  1. So the US Army buys ammo made in the Czech Republic? News to me. I've fired close to half a million rounds of issued M855 and it didn't look like those.
  2. Well PTSD isn't specific to combat. Anyone who has suffered a traumatic event could suffer from it; some examples being a near death experience, violent assault, rape or or encounter with Bronies. With that come different levels and symptoms. I think some of the stuff that was seen in WWI was probably the most severe and common. Folks living under constant bombardment, all day everyday, with death being more of a certainty than surviving. That kinda psychological mind screw would drive anyone crazy over enough time. Nowadays we don't see sustained combat which last weeks at a time with astronomical casualties, and death is more of a possibility than a certainty. Still, seeing some of the awful things one sees in war, and having to do some pretty awful things to other humans can be an emotional event; especially through the eyes of an 18 year old. I think it would be abnormal for something like that NOT to affect a young person. But the manner in which most folks who get their understanding of war and its effects in drive-by fashion, such as on the news or in a movie should take into account that there may be more to it than a black and white situation, such as "that guy has PTSD so he sees dead people and has nightmares". That's where Ron Paul gathered his info for his ignorant statement, but making light of it with his comment is so disrespectful on so many levels. Kyle was trying to do something good and was killed. There is no excuse for attacking him. He should be honored and remembered as a patriot, not disrespected.
  3. For whom? The US Army doesn't get its ammo made in the Czech Republic, and ammo is still marked M855 on the crates everywhere I see it.
  4. Okay, I've never seen that before. I've only been familiar with the US issue 855 ball with a green tip... a slightly different hue and never the whole tip of the round. Just wanted to make sure someone didnt try to rip you off. I've seen stuff at gun shows before being sold as "green tip" that was obviously just dipped in green paint.
  5. PTSD is a very broad term label and doesn't absolutely define someone as unstable. I have a good buddy who has issues related to service after seeing some good friends of his get killed in a pretty horrible way. That doesn't mean he's waking up choking his wife or digging foxholes in his front yard. That is a Hollywood representation meant to inspire dramatics. One other thing, Kyle wasn't "treating" anyone as a medical provider. This was a support group type thing. And I think that making the broad assumption that a person who suffers PTSD can't be on a rifle range is just redonkulous. Plenty of folks with it continue to function just fine, everyday carrying machine guns and grenades. Ron Paul is just being an idiot while at the same time insulting a man for serving his country.
  6. Looks like someone dipped that ammo in green paint. Green tip doesn't look like that.
  7. 4th Amendment. I don't suppose I'd decline an officer if he asked to run my numbers, but doing it without consent while at the same time not having PC to think it's stolen doesn't pass the sniff test. That would be like a cop seeing me on a cell phone and demanding I hand it over so he can run the IMEI number to determine if it is stolen. Total BS.
  8. It was our local cable service provider through Clarksville Department of Electricity. Historically they've had a lot of growing pains as they are new to the industry, and so they have a reputation for spotty service, but they were always very responsive and helpful. Over the past year and a half there have been a lot of staff changes and I think that has something to do with it. So I emailed several of their higher ups to include the interim superintendent to let them know what is going on with their company. They were calling my wife within a half hour of sending the email, reimbursed us for several months of service and comped some of our bill. The response was enough to make clear that the issue was isolated to personalities within their customer service center which I assume is going to be corrected.
  9. Yeah, but regular folks get a by for being ignorant. Someone who is enforcing the law needs to know better. I would have corrected those officers if they said such a thing. I can only imagine they would disagree with me and be forced to take me to jail when I re chamber a round. I'm not sure what my recourse would be for being arrested for breaking a law that doesn't exist, but I'm not going to be dictated the law from someone who doesn't even know it.
  10. Yeah, but it ain't illegal to have one in the chamber if you have a HCP. That is some basic knowledge stuff that an officer should know.
  11. I voted for Paul in the primary although there are many policies I don't agree with, but that is true of any candidate. So there is a degree of support for Paul in terms of his ideals. However, his comments being separate from that show an insensitive, disrespectful and vindictive personality trait. It is clear what his intentions were with that comment. If there is any doubt, that last line should remove such doubt; where he says that it doesn't make sense to treat PTSD on the range. Pretty much saying the guy is a dummy while somehow connecting his service record in Iraq and Afghanistan to his demise (re: "live by the sword, die by the sword"). It isn't the fault of our servicemen where they are sent or the missions they are expected to conduct. That is up to our leadership in Washington. His comments make it clear that he is projecting his disdain for those in Washington responsible for perpetrating the war onto my fellow veterans who have ZERO control over where they are sent or what they are tasked to do. For these reasons I hope that Ron Paul slips and falls into a feces filled toilet and drowns on excrement, so that his corpse may be one with what Ron Paul's memory will be. A pile of human sh**.
