Didn't know that. I'd think getting over 1100 degrees would surely discolor the barrel and flash suppressor, wouldn't it?

So Michele O presented the Oscar for best Picture?
TMF replied to Raoul's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Eh, Jackie Kennedy was the queen of FL media whoring, and I would have no problem with her bobbed cut hotness prancing across the TV every evening. I wish we had Jackie as FL right now.... she was so hot with those legs.... mmmm. No wonder America is obsessed with Kate Middleton. Nobody is jamming up Internet traffic looking for nipple slips of Michelle Obama.... but Kate... oh yes Kate... -
How the hell did they justify that one?
-
Ha, wouldn't it work if you applied the solder then sent 100 rds down the barrel in quick succession?

I'm sure you could ask for a supervisor no matter the situation, but TN law is different than OR law, and in TN the officer would have PC if he saw a weapon and this guy was OCing. You have to show a permit if you're seen carrying a firearm or you will get cuffed and stuffed.

Louis Farrakhan: Gang Members Can Serve As Protectors

When's the spaceship coming for him anyway? -
Move to Tennessee please.... and open an outlet store while you're here.

http://www.timesofisrael.com/top-iranian-general-said-target-of-israeli-strike-in-syria/ I guess that recent air strike deep into Syria was done just to kill this guy. I wish our leaders had the balls to speak the way the Israelis do, rather than talk in circles and saying a bunch of words that mean nothing. Best part of this article was the quote: "... Defense Minister Ehud Barak alluded to Israeli involvement, saying, “What happened in Syria… that’s proof that when we say something we mean it.â€

There's a lot of black and white in that article that doesn't account for a lot of grey. I mean there's stuff that I agree with, but comparing conscription with private ownership of another human being is very different. There are plenty of things to beat up Lincoln about, but the draft isn't one of them considering it's been done many times over. Being drafted into service for crisis or national security is an important part of being an American and maintaining our way of life. Every time there is a natural disaster and I see a stadium full of refugees sitting on their ass, while you have volunteers driving from several states away to help with relief efforts I wonder why every able bodied adult that is not caring for a child is not drafted into some kind of disaster relief role. Being drafted into service is a price an American pays for being an American, just like taxes. I don't believe this should be abused, such as it was during the Vietnam War, but it certainly has a necessity. That is different than me going down to market and buying a human (who is born with rights given to him by God) and having that human serve me against his will for my own profit. I think that Lincoln was a symptom of a larger problem taking place in our country in the decades leading up to the Civil War, and that was one group imposing it's will on another. The war could have been easily avoided if cooler heads would have prevailed, but once the Confederate States seceeded all bets were off. I think the North forced their hand and the South acted out of desperation. I think a valuable lesson should have been learned from that experience as we are on a similar path right now. We have a very large group of Americans that are essentially ignored by those who run our government, and the arrogance of them being such that we aren't only ignored, we are marginalized as fruitcakes and nutjobs. Well, if this goes on for the foreseeable future it may well be a self fufilling prophecy. Oh, and I don't see why this movie was hailed as being so great. It really wasn't. It was like watching one of those thrown together History Channel specials that are heavy on dramatizations. I mean, it wasn't sooo terrible that if I watched it on the History Channel I would say that it sucked, but for all the hype that it garnered I was not impressed with any of it. But I guess it has Lincoln + Slavery + Southerners depicted as pure evil + Sally Field + Steven Spielberg you have to say it's awesome or the left wing Hollywood crowd will disown you.

Land Between the Lakes (LBL) has a WHOLE bunch of places that meet that description. Open fires are dependent on weather conditions, of course. I've been back country camping out there at least a dozen times. PM me if you plan on going in that area. I have lat/long coordinates for some of my campsites. A couple of them are well off the beaten path, yet still accessible by vehicle.

