Is there a Constitutional right for the government to have an opinion on your marriage? Sounds to me like this is a good argument for the government to get out of the marriage business altogether.

Well in that case the fact that I can't grow alfalfa grass to length in my front yard due to city zoning regs I am having my right to happiness infringed upon. Can I get a movement with my own flag now? Honestly, I care less no matter which way this argument goes. I see silliness on both sides and I don't care enough to have an opinion, but the argument that this denies the "pursuit of happiness" is so incredibly subjective and opens the doors to 99.9% of the laws our gov has on the books.

I could but that might hurt some folks' feelings. There is a big difference between someone who says "if X happens I will do Y" and someone who says "I hope that X happens so I can do Y." There are some smart folks here that can see the difference between the two and have seen the latter posted quite regularly.

Sounds like a bunch of twelve year olds making threats about stuff they don't have the means to follow through on, otherwise known as Internet business as usual. If Zman gets acquitted I doubt there will be anything more significant than a few kooks parading across the liberal media to tell us how racist America is to let Zman go free. I mean, JJ and Sharpton haven't even shown up yet. Looks to me they might even sit this out. I realize that is very disappointing to some folks, but perhaps we should acknowledge that there are people in the gun owning community itching for an excuse to shoot folks just like there are thugs within the black community looking for an excuse to loot and riot. Which do we classify as worse?

They got off lucky. If it was my daughter these clowns would need to go into hiding. -
I don't think that is a definitive thing. With a combination of witness testimony, physical evidence and recreation of the events using all the other evidence it can be done. I would like to believe that there has been enough evidence to give us a clearer picture as to how the altercation began. There is nothing else more important than determining who started it. As I have said before, if they can't prove GZ started it then he will walk and should.

Honestly I haven't had the time to watch any of the testimony in full from any witness. It sucks because I'd like to but I've been way too busy. During coffee this morning I got ahold of her two hour testimony and skipped to the significant parts to include her getting irritable at the end with the judge and defense attorney. It was disrespectful, but I also don't know how much we should expect from a 19 year old after being on the stand for two hours; any 19 year old. I wouldn't classify her as a 100% reliable witness due to her age and relationship to the deceased, but like with most court cases it isn't any one piece of evidence, it is the totality of evidence. If her testimony can be backed up by other evidence it increases the credibility of the testimony, and has the exact opposite effect if the testimony can be clearly refuted with evidence.

Because it's a double standard. I'm not certain what the bearing that has on this case is. I honestly don't care what racial slurs folks use. Cracker doesn't bother me, and according to her testimony Trayvon also referred to GZ as a ni**er. Perhaps he was an equal opportunity slur user. For all I know GZ is the same. If he is I could care less. I just care who instigated the altercation. That is the single most important piece of information that needs to be proved/disproved.

Negative ghost rider. The stereotypical description given in the gentleman's impression on what he thought of a teenage girl was not what I saw. I saw a 19 year old girl get questioned for several hours in court on a case with national attention and millions of people watching. She seemed soft spoken and clearly articulated despite her Haitian upbringing. Being from Florida and having a few Haitian friends when I was young, they aren't exactly easy to understand through their accents, even ones who have been raised in the US.

This seems to big a huge trend here in Clarksville. Always high school aged kids. I remember a year or two ago two cases in one week where a homeowner caught the punks in the act and detained them for police. One of the cases involved the homeowner holding a group of them at gunpoint while he waited on police, then the mother of one of these dirtbags was quoted in the Chronicle as saying that was unnecessary and wrong or something. Goes to show that the reason the ahole kids do this is because they have ahole crappy parents. If my son ever did anything like that the last thing I would do is talk smack about the victim defending his property. Seems to happen a lot off of Tiny Town road.

Serena Williams is right. It starts with personal responsibility.

I feel the same if it were my kid, but I don't think pointing out how irresponsible it was of the girl to put herself in a situation where a very likely outcome was rape takes ANY of the blame off of the criminal(s) who committed the crime. They need to pay. I see folks get emotional on this because they confuse a lack of sympathy for the victim as either condoning or forgiving the actions of the SOBs that committed the crime. That couldn't be further from the truth. A person's irresponsible actions never excuses a criminal from their responsibility for committing a crime. It's just that folks need to understand that when you put yourself in these high risk situations people might not have any sympathy for you because you should know better. Kinda like when base jumpers die from smacking into a cliff and lawn darting themselves. No, they don't deserve to die because they enjoy base jumping, but I won't expend an ounce of sympathy for someone who dies doing something they know may very well result in their deaths. These girls who get dressed up in slut action gear and get blackout drunk around a bunch of horny young dudes don't deserve my sympathy either when they get three hole qualified. Sure, the perpetrators deserve to go to jail for committing a crime, but it doesn't mean I'm expending any sympathy for the victim. -
I have evidence that Zimmerman is not a reliable source of information. Taking his story at face value is not something most folks here would normally do considering his history of lying in a courtroom to a judge and being caught in the lie. The point is, no one here has any actual "facts". We have evidence, statements but no facts.
