1. I'm reminded of the final instructions Little Bill gave English Bob when he booted him from Big Whiskey.
2. When he came back for the gun he should have been shot. Doesn't matter he may not have been armed... it should have been a safe assumption he was.
3. Because what if the story is all BS? I realize there are witnesses and whatnot, but setting a precedent where a person is punished before there is a chance to investigate is not the answer. Not so much for the sake of this guy, but for all who follow. I don't doubt this guy did this based on the story, but there should be an investigation before punitive action. I would expect that from any employer. Edit: but when the investigation is complete and he is found to have acted as stated in the article he should be fired and thrown in jail. However, in my parts someone generally doesn't see jail time when the pull a gun on someone due to plea deals and such. Heck, drunk drivers in my county kill people all the time and barely get a slap on the wrist. This seems to be the norm now.
4. I bet you wouldn't say it to this man's face nor any other victim of violent crime who fought back and happen to hit their assailant in the back. You are the only coward in this scenario.
5. More candy at Halloween. Last year half the neighborhood wasn't participating. Gotta find that silver lining.
6. So an innocent who is threatened with a deadly weapon and subsequently shot at by an armed robber is a coward because the orientation of the criminal when he shot back??? God forbid you ever find yourself in any similar situation, but hey, easy for you to make such distinctions from your armchair. You should be ashamed for your comments. Typical elitist attitude of you to have, Robert.
7.
this sheds some light, seems the manager returned fire of the guy fleeing. “I saw the gun,” Smith said. “I heard the shot. I didn’t hit the ground. I fired.” The gunman missed, but Smith hit his mark. Knoxville Police Department officers found the body of Justin Pierre Jackson, 30, in a nearby alley less than half an hour later. Police also found Jackson’s gun, a .38-caliber revolver, along with around $600 in cash and a bullet hole in the shed behind the Dollar General, 4112 Asheville Highway, where Smith, a former soldier and Gulf War veteran, worked as manager the night of Feb. 27 when Jackson picked the store to rob. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/may/03/ex-dollar-general-store-manager-recalls-gunfight/

So people can shoot at you when their back is turned? I'll be damned. Just a few posts up someone said that anyone who shoots someone in the back is a coward and a murderer.
8. Not really much I can do. Back in the day I would have got around him first chance after a stunt like that, cut him off and locked up my brakes. I'm an adult now so I don't get road ragey, not to mention I had my son in the truck at the time. Instead I just have my fantasy of what I would like to do to this guy if he weren't in the protection of his truck. I simply don't understand why people do this stuff. Imagine you are walking down the sidewalk and some person is just poking along so you go to walk around them. They respond by speeding up their walk and blocking you, then slowing back down again and not allowing you to pass. They would get their ass beat daily. If people wouldn't do this when in choking distance why would they do it in their cars? I know the answer, it just really pisses me off. People like this need to be kicked off the planet.
9. Wish I could do this. Being a grown up sucks sometimes.
10. I don't tailgate. If you read the post you'll notice that this moron specifically targeted me because he is just a flaming douchebag with an inferiority complex so bad that he can't handle someone passing him. I hope he and people like him get a combination of eye herpes and super-AIDS.
11. Ha, I had a good one in Kentucky the other day. Dude is traveling in the left lane at a couple miles below the speed limit, and I'm traveling in the right lane about 10 mph faster than him; there is no one on the highway at the time. Since he doesn't believe in traveling in the right lane I'm forced to pass on the right. When I get about 50 yards from him he speeds up, making this whole process take longer. As I get next to him he matches my speed. There is a semi I'm coming up on and am forced to slow down and get behind this moron to get around the semi in the right lane. As soon as I get over this guy drops his speed 10 miles an hour and now I'm stuck behind him. I would really like to know what goes through these people's minds when they do this.
12. Maybe to an ahole DA, but not to a jury. A jury still would have to find the kid guilty. Kinda hard to do that when a guy jumps out of his car and points a gun at someone just sitting in his own car.
13. I can answer that. TSA employees are recruited for their low IQ. Makes total sense any issues folks have with them.
14. Robert, why is the onus on anyone here to provide you with evidence that this guy was justified in this shooting? You are the one saying that he isn't. I'm merely saying you don't have all the facts to support that this guy is a "murderer" (your words). All we know is the manager killed the guy and he isn't being charged. Why you are so steadfast that there is more to the story suggests you know more about it. Could you point us to the source that clearly lays out all the facts to support your theory that this guy is a murderer and the DA is wrong for not charging him please? Otherwise you are talking out your ass again and arguing just to argue.
