  1. Making generalized threats in the manner he did is why he was committed and not charged. If you say, "I'm gonna head down to the mall and shoot a bunch of folks", you won't be charged with assault, but you will probably be taken into custody and evaluated. That isn't about free speech, that is about being a clear and present danger to others. I get that it could be subjective, but I'm not going to sweat it until folks other than raving lunatics start getting rolled up. For now, it appears to be limited to those who are nuts.
  2. Okay, so if someone says they are going to kill you then the police should wait until the person does it before intervening? He wasn't arrested, by the way. He was committed for being a loon.
  3. We really going to bring my comments from another thread in here? Is that really necessary or appropriate? Here I thought I was having a grown up conversation.
  4. He was talking about cutting off heads and starting an armed revolution. At what point do we expect law enforcement to identify a threat before intervening? I don't feel bad for him. I don't think this is "big brother" either.
  5. Perhaps it isn't genetic, but it WOULD be unnatural to not find her incredibly hot. If I was to take up stalking, she is where I would start.
  6. To be fair, the intruder died from embarrassment, not the wound.
  7. Interesting. I just learned something new.
  8. It is really this simple. The complicated part would be getting the folks on the far side of each issue to compromise to this. Instead it will be a game of tug-a-war that will continue on for the foreseeable future with both sides being unreasonable and over the top. In the end, gay marriage will be recognized by the gov and the country will continue on, or we'll all die in a fiery brimstone hailstorm, just like when women got the right to vote.
  9. The Internet is unnatural. So are antibiotic medicine, birth control, condoms and blow jobs. When the gov tells me that I can't have any of those because it is "unnatural" then you better believe I'm going to be using my rifle against the gov. Especially over the last one.
  10. It shouldn't matter if it's 6 or 6 million. Perhaps it only matters in regard to the amount of attention that it gets from the media and such, but quantity shouldn't define policy. If that were the case we could just ignore rights of American Jews; after all, Jews make up less than 2% of the US population so... eff 'em, right? Bottom line, no matter which side you sit on the debate it shouldn't matter how many butt buddies there are out there. It should matter what is right and what is wrong. Now, we have a split on what the definitions of that is, but when it comes to the validity of a certain group of people, it shouldn't be discounted just because the group is a minority. That isn't what freedom is all about... well, I guess it is convenient when you're the majority, huh? Remember that years down the road if the time comes that socialist liberals significantly outnumber the far right conservatives. Your opinions will mean nothing at that point, and based on your logic, it shouldn't.
  11. Good point indeed. All the more reason to have property with a mote; those zombies can drown. Maybe some sharks with freakin' laser beams just for good measure.
  12. What is "right" is a subjective term.
  13. Where did we leap from holding at gunpoint to shooting someone for stealing???
  14. It isn't illegal to tape a bunch of road flares to your chest as a fashion statement and walk into a crowded mall, but doing so is going to get you rolled up by the cops, as it should. This is in the same realm. If he keeps up stunts like this he will end up getting smoked by police or a HCPer.
  15. Ha, well it's funny because you feel they way until you have kids, then you find yourself crawling on your hands and knees helping build a Lego fort because it is just that awesome. I wanted a son, but never could relate to a kid his age until it was one of my own. Then it all comes natural. But, if you don't want kids in the first place then you shouldn't have them. The solution to the world's problems isn't more people, but if you want kids I can promise that you won't regret the decision.
  16. My wife and I had that long before we had kids. Then we had kids and it seemed like the meddling comments increased tenfold. Both sides of the family have already experienced the wrath of a father who doesn't tolerate that nonsense. I give it a few more years before they get brave enough to say anything again.
  17. I'm not ready to accept that it's going that way. I'm sure just a misunderstanding.
  18. That is another very, very good point.
  19. Since many states have laws against having guns in places of worship I would say "yes" they should arm themselves. Generally these mass shootings take place is areas where guns are prohibited or uncommon. I don't think it is a great leap in logic to assume these murders plan their attacks around the probability of a potential victim being armed. But, once again, that is using logic and that has no place in a discussion about firearms.
  20. Expect haggling. If you don't like it then mark the price "firm". If a price is marked firm I won't put an offer on it unless its full price. Otherwise it's fair game. Folks that don't care for that system can take it to a gun store or a pawn shop and see how good a deal they get.
  21. Correct. The government doesn't create a good economy, but, as is proven, they can certainly create a bad one. Taxes, overregulation and deficit destroy our economy.
  22. No. But then again, I don't do a lot of pistol training past 10 meters. G19 is where it's at. Every house should have a 12 ga, AK and a G19.
  23. Well it's been more than a decade since I've touched MILES gear, and I would assume they would have new stuff by now, or at least a better version. I still remember using the bulletproof bush for cover and turning my M16 into an infinite ammo M60 by smacking the top of the MIILES on my rifle.
