Alpo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It does. Mine shipped a couple days ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. We just got lucky to be first? I've been to all those places and don't remember seeing a lot of west African folks though. Ugandans, Kenyans, Somalis and Ethiopians. Perhaps we just have a bigger west African community in the US, so law of averages maybe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11.   My parents live out in the sticks.  Closest walmart is nearly an hour.  Nearest town is about 20 mins.  They have become big fans of Amazon.  Nonetheless, their house, their rules.
  12.   Personally, I much preferred working a Mal over a Shepherd.  They are such high energy dogs and driven animals that working them is a breeze.  If you get a good one, their behavior is so intuitive that it seems they require little guidance.  There is a drawback though.  When they aren't being worked they develop severe anxiety issues.  Yeah, all dogs do to some extent, but I've never seen anything like this.  Severe anxiety accompanied with high intelligence and energy is a horrible mix.  Throw in two small children and a couple other dogs and you now have your own madhouse.   If I were to have a dog simply for protection and the occasional agility/obedience competition, I'd take a Shepherd all day.  Then again, there is a sense of comfort I get knowing I have a malligator in the house and on the clock.  If someone breaks in, they won't be leaving with all their body parts.
  13.   Um, no.  When you're swimming in ebola patients in third world conditions it is a little different than preventative steps which can be taken in civilized society.  You really can't compare the two.
  14.   I would recommend a shepherd over a Mal any day of the week.  My Mal is like a shepherd with a crack habit.  They're intelligent, agile, and very good at aggression, but they have to be worked into the ground to expend off that energy.  I run mine 5 miles every other day on top of anti-anxiety meds just to be able to get the obsessive behavior under management.
  15. I have a biting ass malinois who is the second line of defense after the alarm system. Trained in a long list of man eating skills and methodical building search. I don't do competitions though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. It's apples and oranges to compare an outbreak such as this in Africa to an outbreak in the states. They're still using sex with virgins as a cure for AIDS. They have no system in place to educate the population on measures to take to prevent spread or an effective way to quarantine people. You can't look at this outbreak 2 dimensionally. The reason it has spread so rapidly is not due to how infectious it is; it's due to how ignorant the population is where the outbreak occurs. Nonetheless, I have babies too, so this stuff scares the crap out of me. I'm already losing sleep over this enterovirus nonsense, and am doing my best to balance my sanity against the gloomy news reports. Undoubtedly, this won't be the last case of Ebola that we see in the US, but a lot of things would need to happen for it to break out like it did in Africa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Then don't shop there. Kinda ridiculous going into a store knowing what their policies are, then bitching about it when you have to adhere to those policies. Seems to me like the solution is simple. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I've been to the green zone nearly every year between 2003 and 2010. What on earth are you talking about? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19.   Uncle Joe had his double barrel.  Nothing to worry about.
  20. I don't see why folks get so upset about the receipt checking thing. It isn't that big of a deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I think the correlation here between Islam and acts of barbarism is being interpreted incorrectly.  For this specific instance, the individual in question was a convert to Islam, but seemed not to know enough to practice it.  Based on the news report on his Facebook page, there was a lot of information on there that was in contrast to fundamental Islam.  He's kinda like a person who would convert to being a rabid vegan, yet continue to eat eggs and fish.    What we have in this case is a man who is a violent psychopath who converted to Islam and embraced ideals he thought were organic to the faith, and coincidentally satisfied his murderous fantasies.  So is Islam to blame, or the psychopath?   Some folks would argue that a faith which promotes such behavior makes an attractive haven to people like this man, and I don't disagree.  I don't agree, however, with the notion that all Muslims are guilty by association.  There are more Muslims picking up arms to fight against fundamentalist than there are Muslims picking up arms to promote it.  Yes, the Quran has some evil stuff in there, but so does the Old Testament.  The difference is there aren't fundamentalist Christians using terrorism to promote their brand of religion.  This, I think, is due to cultural and geopolitical reasons.  Obviously, Christians control Western society, and Western society is pretty stable when contrasted against mid-East civilization as a whole.  The mid-East is unstable due to a list longer than I care to make or read, but the high points would be culture, sectarianism, western political influence (due to oil), an Israeli state, rampant poverty, poor education, and tribalism.  What a breeding ground for an endless supply of angry, fighting aged males looking to blame someone, anyone, for their woes.  Toss in a promise of everlasting paradise with nearly 100 chicks to play with your pecker, and you got yourself a ripe pool of recruits to pull from.  These are the types of screwheads that we have to worry about, and the types of screwheads that are attracted to the idea of having their own extremist state (ISIS) where they can have the perception of control over their destiny.   Now, enter the loonies who weren't born of such a society, yet have obsessive, psychopathic tendencies.  Some of the less intelligent nutbags need an outlet to justify their actions.  The more intelligent, narcissistic ones don't need an outlet.  They know they are crazy and don't require excuses for it.  In the case of this beheader, it's safe to say he wasn't the among the best and brightest.  This man has always been a nut, and only recently found Mohammed.  Perhaps his perception of Islam, or at least the Western perception of Islam, motivated him to follow Momo the kid raper so that he could manifest his anger into something.  I think the choice of Islam itself is inconsequential here.  He could just as easily chose to be in a Satanist cult, vampire cult or the NBPP.  There are plenty of mentally unbalanced folks who join these cults for the sole purpose of legitimizing their crazy fantasies.  I can't place the blame at the foot of every Muslim.  Plenty of them are secular and choose to ignore the murderous parts of the Quran, just like plenty of us ignore the murderous parts of the OT.

  23.   I don't lose sleep on that.  The amount of velocity lost on a pistol round passing through a body is significant.  If a round was to successfully pass through a BG it ain't going far after that.  Not to mention, the likelihood of that scenario is slim.  You're far more likely to miss and hit someone.  Also, I have hollowpoints it mine.  When they expand that is going to create a hell of a lot of drag.  That ain't coming out the other side and traveling with any significant amount of velocity or original trajectory.
  24.   Thanks.  I placed an order a couple days ago.  Might take them a while to fill it; still haven't received a shipping confirmation.

I'm so confused by how the trucking industry works.  Are you saying that this guy can't be prosecuted for dumping 80k in product?
