  1. No, the fact they are loony makes it right. I just think the only reason people are up in arms is because this loon happen to be anti-government. What if he was the run of the mill loon that was posting about severing heads and was on his way to his ex-wife's house to "get this started"? Would we be having the same conversation? Like I said, I've put at least one person in the loony bin before. I probably saved his life if not the lives of others. His rights weren't violated. What he said had nothing to do with the 1st Amendment. This is the world we live in. There is a reason for it. If a time comes that folks are being arrested because they were "offensive" or simply speaking out against the gov, I will be the first to be outraged. This isn't it.
  2. People get thrown in padded rooms everyday. People are just up in arms about this one because he was saying stuff about the government.
  3. I have zero doubt they've been watching him for a while. It is, in fact, what we pay law enforcement to do. An example would be the guy who just went nuts and shot up all those Sikhs. Was the government over stepping their bounds by watching him? Obviously they were on to something considering he murdered several people in an unprovoked attack. Unstable people like this are watched for good damn reason. I would bet my paycheck that they have been monitoring him for a long time. His being institutionalized is related to the fact he made clear that he was about to do something violent. Some of you act like these LEOs are boogeymen out to stomp rights. There is the Bill of Rights, but there are also countless laws that allow for batsh** crazy people to be thrown in an institution if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. I'm familiar enough with some of those laws as my own sister had to be thrown in one for a week a long time ago. I've even had one of my Soldiers put in a padded room for over a week... all he did was say a few things as well. Did we violate his rights? Hell no. He was about to kill himself or someone else. Get over it. As long as you're not acting like a loon the Men in Black aren't coming for you. This isn't about the 1st Amendment, this is about a lunatic.
  4. And there went some more of my cash out into the economy. Thanks for the link.
  5. You can also make a nice blasting ca--.... oh, nevermind.
  6. Probably not. The fact that she was shot in the torso makes clear that he was pointing the weapon at her when the trigger was squeezed. I'm going to make a few assumptions in a vacuum and guess that the shooter was either relatively new to the job, has some kind of negligent history or is not very bright.
  7. Back in the day when we'd zero our sniper weapons systems we would just use a 1 inch cleaning patch stapled to the target. It is a perfect 1 inch square which is great for several purposes in regards to zeroing. For pistol marksmanship fundamentals it was just a can of spray paint and a bunch of 3 inch holes cut into MRE boxes. Simple is better.
  8. The Department shouldn't try to downplay it like that. They need to just own up and accept this major screw up. I can understand mistakes to a certain extent, and would even understand if I was the one shot, but if they tried to downplay the extent of my wounds for the purpose of damage control, I'm gettin' a lawyer and bankrupting that department.
  9. Yeah, I live in Clarksville though, and every 19 year old that weighs 130 lbs is walking around with an Tapout shirt, sideways hat, gold chain and a chip on his shoulder. There are actually a lot of fighters here in Clarksville though, and they don't tend to fit that stereotype. Ironic.
  10. I do enjoy watching MMA. I think it is a great sport which typically involves folks with good sportsmanship. If I could change one thing about it, that would be Tapout shirts and Affliction gear. I swear, I have an urge to punk out folks that wear that crap when I see it. Doesn't matter if they're a skinny 18 year old or a stacked brawler lookin' dude. It just looks like BS tough guy stuff and is like nails on a chalkboard. If a dude is a good fighter, well then good for him. I just get annoyed at all the posers walking around looking tough and acting tough. Kinda glad I don't go to bars anymore for this reason.
