I have never been asked by anyone. As far as I know, no one has ever noticed, and I prefer it to stay that way.

Armed citizens force officials to back down
TMF replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I saw the video last week. I bet that pants wetting councilman that left the meeting because of one armed veteran was really wetting his pants at 160 of them. Good story. I especially like some of the comments from participants. -

Either way, the responsible parties need to be accountable. This is absolutely unacceptable. -

I'm entertaining the thought that he is just a lying piece of human trash, and a narcissistic sociopath who blames everyone else for his problems rather than accepting responsibility. Call me crazy, but anyone who murders two innocent people unprovoked has credibility issues. -
Yeah, and an Abrams tank ain't a T-62. They're a little harder to keep running. To put this in perspective, well over half of the Humvees we gave the Iraqis and Afghans are non operational. Even if you didn't count the combat losses, it would still be over half of what they've been given that should otherwise be working, doesn't. They can't keep the stuff running without parts and know-how. I'm curious to know what the maintenance packages on these are, but if it wasn't specified in the order or it changed or is subject to change, I suspect that will be the back channel way of rendering these weapon systems useless. I don't think I'm underestimating them when I say that the Egyptians are incapable of reverse engineering this stuff to manufacture durable parts. Maybe the Iranians, but that would be way off in the future and doubtful they'd go through that trouble for an "iffy" ally such as Egypt.
-
The Iranians still have F-14s we gave to the Shah, but they still can't match our technology in terms of targeting systems. Hell, they can barely keep them airborne between the sanctions and having to reverse engineer all the spare parts. These F-16s we're giving away might as well be outdated Migs, and are no match for what we and the Israelis have. I don't think we should have given them squat, but it doesn't make the region any more unstable than it already is, and it doesn't give them any advantage over the Israelis. Of course, I'm gonna effing vomit if I see that monkey piece of garbage Ahmadninejad sitting on an Abrams tank.

One thing is for sure, this guy has been planning this for a while. He didn't write that manifesto in an hour, and he didn't just happen to know where to find that police officer's daughter. He's had time to think about it, which proves my point once again that no matter what laws you pass, you can't stop someone from doing something crazy. It can't be legislated. It has been around forever and will always be around. Crazy folks doing crazy stuff is here to stay. The only folks that can stop evil are the folks that encounter it. -
Goggles used to be a big part of my former line of work. I never got use to them. I've tried every type of anti fog solution known to man. It doesn't matter once you start sweating. I'd rather take the risk of eye damage than a loss of situational awareness, so the goggles didnt last long. I strictly used M-frames and had great success with those. Still had issues with ambient stuff floating in the after a dust up from aircraft or things blowing up, but nothing that couldn't be handled in exchange for not wearing goggles. I had a few buddies that had the goggles with the fans in them. They were pretty darn cool, but still cumbersome, and I hate the feeling of having my nose pinched.

Not to mention they have a finite amount of munitions available for those weapons systems. I don't know how ammo re supply works on that contract, but I would be very surprised if either the Iranians or Egyptians could figure out how to domestically produce guided munitions that works with the F16s we gave them. I guess they could make 105mm rounds pretty easy, but they aren't gonna be the good ones like we have. I do think its troubling though, the relationship of convenience developing between the two administrations. I can't help but wonder how Morsi is maintaining support domestically, since Shias are not favored by most Sunni Egyptians. Then again, I guess Mubarak was never that popular either.

I'd have no problem with the PDs doing that in order to "take guns off the street" and put them in the hands of law abiding citizens, while at the same time turning a profit. Of course, the media would crucify any PD that did this.

I understand the reason everyone deserves their day in court; it's less about the person and more to do with our system. But this man has killed two people and should be considered extremely dangerous. He has the opportunity to surrender. If he chooses not to do it then LE has to assume he is still armed and very dangerous. Any encounter with him where this suspect doesn't immediately surrender should be met with gun fire. -

I don't underestimate the hatred cops have for cop killers, having grown up in a LEO household. When one of their own gets killed things get a little more serious, so I'm willing to believe their actions were less related to an implied or specified task from their commanders, and more to do with wanting to kill a cop killer. I'm totally cool with that, but opening fire without a PID is reckless and criminal. -
I can't tell how accurate it is without knowing how many rounds he fired, but 7 hits on a moving target ain't bad at all. I'd say he's plenty accurate.

