Homeland Security Creates "Constitution-Free" Zones
TMF replied to Raoul's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
With a precedent like this I don't see why not. Why 100 miles anyway? Why not 50 or 200? If we're going to have a bureaucracy arbitrarily determine where you can or can't have constitutional rights, why not just go all the way? -
Homeland Security Creates "Constitution-Free" Zones
TMF replied to Raoul's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I read about this one a few days ago. Apparently there is already a case out of New York being taken up by the ACLU to challenge this nonsense. I can understand checking things at the ports to make sure people aren't bringing in anything such as drugs, explosives and weaponry, but I fail to see how they could justify warrantless and suspicionless searches of data systems such as computers and phones under the guise of "national security". What could possibly be on those devices that couldn't have simply been sent digitally? It's not as if encryption technology isn't available to everyone... it's all open source and free to download. What terrorist would smuggle sensitive data through our ports when he can send it in an email? This is stupid and needs to stop. Good to know that some mouth breathing customs security guard has access to see my personal information, to include my finances, intimate photos of my wife, and anything else they shouldn't have access to without a judge telling them they can. -
Good to know some folks are still getting decent deals, but I wouldn't sell any of my stuff out of principle because I know it would be flipped for a profit. Good on the folks who chose not to gouge, but that is a degree of faith I would not have in folks unless I knew who I was selling to.

Notice their Pmags are back up to $100 a pop. I can't believe there are people out there paying that. Magpul needs to slap these guys around a bit.

Guess I need to take down all those "get it before they're banned" ads I have on gunbroker for my Tapco magazines I'm selling for $300 a pop. Really, there are going to be three types of people here in a few months... Those that will should be ashamed for ripping folks off; those who should be ashamed for getting ripped off; and those of us who have been sitting back watching this lunacy that had the decency not to rip anyone off and the sense not to get ripped off.

Muslims want gun shop to stop selling targets
TMF replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Okay, that's great, but the people on the targets aren't supposed to represent the good guys, it's meant to represent the bad guys. Your comparison of putting US servicemen on targets doesn't make sense. Are we the bad guys? Are we currently fighting against US troops? Yes, I would find that offensive. We aren't fighting US troops in US gear, but we have been killing a crap load of people from the Middle East over the past decade, a fact you repeatedly refuse to acknowledge. But there are plenty of targets which depict white, black and Hispanic persons and no one gets so butthurt over that.... at least most people who aren't closet racists. If one of those targets was wearing a cross on their neck would that be offensive? It is a religious symbol more than the headgear you falsely believe is an Islam mandate. The answer is "no" I would not get offended, because there are plenty of folks who wear crosses who are bad guys, and I have enough sense to differentiate between the wearing of the cross and the man who wears it. You don't seem to be able to do that. -
I rented a pontoon boat when I was last there and spent the day in the intercoastal nailing channel cat all day and catching a tan. Very relaxing and hardly any boat traffic since I was away from the tourism area.

Ha, no the actual "Machinegun Preacher" is a lot less cool than it sounds. Basically a criminal turned war tourist who started his own church for the benefit of his ego. He touts himself as a man who works tirelessly on the plight of orphaned children in S. Sudan, donating time and and all his earthly assets to the cause..... ya know, while he rides around on a chopper that costs more than my house, making cool guy videos of himself for the interwebz and writing books of exploits that either didn't happen, or are embelished beyond what could be considered "poetic license". -
The Secret Service establishes those SOPs. They don't take stuff for granted. A lot of people want to kill the President, no matter who the President is. Being in the military does not invite any complacency in the policies of the Secret Service; to them, everyone and everything is a potential threat. If I had their job, I would feel the same way.