  11. How do you know there isn't more?

Best Chimichanga Recipe.... been using this one since I was a kid. Hands down the best chimi I've had anywhere. Ingredients: Ground Beef (1lb-ish. Don't use ground turkey on this... tis blasphemous and makes the house stink.) 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 vidalia onion (chop it up in quater to half dollar size pieces) 1 packet Taco Seasoning (or TexMex seasoning of your own design, but don't make it too spicy or it will detract from the flavor) 1 tbsp crushed cilantro, or about half a fist of fresh cut cilantro 1/2-3/4 can of refried beans Flour tortillas (full size; Mission Tortillas work best) Directions: Heat skillet to high and throw a little butter in it. Toss in a chopped up vidalia onion and your minced garlic and brown it; should take about a minute or two. Be sure to stir and toss it around so it doesn't burn and cooks evenly. Once you're happy with the doneness of the onion and garlic, reduce the heat to medium and go ahead and add the ground beef. Don't remove the onions or garlic. They trade their flavor with the meat while it cooks and will soften the onion and add more sweetness to it. Use your spatula to cut the meat up in the skillet so the ground beef is not chunked up at all. Once you've chopped up the meat a bit, add your cilantro and taco seasoning. You may want to add some pepper and even a little chili powder to give it some kick, but not too much. Keep cooking until all the pinkness is gone. Don't overcook the meat or else it'll get all rubbery. At this point, if you didn't use lean ground beef there will be a great deal of fatty grease in the pan. Use a colander to strain out all that stuff. It's bad for you and will mess up the consistency of your product when you add the beans. A little grease is okay though, just not the cup or two that usually gets strained out. Take about 30 seconds to strain out that grease, then return the contents to your skillet. Reduce your heat to low and add 1/2 to 3/4 can of refried beans. Start with the 1/2 can and use your spatula to work it into the mix. A little grease and the heat from the pan should help out with this. If once you mix in the 1/2 can of refried beans it looks as if you need more, go ahead and add another 1/4 can. I'm leery of adding too much refried beans because it makes the mix overpowered with a refried bean flavor. What you want is a good mix of both. If you've cooked over 1 1/2 lb of meat than you could add a little more. I've only used a full can of refried beans when cooking 2 lbs or more. Okay, so now you should have your mix GTG. Put it in a large mixing bowl or something that is large enough to accomodate the contents. Get a big spoon and your tortillas. Scoop the mix into your tortillas and roll them. This is the tricky part for some because not everyone has this skill. What you want here is NO SPILLAGE. You want to roll these so the entire contents of the tortilla are self-contained. This means NO OPEN ENDS! Can't stress that part enough. If you don't get this part right then the recipe is ruined and I don't take credit for the outcome. My technique is to add the mix onto my tortilla in a straight line about 2 inches wide and an inch high just right of the center of the tortilla, and extend the length of the mix about 1 1/2 inch shy on the top and bottom. I then fold the top and bottom first back onto the mix; the crease of the fold will be where the mix ends. Then, while holding the top/bottom fold in place, I wrap the tortilla giving you what looks like a long burrito with both ends encapsulated. This will keep the cooking oil out and will keep the mix from getting in the cooking oil. Both are catastrophic events. It will ruin the mix and will likely cause the oil to "pop" and will burn like hell. This should yield you about 5 good sized chimichangas. While you're wrapping them you can go ahead and heat a few cups of vegetable oil in a saucepan and heat on medium. Use the biggest one you have so you can cook more than one chimi at a time. Make sure that the oil is well heated before you add your chimi. The oil should appear to boil on contact with the chimichanga when you put it in the pan. Once you feel it's hot enough (after about 5-10 minutes of being heated) put your chimichanga in the pan. The oil should be about 1 inch deep so that the chimi is half in the oil and half out. Use some tongs to rotate it from side to side. If your heat is too high then it will burn quick. A good way to check this is to rotate your chimi after it's been on there for 30 seconds. If it ain't medium brown yet you're good. You're going for a golden brown on both sides. Keep checking your chimi and rotate as necessary. Once both sides are golden brown, remove from the pan and put on layered papertowels. This will help to soak up the excess oil. Once all are cooked you are ready to serve. These will taste good with or without sour cream and salsa. These also make a great on-the-go breakfast if you have leftovers. I've been known to throw one down on the way to work. A dark Mexican beer, such as Negra Modelo, is a good pair with this. Wouldn't suggest Corona, but then again, I would never suggest Corona for anything. The wife likes me to add cheese in hers, so it is totally acceptable to do so. I don't put it in mine because change scares me. This is really easy to make, especially after the first time you do it. I hope some of you try it. You won't be sorry.
