I'd suffer more trauma hitting a innocent dog with my truck than if I shot this sorry animal that needs to be put out of our misery.

Former LAPD officer subject of manhunt.
TMF replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm gonna say that a cop killer is a greater danger to the public than someone who murders someone during a robbery or some such. He has shown that he will kill at the drop of a hat and that he is desperate to make a splash in the media. I don't think this is a matter of a cops life being more valuable than a citizen's, I think this is about the unique threat this guy is to the public and the story behind all of this lunacy. That is why the press is eating this up and so much law enforcement is involved in this manhunt. -
No, I said I will inform the officer of my intentions to chamber a round, leaving him two choices: call in for legal advice or arrest me. You can go back and read it. It's still there just like I left it. And no, a LEO can not dictate to you what the law is if there is in fact no law he is referencing. Maybe the officer could tell me not to chamber a round in his presence due to officer safety or some crap, but if he is saying I can't do something because it is against the law when it is not I will defy that officer and inform him of my intentions to defy him, thus forcing his hand. I've done it before in Myrtle Beach when I was younger. A cop threatened to take me to jail over no violation of the law; just throwing his weight around and didnt like it when I said "no". I turned around, put my hands behind my back and told him to go ahead and arrest me. In the end he did not. Lucky for him there was an adult officer nearby who intervened. I have the utmost respect for good LEOs, but I have ZERO tolerance for a bully or dumbass with a badge.

I have the compact CDP II. I highly recommend it. I carry it every day. The weight and conceal-ability is nice. A very nice shooter too, just a bit more recoil than one is used to with a 1911.

Sorry you feel that way, but your comments made in response to me showed that you either didn't adequately read my original statement or you have reading comprehension problems. To suggest that I said I would use force to prevent arrest or attempt to escape in unfounded. You can't find that in my post. You were debating something that I wasn't even debating. I took that to mean you're making assumptions on my character with no basis for such assumptions. So instead of acting like a victim, how about acknowledging that and sack up a bit?

I know. I can remember when my father was promoted and had a bunch of officers he had to take care of. Some of the stories he had of the problem children would be funny if they weren't sad. Having been around so many LEOs over the years I always get the impression of extreme professionalism and calm demeanor, so hearing some of the crap he's had rookies do was quite surprising.

Right, I just detest the idea of suing government agencies and taking money from the tax pool. Of course, if a systemic problem exists the only way to solve it is to make it painful and hurt their bottom line. I'd just hate to see the good officers of a PD feel the pain of budget cuts because of negligent/substandard performance of one of their peers. I like it when the person responsible gets the pain.

Could Martial Law Be Right Around The Corner For Americans?
TMF replied to mcurrier's topic in General Chat
Florida doesn't have annual inspection requirements, or at least they didn't when I lived there. Also odd for FHP to be doing this. Generally speaking they don't have many Troopers on duty per county, unless it's on one of the major corridors like the turnpike, I-4/75/95. Certainly not enough for "checkpoints" of any kind that would cause several Troopers in a county to be static for a length of time. They'd have to be pulling a lotta guys on their day off to staff this. I'm thinking this is a joint effort with Homeland Security based on intelligence. Area denial/shaping operation type stuff. -
So in short, if a half wit officer arrests me for committing a crime that doesn't exist I will have his job or I will take it out of the department's bottom line. I'd hate to sue a department for the mistakes of a problem child, so my goal would be to see the officer returned to civilian status and flipping burgers.

There are many laws I don't expect LE to know. Laws concerning the carrying of firearms is definitely one they should know. That is skill level one type stuff. Any law enforcement officer that does not know the handgun carry laws is derelict in his duties. It isn't as if there is a secret crypt where this information is hidden. When I applied for my permit I found the rules in the TCA and educated myself. A law enforcement officer should be doing the same if he intends to enforce laws pertaining to that. Simply making an "on the spot" law that doesn't exist is a Barney Fief moment, and shows what an unprofessional mouth breather that cop is. If an officer is confused about a law he is free to educate himself at any time (and should since he is supposed to be enforcing the damn law) or he can get on the radio and call an adult to ask what the laws are. There is no room for debate here. You can't enforce laws that don't exist. Saying that there are too many laws for police to know them all I can agree with, but that means they shouldn't be ENFORCING laws that don't exist in the first place. That is the dumbest set of reasoning I've heard in a while. Who the f@$k is talking about conspiracy theories? Are we on the same topic here? And when did I say I would use force? Are you just making assumptions or something? I was talking about two dimwit cops that needed to be corrected on what the laws are. And I'm not kidding when I say this, if a cop said that it is against the law to chamber a round I will absolutely tell him that it is not and that I intend to chamber a round as soon as we are done talking. He will have only two options and that is to either educate himself and eat crow, or arrest me and eat some very serious crow. Either way, you are wrong. Police don't make the laws, so they can not dictate to me new laws or make-believe laws. That is why we have people we elect.... you know, at polls and stuff. What makes them special??? Are you friggin for real man? Their job is to enforce the law! I expect them to have a better understanding of it than "regular folks". For crying out loud you must live in bizarro world. I don't expect to walk into a Subway and explain to the guy behind the counter how to make a turkey club. I don't expect to explain to my doctor how to properly treat or diagnose an illness. I don't expect to have an encounter with a cop and have to explain to him what the laws are.