Either way, LAPD needs to be bankrupted by the two shooting victims. I can't believe this is even possible for them to open fire on two separate vehicles on the same day with the occupants of both not being wanted for a crime or being armed at all. These are a bunch of trigger happy kids without adult supervision. -
The most ironic part about this is their military awards and ours are probably made at the same factory in China.

I may just be ignorant here, so LEOs feel free to correct me, but doesn't certain criteria have to be met in order to release a round in someone's direction? Seriously, one of the vehicles engaged had all the bulletholes in the rear, suggesting that the vehicle wasn't being used as a weapon, and the passenger was most likely not armed being that it wasn't the right person. I mean, they fired without even positively identifying the person. Is this amateur hour or what? Looks like a few more of LAPDs finest need to get a pink slip as well. -
They hadn't demonized gun owners and manufacturers enough in the press back then. Now it is being made clear to the public that every time a shooting happens it is the fault of the NRA, manufacturers and all gun owners. It's funny really, when you consider the liberal backlash from those anti drug commercials which suggested that drug users/buyers were responsible for all the violence in Central and South America. For some reason that correlation doesn't work, but an inanimate object locked up safely in my home is responsible for a shooting that takes place 2,000 miles away.

The Army uses A059, which is US green tip M855. M855 is the NATO standard, so all those make believe militaries in NATO make the same stuff, and it is suppose to be to the same standard. The Army started fielding M855A1 in Astan sometime last year. I don't know what the dodic is on it thought. Apparently it is more stable in flight and penetrates better at distance, or so says the folks at Aberdeen.

I bought a polymer on a whim. The price was so cheap and I had a few upper receiver parts sitting around, so I figured I'd build a new AR for under $400. I don't suppose I'd buy one for any other reason than to cut price, but now it doesn't seem to matter. Prices are so stupid that my plans to build a couple more ARs is on hold indefinitely. On another note, already tracking on AJTTOTD shirt on FB. Just the tip...... of the day.

Should Gun Owners Have To Buy Liability Insurance?
TMF replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just for the record, I have liability insurance. That is for me, not for someone else. Now, if someone does something grossly negligent that results in the severe injury or death of myself or a loved one, I do believe I am entitled to compensation from that person. If they happen not to have liability insurance then I will take it out of their bottom line. If they don't have a pot to piss in and I'm squeezing a rock, then oh well. That's life and sometimes things happen that you can't do anything about. If I found myself in that situation I would be pissed at the individual responsible, but the last thing I would think of would be having the government require all of its citizens to carry insurance (in the form of a tax, that's what it would be) in order to exercise a right. Besides, where is the assumption coming from that owning a gun means I intend to use it on another human being? I have lots of guns that will probably never be fired again as long as I own them, on the range or otherwise. My FIL owns one rifle which is locked in basement storage, which he doesn't even have ammo for. Once again, you're projecting your own beliefs and values on to others. -
It's not like your buddy is the first person to put thousands of rounds through a polymer lower. If it was a failure issue related to the lower two things would happen: 1. We'd see plenty of stories about it with actual fact, such as photographs/presentations 2. The company would be liable for injuries and damages related to such a failure.... and folks would know about it.

I never said I wouldn't. Whether or not I would isn't the point though. I don't want my public servants breaking the law any more than the citizens they serve.

Okay, now I'm tracking. M855 is just the NATO terminology or something. I remember when we had Brit ammo their stuff was the same but marked different. What I was referring to was US Army issued 855 which is A059 as I know it, and the green tip is marked differently than the stuff the Europeans manufacture. Of course, I've never seen any country mark the from the bullet tip all the way to the casing, and that threw me off big time.