  13. Oh, haha. I had just woke up so I was still in zombie mode. Could barely make out the letters on my iPhone.
  14. Well, the point I was making is that every election for local/state/federal office is an opportunity for revolution. If the voters don't take that opportunity to remove their leaders then they deserve what they get and now have to wait a few years for the next opportunity. The people speak for who leads us. An armed movement to upset that would be more un-American than the deeds such a leader would be accused of. Certainly I would feel a moral obligation to undermine such a movement because it violates the Constitution and goes against the people's legitimate vote. So, the point is, if folks want a revolution you get to legally have one every time you vote. If you're worried about who people are going to elect then do your part to educate others on the facts. If your candidate loses, tough titties. That's the way it has to be.
  15. Interesting. Ya learn something new every day.
  16. I'm all about vigilance. I think it's great that folks call out are government when they step over the line. That's one way of keeping them in check. The other is voting them the hell out. The revolutionary talk that has been ramping up over the past year as we close in on the election is just silly though. So long as we have an equal voice in our ability to cast a vote, the American people have the power. The problem is the average American is a mouth-breathing half wit. Revolution is to educate the half wits of our nation to a level that they understand what our priorities should be and get off the couch long enough to cast a vote in the proper direction. Maybe that is asking too much, but the other option is simply not an option... not as long as the people are still in control.
  17. I always thought the fluoride thing was a joke referencing Dr. Strangelove... do people really take it seriously?
  18. I get to be involved in revolution every time I vote. If I have to get shot at I would prefer it to be on a different continent; not in close proximity to where my family sleeps.
  19. Good for you for taking responsibility for your family's safety. I never carried much until I got married, and once my first kid came along I always carry. The thought of not being able to protect them is a scary one. After all, it is our job to keep them safe.
  20. My wife and I did this at the laser tag place in Pigeon Forge a long time ago. It was a blast. I was made to feel bad for racking up the most kills on the 12 year olds having a birthday party at the time. Honestly though, I didn't feel bad... those kids got owned.
  21. He wasn't taken into custody because of his anti-gov comments or because he believes that there will be some kind of revolution, it is because he made clear that he was about do to something. I'm betting they were watching him for a good long time. He made several references in the past to wishing someone would "pick him up" so he could start an armed rebellion against the government. His last post before he was arrested claimed that someone was finally on their way to get it started. Sounds like a doomsday post to me. Not too different than other folks that have gone off the deep end and started shooting people.... do I need to give you a list? With that, we don't know what else was going on. Was there someone close to him that called the authorities and said that he was going to do something crazy? Did he have the means to do it? Means, motive and opportunity in addition to claims of getting ready to take action should certainly raise the eyebrows of folks who get paid by the taxpayer to provide some degree of security. This isn't about the 1st Amendment at all. If all speech was free I could yell "fire" in a crowded theater, make comments about planning to kill the President or brag about having automatic weapons/cocaine/hookers/meth/dead bodies in my house without any fear of law enforcement doing something about it. That isn't the world I live in. It isn't the world you live in either.
  22. So if someone says they intend to do something violent to you or your family you would expect law enforcement to wait until that act is done? I think they have plenty here to indicate that he was going to do something violent. This is just a snippet of what he posted and doesn't include postings over the history of the account. You also assume that there was nothing else to indicate that he was planning to do something.
  23. Concern is one thing, disregard for the facts is another. This is normal, albeit concerning, and we should respond with similar posturing so we don't appear weak. But I hardly believe it is an unprecedented event that signifies anything is out of whack.
  24. Yup. Been out for a while.
  25. Funny, I remember when people were bitching about how there were so many signs about Jared Laughner and Holmes before they went on a shooting rampage. There is plenty here to indicate that perhaps he was an unstable person intending on doing something violent. Perhaps there is more stuff we don't know about in conjunction to his posts. Either way, this isn't a case of Big Brother looking to squash free speech. I think there were folks that were genuinely concerned he was going to do something crazy. Plus, he was a Ron Paul supporter.
