Jesus this isn't even the same ballpark. We're not talking about a business, we're talking about people making a (illegal) business out of cleaning the retailer out of a product in order to create an artificial shortage and drive up the cost for people too stupid to wait and keeping folks like me from getting the product from the distributor.

Could there be concern about parts kits being restricted from import in the future via EO?

Thing is, I have enough cash to clean every Walmart and gunshop in my county of their ammo stock. If I was so dedicated it'd be interesting to buy it all up and only sell to folks who weren't douchebags (up to me to make that determination, of course). I wonder how many "free market" folks would believe such a market was actually free if I held all the ammo in their area. What folks fail to realize is that the panic created the demand, which could be easily met by retailers, but opportunists are buying up stock from the retailers in order to profit from the demand. That creates the artificial cost of ammo. .22lr doesn't cost 50 bucks a brick. Folks can still buy it for a normal price if they have the ability to stand in line at Walmart at 7am each morning. Most folks can't do that, so they are at the mercy of a handful of douchebags who would do well to suck-start their carry piece.

Troubling news for the Trayvon Martin camp
TMF replied to DaveS's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In high school there were probably many compromising photos taken from me. Kids smoke pot and drink. It doesn't prove anything in regard to what happened; it's just an attempt at character assassination. If they bring that into court they need to bring Zimmerman's previous run-ins with the law as well. It baffles me that folks will scream about how Z was never convicted of assaulting a police officer although he was charged, yet are all about focusing on Martin's behavior for which HE never charged. How does that make sense? -

If I started the fight then no. -
BSoA changed their policy. No one forced them. I fully support their right to exclude gays from their organization, just like I support the right of former benefactors not to contribute funding any longer. If BSoA changes their policy back I'm on board 100%. Their organization, their rules.

Too bad. He deserved to be raped to death with a pineapple.

Not being sarcastic, I genuinely would like someone to tell me how this would change anything in terms of the kids. Since it's safe to assume there have always been gay boys in scouts there will always continue to be gay boys no matter their policy. Considering that sexual orientation isn't a topic discussed or relevant at scouting events, what would change? Do they talk about the awesomeness of banging chicks at their jamborees or how great it is to have meaningful hetero-style sex? If not I don't see why gay sex would be a topic for discussion or celebration either. For those of you who were in scouts you should be aware that based on law of averages there were many gay boys you've interacted with in your den/pack. What would change if they had embraced their gayness in their personal lives versus not admitting it? Your comfort level?

Gay, straight... I don't see how sexual orientation one way or the other should be a topic of discussion during scouting activities. It's inappropriate. I was a scout until I was 10 or 11. We knew who the queer kids were, just like in school. I don't see how it affected anything other than them being made fun of for being girly. Maybe that will change. Other than that, anyone bringing up sexual orientations (hetero or otherwise) should not be doing so during scouting activities, so what's the problem?

Eh, I love my Ram and bought it new for nearly 2/3 the sticker price and ruined the salesman's inflated haggling ego. Besides leaking power steering fluid everywhere, it has been a champ.

We used hose clamps in the Army before all the whiz bang stuff was common place.

Must a person take a butt whoopin before you pull a firearm?
TMF replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep, I just misunderstood you. I took it to mean trash talking then pulling a gun in defense was an okay practice. I see what you're saying now. -
Getcha a couple wires and some shrink tube and you can make your own. Seems like a lot of work though if you aren't using it often versus just turning the knob on it. Now that I think about it you should be able to find those military style pressure switches cheap online or at a gun show, then run it to the back of your cheapo flashlight, solder some wire to the contact points on the switch and battery compartment and insulate with shrink tube and hot glue. Might have to drill a hole in the back of the rear cap on the flashlight to accommodate the contacts from the switch. If you can't find any cheap I'm sure I have one or two in my garage I can send you for free.

TMF replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well I disagree here. Sure, name calling ain't assault, but if done with the intent to elicit a violent response knowing you will use deadly force it is premeditated murder. No, it does not excuse the actions of the assaulter, but it doesn't exonerate the shooter as justified. If it did folks could just go around picking fights and then shoot a person when they threw the first punch. That isn't self defense. For example, Mike Tyson could easily kill me with one punch. If I was attacked by him or someone his size I would use deadly force to defend myself. However, if I call Mike Tyson a n***er knowing he will likely swing at me in response and l use deadly force to stop the fight I should go to jail for murder. No doubt I would in fear for my life, but that alone will not keep you out of a jail cell if you decided to initiate the confrontation. There are PLENTY of folks behind bars right now who tried this very thing, and they deserve to be there. -
Plus it comes in a neat Kimber tin.

Yep. I forgot I got the 2 as well. My Grandmother is in her 80s and just picked one up after seeing ours last year.

Check out the Kimber Pepper Blaster. Bought it for the wife. It conceals quite well in a pocket and has a good effective range and limited blowback (it's a gel).

I love me some GB 1. It is THE movie of my childhood.

If you elicited the confrontation or escalated it you will likely be prosecuted and certainly deserve to go to jail. You don't start an altercation knowing you'll likely end it with deadly force. If you start a fight you'd better be prepared for an ass beating. On the other hand, if someone aggresses you in an unprovoked attack and you are in true fear for your life I wouldn't hesitate to draw to deter and fire if they continue their advance. One punch can deliver death or other great bodily harm. If someone initiates an unprovoked attack on me I am going to assume their intent is to kill me. If someone attacks me because I called them an ahole I'll assume their intent is to simply challenge my assessment. Ive seen posts in the past which indicate some folks seem to think they can start a fight with someone then end it with deadly force if they're getting their butt handed to them. At that point you may certainly be in fear for your life, but you will spend time in jail when you use deadly force, and should. -
Surely it is a typo.

Homeowner slays armed invader with sword
TMF replied to walton6467's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Swords only become cool after you kill someone with it. Until then it is just a piece of eBay junk you picked up after watching Kill Bill. -
For my wife's SUV the manufacturer suggests changing every 30K. If it wasn't for the warranty I'd probably do it every 50K, but I'd hate to have a tranny issue and void the warranty due to lack of maintenance.