15. I was quoting you, not them. And once again, you're making assumptions in a bubble. You don't know the circumstances that existed with the exception of what was in a left leaning story. For all you know he was trying to get a better description, or see which way the guy ran so he could provide more info for police when he saw the deceased present the weapon. You just don't know, so I don't see why you're convinced this guy should be charged when the investigating officers and DA seem to disagree. So either you know more than those folks do or you're just talking out your ass. I maintain that anyone who has just threatened my life with a deadly weapon is a viable threat no matter which way he is facing so long as he still has that weapon. That includes if he is running away.
16. I also remember my first Sunday in Basic Training, where church was mandatory the first week. That meant everybody regardless of faith had to sit through services. The following week the Drill Sergeant on duty that day told us that folks only had to go to church if they wanted, and those folks that didn't go would be taken to the pool. It was Ft. Benning, GA in June, so I opted for pool. After the formation of devout churchgoers were marched to the chapel the remaining DS had us form up in the grass and lay down on our stomachs. He then proceeded to hose us down while we were made to mock swim in the grass, in cadence. This went on for 15 minutes or so before we moved to the sand pit to be made into sugar cookies, then subsequently smoked for another half hour. Good times. I never missed a day of church for the rest of the time I was there. Looking back I remember that story with amusement. The Drills musta got a kick outa that one. However, I think about how I would have felt if I was a devout Muslim, Hindu, Morman.... probably would reflect on it much differently.
17. I bought my first pistol in a private sale when I was 18. Of course, I would not feel comfortable selling a pistol to someone so young unless they were vetted. Then again, I kinda feel the same about selling to anyone.
18. Who is saying he used deadly force to "subdue" him? The term "subdue" suggests he used deadly force in order to apprehend the deceased. If the deceased was still armed he was still a threat, regardless which direction he is faced. I've at least had the experience of being in several gun fights, and promise you that an armed individual is a threat no matter which way he is facing. You can disagree with me, but you would be dead wrong.
19. Sure I can. So can you apparently. You assume this man did something to break the law, yet you admit we don't have all the facts. One fact that is not in dispute is that he isn't being charged, so regardless of what you "think" happened, this man will not be prosecuted. Somehow the rest of us will sleep okay with that.
20. Did he threaten the manager or patrons with a firearm? Did he still possess the firearm when shot? The third question would be whether or not the deceased was in such a position as to still be a threat, and the answer would be yes as the manager was able to hit him, which means the deceased would have been able to hit the manager. If the answers to the first two are also yes, and I'm sitting on the jury, then this guy is going to walk. The DA seems to think the same thing.
21. But if you have other valid forms of ID, ones that are specifically listed by the TSA as valid, why care that they don't accept a form of ID that isn't listed as valid and is subject to interpretation by a brain dead TSA employee? That's like getting mad at them for not knowing whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable... or mineral. Try to manage your expectations when dealing with those folks. They aren't known for their above average intelligence ya know.
22. So is it just as ridiculous to add stuff to the story as it is to say that the person was no longer a threat just because his back was turned?
23. I guess you have never seen a robbery where the thug shot over his shoulder while running away. I've seen at least a dozen floating around YouTube. One in particular was three thugs robbing a gunshop. One of two clerks pulled his weapon; all three fled and one fired wildly as he ran (with his back turned), hitting one of the clerks in the neck. If someone pulls a gun on you, then tries to flee, yet still has the gun, he is still a very real threat until such time there is some form of cover separating the two of you. You don't have to believe me, but I suggest you poke around on YouTube for an hour and see some of those videos. You'll notice that the aggressors are presenting and firing over their shoulders in less than a second. If you have a reaction time faster than that then we need look no further for the world's next Chuck Norris.
24. I have an IO that I recently purchased. There's a lot of bad stuff online regarding them. Mine functions fine with all the crap ammo brands and mags, plus looks pretty good. I may have gotten lucky. From what I've read about them they are a pain to deal with if you get a lemon. I figured worse case when I bought mine would be waiting a couple of months for a refund. I've seen posts about them dragging their feet, but I haven't seen anything saying they refused a refund.
25. Other than principle, why does it matter? Is there anyone who flies that only has a HCP and not a DL? Unless you're DL is broken I don't see the big deal. I also use my passport when flying, even if it's not int'l. I put my wallet, along with phone, keys and pocket litter into my carry on so that my pockets are empty with the exception of my passport when I go through security. It makes everything much easier to not be emptying your pockets as you get up to the scanner.
