1. Don't kid yourself. More than a few females will meet the requirements for those combat arms jobs because they'll just lower the standards. I'm so effing glad I'm not in the military anymore. Obama is making it clear it is just a social experiment, not an organization that should be focused on closing with and destroying the enemy.
 2. Awesome. Now we just need to lower all the standard so they can serve in those jobs, so that way it'll be "fair". To hell with readiness and standards.
 3. Considering that when you go into the MCSO to get your NFA paperwork done there is a retiree volunteer that more or less helps you with your paperwork becuase he truly doesn't want your stuff kicked back from the ATF, I'd say Montgomery County is the last place on earth you need to worry. The only issue we have is carry in parks. It is a crime to carry in many parks in Clarksville, as per the city council. I tried to get a resolution in this year, but not enough Clarksvillians here on TGO decided to contact their Ward reps to get their stance. So carry in parks will continue to be illegal (in the main parks) until folks decide to do something about it.
 4.
Unfortunately the military knows how to take the fun out of almost anything and that includes shooting.  Most Soldiers really do not get a lot of trigger time and when they do its usually hurry up and qualify.  You wouldnt enjoy it as much either if you went to range at 4 or 5 in the morning came home late at night just to shoot 58 rounds
You just need to reclass to an MOS that gets a lot of trigger time.
 5. I'm totally lost.
 6.
I don't think it's a cause at all (if you read my posts defending the gruesome media in Japan), but it does help to show how we have an issue and we don't know for sure what causes it.
I agree. Unfortunately, not every problem has a solution, at least not a viable one. In the cases of murderers the problem is simply that evil people exist. Always have, always will, and we will never change that. Taking away the tools to defend against evil will do no good. The only way to ensure a defect free society is to lobotomize everyone at birth and allow the government to control every aspect of your life to make sure you don't do anything harmful to yourself or anyone else.
 7.
the sigs have a lot of snap to them
They do, and they are prone to stove piping when shot limp wristed, or at least the older P226 I had was. Took me a while to figure out why it only malfunctioned when my mom and my girlfriend shot it.

 9.
Someone may have already mentioned it but there is this thing called a CALEA Certification that it and $99 gets a sweet tea at McD's. Anyway to be a CALEA certified agency your hsndguns must not be more than 4 years old. Long guns can be older. Really the whole thing is quirky, but it kind of brings up morale in the department, makes everything look great, and the probably justifies more pay for the brass.
Meanwhile the militaries of the world will issue and reissue the same weapon for over half a century. I deployed to Iraq with a machinegun and pistol that were both made before the Brits were put under Eisenhower.
 10.
holy jesus that is terrible.     And this is exactly why the story needs to be spread and is being hidden by the media:         Hopefully the NRA people get ahold of that tidbit
I think the obsession with killing in video games is a symptom of a problem, not the Genesis of it. Not to say that anyone playing a violent video game is violent, but folks who do have an obsession with perpetrating violence would naturally be attracted to those games as an outlet. I don't think it would encourage an already violent sociopath to do anything he wouldn't already do. Let's not forget there were mass murderers long before the Xbox. The Columbine killers didn't have such graphic shooting games when they planned their massacre. It makes just as much sense to blame the fact that they probably never got laid, and all that built up, non-sex having frustration is what set them off. Perhaps true, since a common denominator with these killers is a lack of action with the ladies, but is that a cause or a symptom of an existing issue? I dunno, but I do know if these guys were getting poon they wouldn't be focused on destruction. So do we blame the ladies for being stingy?
 11. I'm doing my job to normalize the market by not buying anything right now.
 12.
You all have made some very good points, and I appreciate it.  I probably should have made my initial post clearer, with regards to kids.   They are my main concern- as I and several others of you have talked about.  I know I wouldn't do anything dumb with it, but I also was once a kid who did stupid things, so, there's my concern.   I really like the idea of the small safe by the bed.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/GunVault-Mini-Storage-Vault/4861129 $80 bucks at above link. This is similar to the one I own. I have my 1911 and Glock 19 inside, plus extra mags. It opens by key or punch pad. You will not regret the peace of mind you get from owning this. I used to keep my pistol in a high drawer, but kids will learn how to climb and use chairs eventually. Best to stay inside of their decision cycle.