Private Sales May Be Next 2A Infringement
TMF replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Considering how many tens of millions of vehicles are registered with state governments and the hundreds of million of radio devices registered with the FCC, yeah, I think the gov can do it. Criminals won't comply, so it will to mitigate crime one bit, nor will it stop firearms from changing hands. The civil disobedient crowd who will choose not to comply aren't likely to transfer those weapons they don't register. So once again, we're back to the criminals being the only ones who won't be affected, just like they aren't now by all the ineffective gun laws which only limit the rights of the law abiding folks. -
Carry more than 1 pistol within the Law with HCP?
TMF replied to RED333's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You can't be convicted of breaking a law that doesn't exist. There is nothing I saw in the TCA regarding carrying more than one. I always have two in my vehicle when I'm driving. -
Private Sales May Be Next 2A Infringement
TMF replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of all this... "Oh, this isn't working, so we need to make a database of all firearms in the US." Which, of course, that won't work either because the prerequisite to being a criminal is breaking the law. -
I understand the premise there, but in this case the officer gave away personal information to a third party. I would think there is some kind of procedure rather than just running the information and giving it away. Perhaps the officer thought it was a theft of service crime, but still, that should require some sort of paperwork. From the outside looking in it appears as if this was nothing more than a favor done to the business owner by the LEO, since there is zero paperwork to back up any of the story. For example, if I am cut off in traffic and it causes me to spill my coffee, thus burning myself and giving me grounds for a civil suit there would be some kind of process other than me simply calling up my LEO buddy and saying, "hey, I got this plate and need the name and home address of this individual so I can sue them." Do you think that there are any departments out there who would just hand that information over? Is there not some sort of protection under the law regarding that? I realize that you're looking at this from a criminal aspect, as in your reply you posit that the officer believed a crime has taken place, but if that is so why is there no paperwork to support it? I'd at least give him the benefit of the doubt if the guy wrote a report and classified it as theft of service. But no report, just personal information handed over like its nothing. Well, then I believe the victims here should be able to post this officer's home address for anyone... you think he'd be so understanding if they did that?
-
I would seek some kind of civil case against the cop. It sounds like me like he is misusing his position to gather information for the benefit of a business, such as the cop is in cahoots with the business owner. Sounds to me like this is no different than a cop running someone's information to give to a third party "buddy", which I'm pretty sure is illegal. The facts of the case are the officer ran the person's information who had not committed a crime, then turned said info over to a third party. No way that is legal.
-
Yeah, I thought that was all understood. The issue I had was the officer citing a law that doesn't exist, then a member getting his panties in a wad about whether or not a cop can dictate to non-existent laws, which you can't be charged with breaking laws that don't exist. That is amateur hour stuff, and the cop needs to be called on it. As for the rest, all legal though I believe the law should be changed.

Which goes back to my statement about people flagging posts just for kicks and why there needs to be an Internet punch face button.

Ha, yeah but I've never seen a non-metal door in Astan that couldn't be breached using something less.... dramatic. Just seems like a lot extra to carry for little return, but then again I'm a minimalist when it comes to a loadout.
-
No they aren't. It's under lost and found. I'm not the kind of dick that would make people pay for a stray dog.
-
I've kicked a lot of doors and rarely ever needed the help of a shotgun, mainly because nearly all doors in Iraq are made of metal, with metals frames anchored to concrete. It is not preferred to do a shotgun breach on metal doors like that since breaching rounds aren't going to work, and I'm not hitting metal and concrete with buckshot from a distance of 1 inch. Also, never ever seen an assaulter with any reputable organization use a shotgun as a primary assault weapon. I just kept a shorty slung in a shotgun keeper, and could whip it around to use it for breaching if need be.... which was hardly never. Certainly not enough to necessitate a heavy, lumbering weight on the front of my gun. Besides, we had less than lethal rounds for the 203/79 for crowd dispersment and those worked just great.

I do think this is a good sign in regard to demand. Right now the problem is supply, but a contributing factor in that was the folks who were buying stores out of ARs so they could turn around and sell them for jacked up prices; unless there is another reason for the sudden spike in NIB AR rifles immediately following the panic, along with stories of guys buying 5 or 6 ARs at a time. Well, I don't think there are those type of people buying any more because they won't profit from their douchebaggery, so all that's left are folks who realized this panic happened and they hadn't bought an AR yet. I think we'll see supplies return to normal now that demand is down somewhat. Ammo is another thing; I think we're all screwed on that one.
-
If you're in the market I'd just get on a wait list at the LGS or keep checking in at Walmart. You'll get a good deal either way without paying panic prices.
-
Yeah, as predicted several weeks ago when the first $2,000 Bushmaster went on sale. I get a tickle going on Armslist and see ads which pretty much berate the prospective buyers for why the rifle is still available. My guess is everyone that was so ill informed as to pay those prices has already bought one and the rest of us are sitting around waiting for supply to catch up.
