  1. Yep, I recall my first pistol purchase the cost was split between my roommate and I because we wanted a pistol for the apartment but couldn't afford a decent one. Gas was cheap back then, yet I can never remember having money for a full tank. I can't imagine what it's like for folks now. Some people clearly don't understand that though and likely never will.
  2. That doesn't mean it is healthy for the fetus. That baby depends on the parents to make the right choices to keep them healthy and safe. There are inherent risks to a developing fetus when you introduce lead and extreme noise levels, even only a little bit. One shouldn't require a doctor to tell them that.
  3. Quite simply, I'm not a doctor and even if I was I probably couldn't tell you definitively one way or the other if being on a range for an extended period whilst pregnant is harmful to your unborn child. I do know that I wouldn't take that risk. Between the noise and the lead exposure, sorry, not worth the risk. Many things can affect the development of a fetus. I don't think there is enough information out there to say that limited exposure on a range is dangerous, but just because there haven't been studies doesn't mean the risk isn't there. I wouldn't do it. Just wait 'til the baby is born.
  4. Hey, let's try to keep this on topic! I don't want us to get sidetracked from the topic of pirates vs ninjas.
  5. In my opinion, this is one of those things that taxes are for. The onus should not be on the individual to pay/prove he can carry, it should be on the state if they make that requirement. If the state doesn't want to pay for it, great. Constitutional carry solves that problem.
  6. My experience with long range shooting is almost entirely surrounding a rifle with a factory guarantee of 1 MOA. Of course, sub MOA with 118LR out of that rifle was normal, I hardly experienced 1/2 MOA accuracy with the exception of special loads within 400m in low/non-existent wind. I know there are few rifles out there which guarantee 1/2 MOA out of the box, and even the ones that do can't achieve that easily with environmental conditions at distance. Hearing of a rifle that shoots consistent 1/2 MOA is still impressive in my world. So, could one expect to achieve such accuracy with a Wally World .308 DPMS with a SASS barrel? If so I'm going to tell my cousin to make it happen so I can get behind it in the spring at distance.
  7. Scuba ninjas.
  8. Me neither, but that isn't the point. Everyone, regardless of economic status, should have access to the privilege of defending themselves.
  9. Tracking; will keep the victim operated foogas charges on hold for the zombie apocolypse. Of course, if the OP wanted to be less "dramatic" he could just hook one of those 135db rape alarms to the same pull-tab trip wire, and that will certainly keep them from coming back again; especially if they never feel the trip wire they activate, they'll never know what set the alarm off and won't try to deactivate it in the future, they'll just move on to someone else's house. A very dangerous game they're playing. It could very easily be interpreted that they are trying to gain access if they are kicking the door very hard. That's delving into shooting territory. Having two small kids in the house, I can say that if my door flys open from a kick I'm makin the assumption a home invasion is happening.
  10. They are? I do the same pyro booby trap to alert me to vandals every year for Halloween after my stuff was trashed one year. Talking to a cop buddy of mine he thought it was hilarious.
  11. True, my dog usually spits out human body parts when she's done with them as opposed to digesting them.
  12. I do this every year with my Halloween decorations.
  13. Game camera paired with trip wire initiated pyro, such as the largest firecracker you can get in TN. They will likely crap their pants thinking they were being shot at.
  14. Yes, clearly you're a better man than the rest of us.
  15. Haha, this is probably the only thing I've seen a near unanimous agreement on this board.
  16. Is your AR-10 platform also a DPMS? I have a relative that was looking for advice on an economical long range AR-10 and I had suggested getting a Wally World DPMS AR-10. I'm wondering if these would perform well with a SASS barrel.
  17. Ouch indeed!

    AR Pistol

Awesome! I thought really hard about getting one of these when they first came out but didn't want to wait. Any plans to SBR it?
  19. Ha, I think the 670-1 Gods are more forgiving nowadays. Just an observation from the last time I was in a chow hall.
  20. Having dealt with an instructor nearly exactly like Yeager before, I can totally agree with this statement. I would never subject my blood pressure to such an instructor again so long as I can help it.
  21. Personally I don't think this rises to the level of criminally negligent; not unless there are aggravating factors we're not aware of. My issue was folks making light of the father's error on trigger and muzzle discipline. Such simple and basic safety procedures that can have catastrophic outcomes if not adhered to. This case should serve as a cautionary tale for gun owners so that people do the right thing, every time. Clearly there is too much at stake to be complacent. I don't even want to imagine the horror that this father is living right now.
  22. Ahhhhh! Derailed again!
  23. Thanks for getting us back on topic! ...hehe.
  24. You should be able to find scope rings in just about any size for your flat top. On a side note, I saw one of these in Walmart the other day for $597 and was going to suggest it to a friend as an entry AR since the M&P Sports are hard to come by. How do you like it? Does it come with iron sights?
  25. The only expectation of truth I have in print news is the date time group at the top of the article being correct.