Shoot until the threat ceases to be a threat!
TMF replied to Peace's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Either way, I'm worrying about civil/criminal penalties after I'm sure that I'm no longer in danger. If I'm more concerned before the shooting with what will happen to me criminally/civilly after the shooting, then clearly I'm not in fear for my life. If I was in fear for my life the only thing I would care about is terminating the threat. -

Shia Islam is far more structured than Sunni Islam, but there are still different schools of thought within Sunni Islam, which represent the legal interpretations of the Quran and the hadiths, as well as how Muhammed lived his life and how that should impact the behavior of modern day Muslims. A quick parallel could be Catholics and Protestants. Shias have a hierarchy similiar to Catholicism, and there are similarities in how their relationship with God is conducted. Sunnis have a direct relationship with God, and their Imams are only there to lead them in prayer and provide some degree of spiritual guidance, as they are the religious scholars. I'm not sure how the schools of thought in Sunni Islam dictate whether or not Muslims are free to interpret scripture, but I would have to assume so. In Shia Islam that is a no-go. Kinda like back in the day when the Catholic Church didn't want everyone trying to read and interpret the Bible without their guidance. It was the clergy's responsibility to interpret the word of God. The term "Mullah" is somewhat ambiguous, as it means different things in different corners of Islam. At any rate, they don't hold any significant position in mainstream Islam. Sometimes a Mullah can be nothing more than the only person literate enough in a village to read the Quran, and sometimes Mullah is just an honorary title that someone gets because they've either been formally educated in an Islamic institution, or they are just Quran thumpers that have independently obsessed themselves with being able to recite the entire Quran and memorize every significant hadith that applies to most common life situations. I would compare a Mullah to the modern day bible thumper who becomes obsessed to the point of starting his own church because all the other churches are screwing it up, or the self appointed preacher has an ego that needs feeding... sorta like the "Machinegun Preacher" guy. -
When there is a vote the Dems will still win even though the Reps will smack it down. When their gun control laws get smacked down then they can use that against the Reps ("the blood of the innocent is on their hands!" or "We tried to save little Johnny with our inneffective and unconstitutional laws, and now Johnny is dead because of the evil, white, gun-toting, bible-thumping Republicans!").

Hating a group of people for things that occurred long before any of us were born is stupid. That goes both ways. If Muslims are still butthurt over the Crusades then they can f*** themselves. I'm sure modern day Muslims have their legitimate modern day reasons for hating the West, such as the establishment of a Jewish state by the Western powers, then the backing of said state. Then there is the way we are destroying their Muslim culture by exporting ours. Then there is the policy of interfering in mid-East politics for the sake of keeping the oil lines open. All valid concerns of conservative Muslims in the Islamic world. Of course, I give two craps about that. I don't care that it pisses them off; we have certain national interests. I think we need our partnership with Israel more than they need us. I think we absolutely need to interfere with mid-East politics until such time our economy doesn't depend on oil. And as far as culture, hell its their youth destroying it, not our exporting of sex and commercialism. Kinda like how rock and roll "ruined" the youth of the '50s and '60s. Rock and roll had nothing to do with it, the acceptance by the younger generation did. Kinda like how silly it is of me to get mad at Justin Beiber for making a generation of pussies... it's not his fault, it's the boys who try to emulate him. What is important is that we recognize who the folks are that hate us and want to work towards our destruction. September 11th answers that question. UBL struck a blow for the rest of the Muslim world, even if they didn't know it was coming. Remember all the video of Muslims cheering in the streets of their dirt poor pissholes on 9/11? That should tell you something. They hate us, and they will continue to hate us until our policies change, which they won't due to our strategic interests. If you don't agree to those strategic interests than you can be the first one to give up everything you own that runs on power and gas/diesel, then move to the woods and live off the grid. If you expect 350 million Americans to be able to do the same, you're being disingenuous. Their hatred of us is what spawns the fighting youth that is working tirelessly to come up with new and exciting ways to attack our country so that they may spread fear and further cause us to restrict our freedoms and change our way of life. These people who seek to attack us all are Muslims, and most of them Arab. When that dynamic changes then you won't see Muslim/Arab targets being sold in gun stores any more. Until then, pass me some good 'ol Hadji-flage laden targets 'cause I'm going to fill 'em full of holes.... once ammo is affordable again. -

So? -
Just wait. The prices will come down. Manufacturers haven't raised their prices which means the prices right now are artificial due to demand. At some point the prices will have to come down once demand is being met a little more and ARs are available at the big retailers for normal price..... And they don't go out of stock in minutes.

Sport, but not for the price they are now.

I grew up in a Baptist church. Other than getting my azz beat by mean old ladies throughout my formative years it wasn't that bad. Then we moved out into the forest and I went to one there. I don't even know how to describe it, but when I watch scary exorcism movies I get flashbacks to my days at that church. -
