It's not like conventional Soldiers are just redeploying by getting on a plane in Liberia and landing at Ft Campbell. There are theater gateways. Normally, units are stuck at these gateways for a time before returning. If they're doing that with troops coming back from Iraq/Afghanistan, I don't see why they wouldn't do that when a unit is returning from west Africa. I suppose the scenario of a Soldier bringing it back would be relevant if he was on emergency leave and departed theater rapidly, but I'm going to assume there are procedures already in place for that to ensure an infected Soldier isn't redeployed. I got the CD set from Books A Million when they were running a deal. Seems like they always have something going on. It ended up being around 30% off by getting their membership card in addition to the special they were running. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have the CD version (Latin American Spanish), but have only made it through Lesson 1. I ended up having a pretty busy summer, so it put stuff on hold. It is a great program compared to another program I completed for another language years ago. Like anything, if you don't use it, you lose it. I had Spanish in high school and college, so going at it from this angle reactivated stuff in my brain which had been long forgotten. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It definitely wouldn't be something they'd get up and walk away from if they survived. I was just pointing out that they aren't as damaging and explosive as they are made out to be in this story or in Hollywood. A regular frag grenade produces more, and deeper penetrating shrapnel than one of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe not. I've seen two direct hits of 40mm rounds and neither was impressive. One to the foot and the other to the torso. Torso hit was a kill, but didn't do much damage.... Not like one would think from watching lots of movies. He may have even lived if he wasn't left to bleed for an hour or so before he was recovered. Other guy lost part of his foot and had his legs full of coke can looking shrapnel, which none of it went very deep. 40mm is good for making noise and keeping heads down. That's about it. Oh, I didn't even think about this. Better check with my sister and aunt to make sure they don't have it. They almost got mad cow, SARS, swine flu, bird flu and anthrax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd look at these reports with high skepticism. People puke and crap themselves by the thousands every day. Now folks are panicking because the hype. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha, it said in the article that if this was a live round it would have "taken the ambulance apart". Apparently their explosives experts were all trained in Hollywood. These must be packed with the same explosives found in grenades that make people fly through the air. "Tactical nuke 40mm round, 1 each". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hopefully health care workers will take more seriously a patient when he states he just came from west Africa and isn't feeling well; perhaps even ask the patient if he/she has been exposed to the affected. I'm assuming this health care worker is one of the original ones who saw him prior to discharge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Shooting sticks are where it's at. Bipods are for the range and rooftops. Shooting sticks are for the field. For prone and sitting I used to use wooden dowels lashed together with 550 cord. The telescoping monopods are nice, I just didn't like the extra weight. Don't rest your barrel on it if you're making a longer shot. I've seen that a few times on hunting videos. Rest your stock on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Question Regarding a Possible Situation
TMF replied to 101's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It is a sad state that our society finds it more acceptable for someone to behave in an unsafe manner than a person who tells them to stop behaving in an unsafe manner. Folks wonder why there are so many people who act with zero regard for others. The reason is no one has ever told them they are wrong. Good people have no backbone nowadays, and the few that do are chastised for being hotheads; as if they are the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 25 replies

Help Overturn 18 USC 922(o) & NFA

The NRA has zero interest in having the NFA repealed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
My uncle has one like this on the gate to his property. Before he put it up, he had to shoot a guy a bunch of times to get the point across. Now he has a sign. He hasn't had to shoot any intruders for about 20 years. Maybe the sign is working? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Help Overturn 18 USC 922(o) & NFA

Ha, I read through this whole thing and was like, "he'd raise more money if he used a site like GoFundMe to gather donations." Then I see it at the top of the post.... DOH! Thanks for sharing this. It's up to 10k right now with only 67 donors on the first day. While this might be a pipe dream, I think it is always productive to challenge the system when it's jacked up, win or lose. Yep, my Yankee in-laws retired to the south to avoid the oppressive taxes on my MIL's pension. What's the first thing they do? Complain about how backwards everyone down there is, then register to vote. I would be shocked if my FIL was to bad mouth my home state in front of me again. His feeling is still the same, but he was introduced to a side of me he hadn't seen yet last time he ran his mouth. Just sickens me that these folks outside the south pat themselves on the back for being so tolerant and open minded, then make sweeping generalizations about crap they know nothing about. Wouldn't mind it so much if they'd just stay the hell out, and remain in the ****holes they came from. Why do they want to come to the south if it sucks so bad? (I know the answer, but none of those people would ever admit to it). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

True, but in most cases where a home is targeted for firearms, cash or drugs, the burglar has inside information on the stash either through contact with the victim or third party. Personally, I don't have any signs out which suggest I'll shoot intruders for two reasons: 1. I don't want it to be used against me in a civil case, 2. It's tacky to do in a nice neighborhood. I have a security alarm, a tasteful sign in the flower bed indicating alarm service, and a man eating dog. This is more than enough deterrent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Considering that over 1/3 of US homes have firearms, I hardly think knowledge of one existing in a home based on a sign indicating the resident's willingness to use violence would embolden a person to target that house. I would say it is more likely that a person would be deterred by a sign which suggest the occupants are willing to kill intruders. Nothing is 100%, of course. Just like putting a security alarm sign in your yard won't deter 100%, doesn't mean it isn't effective. Of course it is. The whole point of taking active measures to deter crime is to appear a harder target than your neighbors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dammit, I believe you are right. Damn Obama for running his mouth 2 years ago. I'm stocked up on CCI mini mags, but I can't shoot it because I'm afraid I can't replace it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

By looking on Armslist and craigslist it seems like the only place one can find .22. Not only that, the last time I spoke to the sporting goods guy a Walmart, he explained that it is the same few people waiting in the mornings to buy out all the stock. Seems to be the case all around the country. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks. It seems that snake oil sales haven't really evolved in the last few hundred years. Folks should always be skeptical of people who incite panic only to roll that into a solution, which comes at a small price. It's how beauty companies manipulate women into buying crap. It's how liberals push gun legislation. To Obama's credit, for all the crises we've had in the past couple years, he hasn't done much in proposing solutions. I rest easy that his incompetence is genuine.

The life prolonging thing is my main motivator. I inherited high blood pressure, and diet has little effect on it. The only way to keep it down to a manageable level without medication is exercise. I like my coffee and beer, so no exercise also means no coffee or beer. That is a problem for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
