  1. In order to have civil disobedience laws must be broken. It's one of the best ways to show the gov that they are not the ones in control. Of course, going locked and cocked isn't going to get that message across. We'll only look like lunatics and fruitcakes, and it opens the possibility for NDs or one crazy who decides to attend the event so he can "start the war" by firing at law enforcement from amongst the armed demonstrators. Don't think that could happen? Think of the type of person who will show up to this thing. Oh yes it could happen and it would be the biggest disaster for gun rights. Like I said, if they want to make a point they could just show up (unarmed) carrying a 30 rd magazine, which is illegal in DC. It would send the message without making both sides trigger happy.
  2. Having any relationship with Israel keeps us deep in Middle East politics regardless if we have 100,000 troops or 100 troops in the region. Our relationship with Israel is a huge motivating factor for terrorist groups who wish to target us. Not that I have a problem with that, just wanted to point that out.
  3. I thought the report of the rebels using a chlorine bomb was suspected by the UN. Wouldn't be abnormal at all. It happened quite a few times in Iraq at the hands of Sunni insurgents. Those same al Qaeda affiliated Sunnis are now fighting against Assad in Syria. There are no winners here that will be favorable to our interests. The longer they stay destabilized the better, since they will remain weak and unable to respond to Israeli strikes on Iranian assets and Iranian affiliated terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
  4. Yep, which is why I hate the argument that the 2A does not provide us the ability to effectively fight our government. I don't feel it will come to that unless a series of very drastic events occurs, but that isn't the point. It keeps the gov from ever going over the line. An insurgency of less than 100,000 folks would bring this country to its knees regardless of martial law, fast movers, attack helicopters, tanks and so on.
  5. I'm still curious how they are claiming this isn't politically motivated if they are admitting that these organizations were specifically targeted. What a crock.
  6. I may have to make that happen this Monday. My ARs multiplied somehow so I need to do a test fire and zero.
  7. Unless you are Martin Riggs... he has used pools to kill people.
  8. And Obama authorizes or directs small potato contracts like the one Remington got? Do you have any idea how many folks in that community would be tripping over themselves to blow the whistle on that?
  9. Umm, the contract was with SOCOM. The folks of that community overwhelmingly support private gun ownership of military style weaponry. You might find some that aren't, but we call those folks outcasts.
  10. People don't NEED private pools.
  11. Most people would be wrong then. That isn't how contracts work. It takes a lot of time. I don't see how that would be a "pay off" any how. For what? What favorable action did Remington take towards a State government other than not moving? The contract wasn't even with the STATE government, it was with SOCOM. You think there are many people there that are sympathetic to NY and their oppressive gun laws? The correct answer is no, by the way.
  12. Terrorist! Expect a knock....
  13. I'm pretty sure if my wife ever found a black widow in the home she'd burn the whole place down for good measure.
  14. There were also several Afghan SOF and at least one Afghan interpreter killed in the crash. The ceremony was a joint ceremony which included our Afghan partners. There is a picture of an Afghan LTC speaking at the ceremony. The fact that there was an Imam there should be expected, just as we had Chaplains from our service there. If the Imam had said anything intentionally disgraceful it would have been noticed by one of the many Afghans in attendance. The only thing I hear is Quranic verse being sung, which is in Arabic, so perhaps no one there would understand it because they speak either Dari or Pashtu, but they would still likely know the intent of the verse and would have nipped that in the bud. One or more of the Afghan SOF guys would have kicked his ass. I don't think there is a story here, I think it is people getting worked up over nothing based on misleading and unreliable information.
  15. While I feel for the families of the fallen, the stuff in there about the airframe used being gross negligence is absolutely absurd. Everyone uses CH47s, even super cool tier one units. They fit a whole lotta people and it is easier to take a couple of Chinooks than half a dozen Blackhawks. They act like they were sent into combat in a clunking paper weight. This makes them lose all credibility with me. You go to war with what you got. If we sat here and analyzed every mission ever where a Servicemember was killed and blamed it on not using the absolute best equipment out there we would be here for years. These families need to STFU regarding that. As for the Imam, I want a recording or transcripts to verify. I'm not getting spun up about something from an unreliable source. These families are an unreliable source based on their overreaction to the mission conducted and the tools used to conduct it.
  16. The last time I saw someone OCing I was looking pretty hard at his 1911 out of curiosity of who made it. For all I know he interpreted that as a bedwetter freaking out over a gun being displayed, especially since I had my kids with me. Good or bad, OCing will draw attention when noticed.
  17. Why does the government care? This is the biggest non-issue in the realm of firearms use in crime.
  18. This dude probably spent too long in the chow halls of Iraq seeing the damage ice cream does to his waistline.
  19. Looking for her 15 minutes of fame. What a piece of garbage. She needs to worry more about her 45 cats and less about world matters.
  20. 1856 stamped Enfield pistol made specifically for the Ottomans for their role in the Crimean War. Apparently this is something rare and supposedly worthless due to it being a hodgepodge frankenpistol. I thought it was pretty cool 'cause folks don't have them.
  21. For a moment consider the source of this man's funding back when he was an anti-war protester running around with leftist organizations with far leftist benefactors. Now consider that a major source of revenue for his "show" was from a non-profit that is funded by the Russian government. Getting arrested for BS stunts occasionally isn't so bad so long as the paychecks keep coming.
  22. Folks who put celebrities on such a pedestal are stupid. Perhaps the reason this list is so ridiculous is because people like me would not participate in it.
  23. Eh, many folks park cars in their driveway that cost more than my house. How is that any different than folks knowing you have an expensive collection of anything else?
  24. European or African swallow?
  25. Don't forget Timothy McVeigh. Not a Marine, but a veteran.
