I've fired somewhere around 1/2 a million rounds out of AR/M16 series rifles and have never, ever had a malfunction which wasn't due to magazine issues or the bolt breaking. It requires maintenance more than other rifles in its class, but with the proper maintenance it will not fail.

I got all my FA .22s in very low cost deals from their original owners.

Do you work for the DOS? Are you privy to some kind of information that the rest of us aren't? Shall I turn in my HCP now since I didn't use VMETs to acquire it?

Yeah, I'm not sweating anything, I just like to be informed so that I can make plans. I was looking to do a range trip the first weekend of April and would like to have my upper built so I can test fire it. Some of us have to plan even simple range trips weeks in advance and it sucks not being able to do so due to poor information flow.

Yes, but when a site says "in stock" I assume that to mean the items are actually in stock and can be shipped in a timely manner. The shortage on parts right now is unprecedented, but that doesn't mean simple customer service steps can't be taken. I wouldn't mind if it takes a while to ship, but I would appreciate a disclaimer before purchase which states an approximate time line, especially when their home page specifically mentions certain items that will take 2 months. That would lead me to believe that items NOT listed are not subject to the same length of wait time. We'll see. It's been a week since I ordered and have only got a confirmation email.

Eh, sometimes I carry a .380 that only holds 7 rounds. Not as good as the 9 rounds I normally carry in my .45, but better than nothing.

If you don't already have a qual scorecard in your possession get one before you rotate back. Once you're back in the rear you know as well as I do that you won't hold the keys to getting to the range and qualifying. If you aren't currently issued a sidearm there is no shortage of folks who are that can lend you theirs. Go out and put some holes in paper and fill out the alt-pistol qual form and have it signed. The day you step off the freedom bird you can go right down to the DMV and make it happen. If you don't have a TN DL bring your orders.

Lets think critically on this for a second folks. We know that there are tens of millions of folks with firearms who never go on shootings sprees or have any inclination towards murder. At the same time there are tens of millions of people who play shooting video games who don't go on violent shooting sprees. Anyone ever think for a moment that it isn't the gun or the video game that magically transforms a person into a mass murderer? Perhaps a person who fantasizes about mass murder acquires that weapon for the purpose of murder and plays the violent video game to feed their obsession with murder. Just a thought. Blaming video games for violence is like blaming guns. It is an incredibly stupid argument.

Personal monetary interests of folks who would see their NFA items decrease in value at the repeal of an unjust law are secondary to my right to purchase those items without a prohibitive tax. Wait, it isn't just secondary or tertiary, it shouldn't even be a consideration when we discuss this.

If you are downrange you can do the alternate pistol qualification scorecard, have it signed by you commander and submit that in lieu of the certificate from the HCP class. It is really that simple. Follow that link, print out a 5704R, go put holes in paper. The qualification is good for 5 years from the date you qualify. If you already qualified before you went downrange and you still have a copy of your scorecard, just submit that when you get back. It is really too easy.

I consider the money I have in my savings and retirement account to be sacred. It was taxed before I put it in there and is not going to be taxed again simply because the gov spends money like a drunken sailor in a whore house. Them coming after that money negates any efforts on my part to save and get ahead by my own doing. It completely removes my control over my destiny and would set a precedent that can't be undone. If they ever do what is about to be done in Cyprus I will absolutely cease to be a law abiding citizen; no doubt in my mind about that.