 13. Very nice. I don't think you'll be disappointed with that trade, especially in 6 months when you can get ARs cheap again.
 14. I haven't shot one of those Czech pistols everyone raves about, but I think a collection isn't complete without a BHP. For a range toy it has my vote. Between the weight, light round and single action it is a dream to shoot for novices in terms of being accurate. Plus it is iconic.
 15.
In my carry class, we were told the sign could be crayon on cardboard simply stating "No Guns", and it was legal.   It's the intent of the sign, not the exact wording.  That's what we were told, anyway.
I looked over the law and nowhere does it say that a sign's "intent" makes anything a crime. Your instructor was putting out bad information purposefully, or he is just incapable of reading the law. I'm not a lawyer, but I don't suppose one has to be in order to understand the very simple bullets of the law on this.
 16.
Yeah thats kind of what I was thinking as long as I can find ammo for the dang things they dont have no tapco furniture and the mags arent tapco dont know why i said that they are promag still cheap stuff and no they dont come with regular mags I will let him keep the dot sight because that is one of the things he likes about the rifle mine comes with 12 mags though 2 cheapos 7 pmags and 3 troy battle mags Im gonna see about trying to keep the troys good Idea thanks
Still an okay deal on your end with all that. I assume he is a friend or an acquaintance, otherwise I wouldn't volunteer so many mags on your end without any decent AK74 mags coming from his. AK74 mags ain't cheap right now, and I imagine it'd take two AR mags to fetch decent AK74 mag.
 17.
Honestly, I saw this picture before having enough coffee this morning and it just rubbed me the wrong way.  I posted it as a knee jerk reaction, but that's okay because that is how this country operates now, right?  Seriously though, it just seems like they are getting in the face of gun owners and trying to stir something up.
Was this the one in Clarksville?
 18.
this is mine that i will be trading      Upper:   Spike's Tactical Upper 223 Rem 556NATO 16"  1:7 Chrome Lined Flat Top YHM Handguard Lower: Is spikes as well all lower parts are also spikes   What is not spikes   Colt m16 fullauto bolt carrier   Magpul ACS stock "FDE" Primary Arms Minidot with High rise mount and Quik detech base
Looks like a good trade so long as the two AKs aren't jacked up and it has good furniture... not TAPCO crap, but original furniture. I'd retain the Primary Arms sight though. The rail system adds value to your item. He doesn't have any good mags with it? If you have a bunch of AR mags I'd only let a few go with the rifle in the trade (3-4) and use the rest as trade/sale fodder for some good AK74 mags.
 19. My wife is not a fan of the donkey punch either, but it's always difficult introducing new things.... give it time. Now, back to rifles. What kind of AR do you have? Don't count any whiz bang magpul stuff into the value. A $50 grip doesn't add $50 to the rifle. Unless it's a high end rifle (like DD) I'd make the trade. You'll be able to fetch more money for the two AKs down the road if you choose to sell, or if you decide you want something else you can sell the one AK and use the cash towards another addition.
 20.
I don't think that single issue is the killer in the Republican electorate a lot of folks here do.   - OS
I don't either, but my money is on it not passing. A few weeks ago I would have thought otherwise, but things are starting to get back to normal and I think people have had enough of the "gun owners are nuts" stories that it has lost all meaning.
 21. I couldn't even find those at my Wally World before the madness. I shot up the last of my .22 brick before I left town.
 22.
So does that mean that signs with pictures of a handgun with a slash are valid, as well as signs that reference 39-17-1359? What about something like this:
No, you shouldn't be convicted of a crime if you carry passed that sign. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't tell you to leave for carrying.
 23. Looks like you did a good job. I always have enjoyed plinking with SKSs. Such good rifles, and affordable when folks aren't panicked. I still have one but regret selling his Romanian brother years back.
 24. Any republicans that attach their name to this thing might as well put property they have in DC on the market, because they won't be there long.
 25. Most of those murders are taking place in Gangland. The police would actually do something if the crime was impacting tourism, which it doesn't appear to be. All the touristy areas I go to in Chicago usually have plenty of uniformed officers around. Let those in crime ridden neighborhoods suffer under the boot of gangs and drug dealers. They are the ones who harbor them and refuse to cooperate with police or take a stand for their community.