Whoa! $200 for a bike pump?? That's pretty steep! So how many pumps do you estimate for a full charge? Will the air chamber in the rifle hold that charge at the proper PSI over time (such as a few days to weeks)?
-
I'm ignorant on this stuff. How is the air charged in this rifle?
-
Stop Dave. You're depressing me.
-
Or how about the DA talking about getting a conviction on a plea deal that involved no jail time as if it was a victory?!? He was convicted of armed robbery for crying out loud! If more people were armed we wouldn't have to deal with crap like this because this low life would be shot dead before he had the chance to commit armed robbery or stab 10 people.

It is the liberal elite telling the ignorant masses that the solution to their problems is to criminalize gun ownership and take wealth from the "wealthy". Tennessee has a long way to go before we are controlled by liberal democarats in Mempis and Knoxville.
-
Californians allow their laws to be decided by the liberal elite in Los Angeles. Illinoians allow their laws to be decided by liberal elite in Chicago. New Yorkers allow their laws to be decided by liberal elite in NYC. At some point those red blooded Americans need to start a max exodus from those regions and enjoy freedom in the heartland... free from oppressive taxes and government intrusion. Eventually the commie states will collapse under their own weight of oppression, and I wouldn't want to be there when it happens.
-
That's why smarter states, like Florida, have county emergency management offices which tell folks they ain't coming to help in certain conditions. So when they tell you to evacuate and you don't listen, they let your stupid ass be on your own.

I thought he already mentioned that, but yes, that would be a big one too.

Comparing a maneuver element armed with M-16s to a sniper armed with an M40 SWS is like comparing apples and dildos. A sniper is not engaging an entire maneuver element in a tactical fight. He is likely taking one shot with the opposing side unaware he is being targeted. Trying to compare that to a platoon of guys in the bush (where they can't see 10 meters in front of them) armed with M-16s doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Also, hitting a 300m target with an M16A1 is much, much more difficult than hitting a 600m target using an M40.

I read his book a while back. There are a whole lotta things I disagree with in there, especially where he postulates that by joining some SOF units the person likely falls in the 2% sociopath population. Completely false, and evident of someone that hasn't bothered to do the research and is simply making theories without facts to back them up. He lost all credibility with that one. The other parts regarding societal changes and the willingness of troops to kill enemy troops (an increasing willingness over the course of the past century) is also skewed, as the data isn't scientific. I mean, remember how at one time we had columns of troops on line bayoneting each other? That is about as close as combat gets. I don't doubt that a Soldier's willingness to kill is dependent on the situation and the means used to kill. Obviously someone firing a howitzer at an enemy they never see isn't impacted like the guy who is looking at a man through the sights of a machinegun. While the cannon cocker won't hesitate to send a round, the individual looking at a human in his sights may be a different story, based on their background/personality/beliefs. Now, if that man he sees in his sights is shooting at him or fellow soldiers, the chances of hesitation are slim to nil. Same for close combat. A person's willingness to kill is going to be affected by whether or not that decision will result in living or dying. He doesn't attempt to address all that; instead, tries to make it into a black and white issue. On the issue of the military expending a bunch of rounds to the ratio of enemy casualties: you can't compare that to self defense or law enforcement shoots. Anyone who does is just ignorant. Firefights involve things such as maneuvering, which employs tactics such as suppressive fire. I've put 200 rds of .50 cal into a house, and likely didnt kill anything, but I stopped and ambush as soon as it began. That is how war works. Has nothing to do with marksmanship skills. Folks who want to compare that to either a lack of marksmanship, firing discipline or a lack of willingness to kill the enemy need to STFU.

This pisses me off the more I read about it. The officers who fired on these women belong behind bars. Unfriggin believable. -
I'll tell you the non-2A related stuff is the reason you don't see as much turnout at these things. I would take the wife and kids to a rally if I didn't think it would involve speech unrelated to the 2A. Birther crap, militias and conspiracy theories keep away the type of folks you want there. And I'm not at all against the concept of a well armed militia, but you can't show me one that isn't infested with white supremacists and anti-gov types who just want to overthrow the government. No thanks. There is no shortage of folks who strongly support the 2nd Amendment, so lets keep these rallies about just that. Any addition will just start to strip away supporters and participants. Let no one complain about lackluster turnout for these events. The reasons are clear.

Port-o-johns. Maybe a hot dog vendor and coffee stand.