  12. Yeah, folks always post something about "why would you do anything other than just hunker down?", without considering that some of us have children. There is no option there. If someone breaks into my home, where my children sleep, there is nothing in the world that will keep me from finding them and preventing them from getting anywhere near my kids. For this reason, my reaction is immediate. The flashlight and gun is in my hand and I'm out the door of the bedroom ready to shoot. We had a scare last year where the alarm went off in the middle of the night. I can tell you that I was able to clear a three story structure in less than 45 seconds, based on the timing of the alarm company calling. No shoes, no pants, no problem. There is only one concern I have and that is eliminating the threat as fast as possible and I only need a bang stick and a light to make that happen.
  13. Back in 2008 I thought that Hillary would have been worse on us than Barry, but now I'm not so sure. Gun control issues aside, Obama has been on a crusade to sink US business since he took office. I don't believe Hillary would have been this bad.
  14. And if a turd falls from an airplane and kills you you're SOL. That's life.
  15. Can't take out large game with a .22 rifle, but you can take out small game with a .22 pistol. I'd go for the large bore rifle and .22 pistol.
  16. Okay, had to read the caption at the bottom to figure out why they would build such a thing. Makes sense I guess. I don't imagine it is all that quiet though for the folks that are on the range.
  17. Those deputies just need adult supervision. I would have asked for their Sgts name and contact info. At a minimum he needs to contact the Sheriff and inform him that his deputies need to sit through remedial training on TN handgun carry laws.
  18. A flashlight and a bang stick of some sort should be all you need.
  19. Got on a range once with a recently assembled bolt from my parts box. Couldn't figure out why I had a single shot rifle. No gas rings on the bolt.... a very goober moment.
  20. I'm sure they make small talk, just like most talk shows during a break. Probably goes something like this: Ted: "So, Peirs, I hear you have a vagina where most men have a penis."
  21. The hyphenated name principal... Sometimes stereotypes are real time savers.
  22. Legislating responsibility. Sounds like a great idea for anyone who does not believe in the principles of liberty.
  23. Haven't you seen any movies? Clearly anyone that fought for the Confederate States was just a spawn of Satan.... Pure evil. Surely the hundreds of thousands of dirt poor farmers who died in battle willingly gave their lives so the wealthy could retain their slaves. Just like every last Union Soldier was concerned only with abolition and was willing to die for it. Isn't that what the war was all about?
  24. The assumption I was speaking of was the poor customer relations on the part of the clerk. Having worked I customer service for 6 grueling years, I take poor customer service very seriously as I know it is not that hard to take pride in your work even if you don't make much. I will normally engage the person directly as opposed to getting them in trouble with their boss, and if they give me a poor answer I take it to the next level. If I don't like the answer there then I will no longer patronize that business. I recently had an experience such as this with a service. I engaged a customer service representative with my issues and they were not helpful, nor did they process my issue to my satisfaction. In fact, I would classify their act as theft, as I paid for a service that was not rendered. Since it was not handled correctly I contacted a person high up the chain and informed them of the situation and that I wanted my money back and an answer on whether or not I am valued as a customer. The letter was much more in depth than that, but the answer I received was better than good. Not only did I receive a refund and a bunch of free stuff (which was not my intention) I was able to make suggestions to help correct the problem with their customer service, which they seemed genuinely concerned with doing. It changed my opinion on the company. Now, had the response been unsatisfactory I would tell everyone I knew not to do business with these people in an attempt to steer customers away. But if I didn't give them a chance I would feel guilty damaging their reputation. Kinda like the rule of never say anything behind someone's back (or on the Internet) unless you're willing to say it to their face.
  25. Well if you feel if they got huffy with you about it then I agree they are in the wrong and deserved to be outed. I just feel as if in business and personal relationships, the party being bashed should always be made aware of the reasons you are upset before bashing them so they have the opportunity to correct their behavior or validate your assumptions.
