  1. I'm telling' ya it's for the MILES. It would make sense that the Army would require that shelf be the same thickness as an A2 barrel rather than purchasing a $2 shim adapter to accommodate it.
  2. Yep, that's why I won't go back to one of our local stores anymore; high prices and bad attitude = you don't want my money.
  3. Ha, well I only go into Guns and Leather or Tennessee Gun Country anymore and those guys are usually occupied with customers anyway. I've bought stuff from both with nothing more than normal "hey how's it going" conversation. Every time I go into Tenn Gun Country though they always try to give me a discount by going down the list "are you Military, LE, EMT or FD?" I keep answering "no" to each question until they're finished and give me a puzzled look and say something along the lines of "oh, you just look like you'd be." I've only had the annoying gun shop clerk at one place in Clarksville and I won't be going back there, ever.
  4. Haha, for MILES gear, of course!
  5. I don't think I've ever had a conversation in a gun store unless it was me asking if they had something in stock or if they could order it.
  6. Probably. I started seeing them last year. They're the ones with the pistol grips on them. Do they require the cutout?
  7. Have you seen those fancy new HK grenade launchers that Joe is sporting? I wonder if those require the notch cut in the barrel too. Any grunts on the board know the answer?
  8. Is the "Rent is Too Damn High" party not running a candidate this year?
  9. I just made the assumption that he already has a G19 since it wasn't on the list of options. Everyone should have one.
  10. I check Armslist every so often just to have a laugh. Occasionally there are reasonable prices on there, but I love the CAI AKs "tricked out" being sold for a grand, or a cheapo AR being "let go" at 1600. I don't understand the marking up of gun sales. It doesn't seem to pass the common sense test for me... if I pay 600 for a gun, then use it for a few years should I expect to get 600 for it? I have no heartburn letting it go for half of what I paid considering I've gotten at least 300 worth of enjoyment out of "renting" it. I dunno, just an observation. If it ain't selling, there is probably a reason for it and it ain't because everyone but you undervalues your firearm.
  11. Then I'd get the G17 over the 92F. Going between DA/SA rapidly messes up my trigger squeeze. My Beretta doesn't get much range time because of this and remains a safe queen. My Glock though... that gets used a lot and I really enjoy shooting it. Consistent trigger squeeze translates to speed and accuracy, for me anyway.
  12. They do this in my town at events too. Doesn't bother me not carrying. I'm usually having beers anyway, but if I wasn't there are still dozens of cops there. It's one of the few times I have an expectation that LEOs offer protection and deterrence.
  13. For fun, I'm going with the R1.
  14. For an EDC or just 'cause? Since I wouldn't use any of those as an EDC I'd go with the R1, because I'm a 1911 groupie.
  15. So did Hitler. Ugh... sorry, couldn't resist.
  16. Wow, that's a strong opinion. Did he not sign an autograph or something after you asked him?
  17. Didn't they test him repeatedly over the years? I think it's just a bunch of sour grapes from sissy Europeans.
  18. I don't have a dog in this fight, but in my opinion, his "admitting" to wrongdoing was not an acceptance of actions. He still was making excuses and attempting to downplay the severity of threating an innocent dude. If he was really apologetic it would look like this: "I f**ked up, recognize my mistakes and will seek to do better in the future." He is not sorry for what he did deep down, he is just sorry he got caught. Apologizing or accepting responsibility should not include a "but". It should just be unconditional. His was not. I do not feel bad for him.
  19. I'm sure his answer to that would be along the lines of: "Guns?? The two guns I used to care of that mofo!"
  20. As far as I know it isn't illegal to carry around a pitchfork, but it is out of the ordinary. I don't think it would be crazy for a LEO to stop a person walking down the street with a pitchfork and say, "hey, whatcha doin'?" Same goes for carrying a pistol that doesn't appear to be an ordinary EDC pistol. Carrying an MP5 clone or a Draco attracts attention because it is abnormal which begs the question "what is this guy up to?" I'm not a cop, but if I saw someone walking around with it I would have my hackles up because I wouldn't be able to think of a reasonable explanation for it. Same as a dude walking down the street with a pitchfork.
  21. If you're considered an adult by the courts at 18, then you're an adult at 18. Adult means what it says. It means you can make adult choices that have adult consequences. That simple. If an 18 year old is not an adult at 18 then the courts need to start considering them minors. If I'm to be considered old enough to be accountable for my actions, then who is the government to say that I'm not old enough to handle alcohol? If the government can draft me for service then I better damn well have a say in who gets elected. If I'm paying taxes I should be able to vote (there's that whole taxation w/o representation thing). I'm not saying that an 18 year old is mature as a 21 year old, but a 21 year old isn't as mature (in most cases) as a 30 year old and so on. The law is silly. Let them drink. It is still illegal to drink and drive, be drunk in public or do any of the other silly things that younger people are more susceptible to.
  22. When they went to that system I would fill out my leave address as The Cat West. For those not familiar, that is the dirty strip club near the base.
  23. Broke his nose, jaw and some ribs. Of course, it is reported that LL Cool J told the intruder shortly before attacking him: "MOMMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT!!!" Sorry, couldn't resist. http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ll-cool-j-leaves-intruder-broken-bones-011809493.html
  24. My favorite safety brief I've ever heard before a 4 day: "If you're going to jump out of a plane, make sure you got a parachute. Wrap it before you tap it. If you drive drunk, make sure to drive fast to minimize exposure. If you drink and boat, make sure it's on a cruise ship. If you beat your wife, be sure to remind her that you do it because you love her that way she doesn't call the cops. If you get arrested you will doing combatives with me on Tuesday morning. But seriously, don't do anything that your rank can't handle. I can promise you, if you do something dumb this weekend, the CoC will burn you to the ground. Have fun."
