    6.8 part 2 for R11

Well, at 400m 1 MOA is 4 inches so I'd say that you're doing just fine, especially when you figure that a 1 MOA gun is supposed to be that accurate in a vacuum and doesn't take into account all the environmentals. I can't hit anything past 300m without magnification, bipods and a shooting sock 'cause I'm all shaky and impatient!
  2. I didn't think it appropriate when people did stuff like this regarding Bush (and still do) when he was President. These people should be ashamed of themselves, especially since it is disrespectful to the victims and their families to use their tragedy as a tool. It isn't right when the right does it anymore than when the left does it. The other side of this is that it does nothing to further the cause to get him out of office. In fact, this was probably damaging to the Romney campaign as the media will use this against him. How many "on the fencers" you think are gonna look at that and be like "hey, ya know what, that is what is going to make me vote against Obama."
  3. No matter how much I want Obama out of office, stuff like this is beyond wrong and inappropriate. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-aurora-billboard-everyones-talking-203448772.html
  4. LBL gave me a hard time when the Opossum Sheriff stopped in to check our backwoods permits. I had purchased one but he said that we needed one for each of us.
  5. Well, as you'll learn HCPers are a small sampling of the population here. An even smaller sample go so far to complain about it on the internet. A seemingly non-existent minority from that number will actually work to have things change, but will not succeed due to lack of motivation to follow through with the simplest of tasks involving an email to their elected representative. HCP holders deserve the stupid rules they have.
  6. Huh, isn't there some sort of federal crime against illegally entering a nuclear facility? Slapping them on the wrists just makes the whack jobs bolder and encourages an escalation of this kinda crap.

    6.8 part 2 for R11

Are each of those boxes 1 inch squares? If so I would say that at 400m that is pretty good. Was that from a rest, bipod or prone unsupported? Optics or irons?
  8. Well, like I said, I don't think it's considered an "issue" because most units simply don't shoot that much over the life of the weapon or in one sitting. Especially now that there are weapons refits annually so many of those parts may be replaced before it becomes an issue. They break in those M9s that are seeing regular 500-1000 round days and 15,000+ rounds a year. Then again, I recall many refurbished Ithaca and Remington Rand 1911s having similar round counts put through them with similar results of parts wearing out or breaking. My favorite being the front sight flying off. I think most modern pistols (to include most 1911s) can withstand such tortures just fine. I think Beretta locking block design puts a lot of stress on those lugs which is what creates that problem, as it is those lugs that snap off of the block. I don't know if it is substandard material they make the locking blocks out of for Military contracted parts. I can recognize that the markings on my personal 92 block is different from the Army's, but beyond that it would take an educated metallurgist to explain if there is a significant difference in the quality.
  9. The locking blocks still break all the time. The reason it isnt a big deal is because most units will never shoot them enough to cause them to break regularly. I have replaced dozens of them. It can be a real pain since it often seizes the gun up and requires some finesse to get it apart.
  10. Right, the meter man should have left at the request of the homeowner, reported it to higher and turned off their electricity. They can enjoy all the freedom they want in a dark, unairconditioned home.
  11. Yes but "failure drills" are so far less Hollywood to describe in training.
  12. I'm sure there a rules to leaving them unsupervised though, which clearly is what happened when the boy was choking out that baby in the bouncer. That place should be shut down or at least have the entire staff fired. I still am not certain what I'd do if that was my baby, but I can't watch that video without my blood boiling.
  13. Pistols are not a primary weapon. Pistols are only carried by the door kicking variety for the purpose of having a secondary in the event their primary malfunctions or runs dry during CQB. These pistols were purchased for the door kicking variety, not for fat REMFs to carry around in lieu of their rifle.
  14. It surely wasn't local considering using the same brand for years and years and having the requirement to expend it each fiscal year. Of course, my knowledge of ammo resupply begins and ends at picking it up from a bunker full of all our stuff. I've seen big Army with cans of American Eagle all the time downrange as well, but I've never seen it at the bunker.
  15. The stuff we always had was Winchester brand boxes; the same kind I buy at wally world. Comes in the same 1,000 rd cardboard box and everything.
  16. They think their iPhones run off of peace and fairy dust. I believe that people are entitled to their opinions and all, but hippies just aren't people.
  17. All the 9mm I came by in the Army supply system was either American Eagle or Winchester... the same kind they sell in the 100 rd boxes at Walmart.
  18. Second the suggestion on LBL. Shoreline on both sides with rolling terrain and streams in between. I have a list of campsites that are great for "backwoods" camping. I've always wanted to do a weekend trip and hike from one to the other, but I always take the family camping when I go up there. Backwoods permits were $5.00 for the weekend and $15.00 for the year last time I was up there. You could walk through there for days and never run into anyone so long as you avoid certain areas. I have lat/long coordinates to a bunch of nice out-of-the way campsites that are usually free from people and have great views of the water. It's about a 2 hour trip from Springfield give or take.
  19. I would agree. I would treat my strippers with more respect and dignity than some uppity feminazi with an axe to grind 'cause she has penis envy.
  20. A general rule I live by is to treat every woman like a lady until she shows that she ain't one.
  21. I'm sure I don't see every posting. I know of two that I've missed. I carry everywhere I go. Why would I stop carrying when I go to the movies? If anything, the recent situation illustrates that the movie theater is a prime target for mass shooters. I don't understand all the hate on these guys. Sounds to me like they were doing the same thing most of us normally do. They didn't see the sign? So what?
  22. It used to bother my wife when she first moved here when a waitress would call me "hon" or "honey"... it took a while to convince her that it was not "inappropriate" amongst many people raised in the south. After a year or two she started seeing it that way since it happened so often.
  23. Not at all. It is your choice to enter an establishment that posts. If you are that concerned about your safety then you wouldn't go in there in the first place. If you decide that patronizing the business is more important than your personal safety then the onus is on you in regard to disarming.... no one is forcing you to go in there.
  24. After spending time in NYC, Chicago, Seattle and Portland I can say that returning to Tennessee was like walking into a Rockwell painting. Walmart is certainly not a place where I expect to see best manners on display, but for the most part I encounter respectful people in my day to day. I still hold doors for ladies and old folks. I may not always be acknowledged but that's not why I do it.
  25. That doesn't fit into the equation in regard to military procurement of new weapons systems. Even if .40 was determined to be the best pistol caliber ever, ever, it wouldn't matter. The standard calibers are 9mm and .45 ACP for the military, just like 5.56, 7.62x51 and .50 BMG is for rifles and machine guns. The cost of purchasing new weapons is small compared to the amount they would have to spend on ammo, and even smaller, specialized units with separate funds for ammo still latch on to the conventional ammo tit in order to keep the ammo supply rolling in. I remember having a .300 winmag for a bolt gun downrange and cringing at every round I had to use to zero it since I only had so much and didn't know when I would get more, whereas my Rem 700 in 7.62 could eat rounds all day with no worries about replenishing. Even .45 ain't to easy to come by in today's military, but it's still in the system whereas .40 is not.
