I don't think so. It is not as if a program like that is unprecedented. Stuff like this goes on all the time, but there is better planning put into it. They just did a very poor job of implementing it. There were way better ways to go about doing it. I just think they didn't really think it through to consider the negative backlash it would have. Not that I don't believe that Obama and his ilk intend to push restrictive gun laws on us, I just don't think that every time Obama takes a dump it is because he is out to get us.

I used to have a Chinese roommate (a real one from China) and she had very strong opinions about stupid round eyes getting Chinese tattoos. She said she's seen the dumbest stuff people get put on their body because they think it means one thing when it means something completely different or just doesn't make sense. I guess it makes folks feel as if they're cultured or something, however, the culture you're trying to show off makes fun of you for having that tat. Trust me. And no, there is no love for zodiac signs in Islam. That is infidel territory and borders on committing the worst sin in all of Islam. Ironic considering the pre-Islamic history of the Ka'aba.

I'd get an alarm system. It's worth the money. I have a wife and two little ones that I can't protect when I leave from time to time. Although we have friends and neighbors that keep an eye on each other, it doesn't compare to having an alarm go off to scare away criminals if they try to enter and know that police are on their way shortly. My wife isn't into guns either, so I get her to shoot when I can. I just changed out her home defense gun from a Sig to a Glock because the concept of a decocker was something too complicated for her, and something I know she isn't going to think about if she has to use it. Her training is limited to understanding the function of it and proper safe handling. Beyond that, I know that if she has to pull that trigger whomever is on the receiving end is not going to want to play anymore, whether they get hit or not. Criminals aren't willing to get shot over something they can get somewhere else. If they still want to try, at least she has 16 chances to hit them. Since I can't convince her to carry she has one of those Kimber Pepperblasters. They shoot out hard enough that you don't have to be that close to hit them and even if you miss their face and hit the body the fumes will have good effect on target.

That is a very subjective law and I don't agree with it. I carry a 1911 and on windy days which the wind blows on my right side it is very obvious that I'm carrying due to the printing from my shirt. That doesn't make me irresponsible or an attention-getter. The articles I read said it was carried in a holster in the small of his back. For all we know the shirt might have got stuck in between the butt and his body and he didn't notice. That can happen, doesn't make him an idiot or a nutjob.

I Googled it. Read 5 different articles that said pretty much the same thing. The only article I saw that suggested he was openly carrying was on the TTAG website, but that is, once again, speculation and opinion the same as here. There was nothing from witnesses stating that he was openly carrying. I can't disprove a negative so perhaps you can provide a link to the article that has a witness statement that says he was OCing. I think this was an overreaction once again. I think this is the general attitude of those that live up in New England, "why do people need guns?" Here is an excerpt from another article: If a nutjob going into a theater and shooting 70 people isn't enough to justify citizens being armed in said theater I don't know what is. The world, once again, has lost its mind.

Your house ain't on the market, is it? Neighborhood or in the country? I had an alarm system put in before leaving on the first rotation after buying my house. I can't describe to you the peace of mind that gives me when I'm away. We have an additional panel in the bedroom so she has a panic button that can be pressed in addition to having a cell to call 911. I even sleep a little more sound at night when I'm home because I'm not getting out of bed to investigate every creak or sound I hear. The alarm is the first line of defense against intruders and serves as an early warning system for me to get ready to rock. If they ain't gone by the time I find them they are toast. I figure if they keep coming with a 130db+ alarm going off, they are there to hurt me.

I didn't see anything in the article about him openly carrying. Perhaps there is another article that I don't know about. The fact that patrons noticed he was carrying doesn't mean he was openly carrying. I've noticed people CCing when they get out of their cars in the parking lot. I saw one a few months ago as a dad was picking up his kid to put him in the shopping cart. Doesn't mean they were doing something wrong. I'm sure my shirt tail comes up every so often. It doesn't warrant getting 20 police officers drawing down on me and getting condemnation from the handgun carry community. Or maybe it does, I dunno.

Activists Infiltrate Oak Ridge's Y-12 High Security Area

Update: http://www.wkrn.com/story/19254456/contractor-makes-changes-at-weapons-plant Looks like heads rolled. I guess the fact that one of the culprits was 82 years old was probably the straw there. Can you imagine how that conversation went? -
I have gotten the same way. I could take a punch from a guy and sit and have a beer with him minutes after things have gone down. I could easily forgive and let go of anything done against me by another person. I've had one incident where a man threatened my wife, and did him a favor by calling the police. I still don't think he understands the favor that I did him. There is no forgiveness there and just thinking about it makes me blind with rage. There is never an excuse for a man to threaten a woman unless she is posing some kind of threat, and even then, she better have some kind of a weapon to justify it.

