  1. I just tried to do a routine gun buy (not a panic buy) and was there for an hour waiting for the background check to clear. After the guy called in to ask about it they said it'd be more than another hour on the TICS. I had to tell him I'd come back tomorrow to pick it up. I knew a lot of people were buying but this was rediculous.
  2. Considering you just cut and pasted their search criteria, this thread should be causing blinking lights to go off at DHS while Jack Bauer prepares a dynamic entry through your front door to stop the next terrorist threat. At any rate, Feliz Navidad DHS analyst!
  3. Didn't the same thing happen with that O'Donnell dude about 10 years ago in the same airport?
  4. Whatever. They raised their prices on mags by 500% in order to cash in on the panic buying in the wake of a tragedy. I want to see them choke on their own unethical practices and go under. The fact they are backpeddling now only pisses me off more, because they are insulting the intelligence of the gun owning community by assuming we aren't smart enough to know what they're doing. They just need to fly that flag proudly if that is how they consistently conduct business. Eff 'em.
  5. No. I have all the stuff I want. The stuff on my wish list will wait until this hype blows over. Another shiny object will distract people from this horrific event in a week or so... probably something Kardashian or Beiber related.
  6. The only reason I figure schools haven't been targeted is because they know the backlash would be so severe. It would be like 9/11 rolled into the CT shooting. Even the libs would be screaming for blood, and they would get it.
  7. I saw this on channel 2 and was thinking the same thing. He surely didn't want to tussle with a victim that was armed. I wish more people had HCPs. It would greatly reduce the amount of violent crime once criminals were consistently confronted with armed resistance. Of course, our DA will probably dismiss or greatly reduce charges on this guy which will embolden the criminal to step up his game when he gets released. The crime in Clarksville exists because of a slimy DA who provides a consequence free environment to criminals.
  8. These people better hope I never get cancer.
  9. Guns and Leather was just on News 2. Those walls were looking pretty bare. I'm glad I have all the stuff I want.
  10. There is a company that makes a hammer down retro kit for 1911s where it cocks it when you disengage the safety. I know that sounds hokey, but I fired one that a family member had last month and it works just fine. Pretty neat concept for those not comfortable having their hammer back.
  11. What's wrong with your 1911?
  12. What Caster said. If it weren't for the holiday madness I'd link up with you this weekend at the MCSC, but I don't think I'll be able to sneak away in the afternoon. You should have no shortage of volunteers though.
  13. That is very offensive.
  14. Me too, but I have to admit, I was a little self conscious this weekend when I was out and about. I have young kids, so when I pick them up my pistol gets exposed sometimes, which normally doesn't bother me, but folks are pretty on edge right now. I don't feel like spooking the herd.
  15. Saw this on Facebook earlier. Unfortunately, I already bought my dad's Christmas present. Maybe this coming up Father's Day.
  16. I'm sure some of us wouldn't care either way. It's a tragedy. I'll not focus on every individual tear, sniffle or show of emotion the President makes looking for something more sinister. If I had a nation looking towards me to speak about the horror that occurred I wouldn't be composed. I can't even talk to my spouse about it. I can't even look at the pictures of those kids.
  17. If they do like they did in the 90's, it might be wise to scoop up some stripped lowers to build on later. My fund is strapped, but I have at least two builds I'd like to do someday, but can't drop 3 grand right now.
  18. Yeah, I'm impressed at what a cool customer this gentleman was. From what I recall reading back then his shot placement was good, and he wounded the guy with several torso hits, but the guy was running away and at an angle and the rib cage is a very strong piece of armor. Nonetheless, he successfully achieved the desired result and those two will probably be changing their career to burglary rather than armed robbery.
  19. Glancing hits with a .380. Didn't kill them, but stopped the threat. Really, even with decent shot placement, folks don't always go right down. A 90lb deer hit with a 175 gr bullet moving 2,000 fps through both lungs might still go quite a ways before it stops.
  20. I saw it on Robin Meade. Not really a big story since it happens all the time. Perhaps if it was a gunman who was locked and loaded for a shooting spree rather than a couple of morons looking to plus up their cocaine fund it would have been bigger news. Either way, media only has the responsibility to report news that will attract viewers so they can sell advertising space. If the average person doesn't care about an old guy giving a lesson to a couple of wippersnappers, don't expect it to be the leading story on a national level, especially at the climax of a Presidential campaign. Just some thoughts.
  21. This was actually national news a few months ago when this happened.
  22. The finger pointing, blame game, speculation and anti-gun theme is all a result of people not willing to face the harsh reality that evil exists, and there is little to nothing we can do as a society to prevent or stop it. The only way evil can be mitigated is at the individual level. Life is not safe, and is terminal by design. That is scary to folks, and is illustrated dramatically when something like the CT shooting happens. The fact is, we are never safe no matter where we are. Someone bent on destruction will most likely achieve their goal if they planned properly and even with all the preparedness in the world, you may still lose. Do what you can to stay protected, but accept that risk will never, ever be mitigated to zero. That is a very scary realization to the average person. The answer to the question people keep asking is simple: "How can something like this happen?" "Because evil does exist."
  23. Do wha?? Didn't know that story. I'm surprised that didn't come up in the recent nasty Ward 9 race between him and Wallace.
  24. I tend to avoid that part of town during the months of November and December.... less due to my safety... more for the safety of others lest I snap.
  25. By myself or with my wife I'd keep my weapon holstered. If I have my three year old holding my hand or I'm carrying my baby and someone comes at me, the gun is coming out and it's up to him of I use it.