This was a case of good initiative, bad judgement. It has now turned into something that it was never intended to be, and folks are looking to bend laws and such to keep this from being addressed. I'm not excusing the poor judgement exercised here at the outset of the program, I just don't think it came with sinister intentions. The sinister intentions came about when folks responsible realized that their butts were in a sling.

Had a similar situation a few years ago when my small (15 lb) dog had cornered a opossum at the wooden fence. This dog has no survival skills so he wasn't taking the cues from the hissing and baring of teeth that the seemingly larger opossum was giving him. It just so happened that I was watching from the back door to make sure he went potty when I noticed he was slowly moving in on something that I couldn't quite see. I went out there and heard the thing hissing and pulled out my 1911 to put him down. I guess I was just worried that it was about to attack the dog since there was only about 6 feet between them. I moved closer and scooped the dog up, put him inside and went and got a shovel. Much to the protest of the animal, I was able to get him on the shovel and huck him over the fence. I don't like having to kill the wildlife if I don't have to.

But for some reason us good parents are to feel responsible for the woes of the teachers. Not that I don't respect their profession and don't believe they should have to buy their own supplies, but that isn't my fault and I won't be made to feel as if that is my fault. If they don't like it: 1) Change it. 2) Get a new profession. It isn't as if it is some great secret the BS that teachers have to put up with. Anyone that becomes a teacher knows what they're getting when they're going in. If they don't, well then they probably shouldn't be a teacher because they're obviously lacking in intelligence.

Harder than woodpecker lips. (that is not a sexual reference, by the way)

Not really the point. There shouldn't be an excuse for it either way. The beginning of a customer-business relationship shouldn't be one of suspicion towards the patron. If I were managing the place I'd be worrying more about losing money on customers not returning than busting folks for unauthorized snacks that they otherwise wouldn't have purchased at the concessions. This equation stands to only lose money, not gain any. But then again, I get the impression that movie theaters aren't looking to attract customers like me and that's okay. My feelings aren't hurt. I'll continue to use Netflix while the movie theater industry continues to lose money.

Bounty hunter shot in Bristol, he was a felon

What if they're dressed like Jengo Fett? Does that count as a uniform? -
Sorry, I already pay. I'm not sending the kids to school with a wad of cash to meet some demands from a teacher. Especially since, like I said, I know damn well I would be one of the few sending my kids in with money. The majority of kids in school nowadays expect the state to pay for their lunch. How effing absurd is that? Am I to believe that these parents that can't afford to make a PB&J are going to send their kids in to school with a wad of cash to pay a teacher? I don't believe it. Like I said, if schools need more money for operating expenses they need to raise property taxes or manage their money better. I won't be guilted into giving a teacher my money because it isn't fair that teachers have to buy their own supplies. I'd gladly pay an extra couple hundred bucks a year in property taxes if that translated to a better education and higher pay for teachers rather than send a single dime of an extortionist guilt fee. If it is that bad then teachers need to either raise hell about it or find another profession. Nobody chose my path for me and I didn't choose it for the teachers.

Breaking: Paul Ryan chosen as Romney VP

Lock Box. Fuzzy math. Lookin' forward to the next few months. -
I've seen bolts break before but never seen a bolt carrier break or malfunction due to the carrier. I have seen a lot of pricey carriers though... not sure what they do except look cool and give the owner the ability to brag he paid twice as much for a carrier that functions just as good as mine.

The Sheriff's Department took my uncle's Taurus away when he shot the dude. They gave it back a short time later when the DA said he wasn't going to charge him for shooting the guy.

Kinda like beating your wife for taping over the ball game, then getting mad that she wants to leave you. I'm suffering from battered voter's syndrome as well. I don't like the way the Republicans squeeze out folks that think like me, but I keep coming back because I'm scared of a life run by Democrats. But this election is the last time I come crawling back to the Republican single-wide trailer... I mean it this time.

Fortunately the TSA hasn't taken over theater security operations... yet. For now, I think I'll Netflix. I'm not going to give someone money so I can be treated like a suspect.
