This is why I bought mine. I have the larger version, but it can be operated by security code or by key. I don't care if it could be smashed with a sledge. That means someone would have to carry a sledge or a heavy ass lock box with them after they steal it. Either way, I don't see that happening. If it does I have insurance. Criminals would do more damage to my home or automobile trying to free my firearm than the actual cost of the firearm. In my opinion, these are meant as a deterent to vehicle theft (if properly cabled) or to little hands. I'm more concerned about little hands getting ahold of an unsecured pistol. This gives me peace of mind. I've had it since my first born was a toddler.

Geez, we've effectively hijacked this thing ETP. Let's get back to tackling this queer problem.

Mike, you would be amazed but from what I saw it looked like even HLN was suggesting Zman should be let go on this. I don't like JVM, but she paraded a couple of ignorant lefters that made fools of themselves while the other side made some good points, and it was actually moderated decently enough for folks to digest the testimony the way it actually came off. That last round of testimony was the defense putting this case in a rear naked choke. It's over.

I don't agree. That is like saying that the Revolution was fought over simply taxes. Sure, that was a driving force, but it was really about being subjected to tyranny. Nobody likes to have a finger pointed into their chest and told, "because I'm going to MAKE you do this." I was ready to revolt over Bloomberg's soda ban, and I don't even drink soda or live in New York. I just don't like the idea of someone who is a thousand miles away and doesn't represent me trying to tell me what to do, even if my actions are wrong. Let that be decided by my leadership. There is no question that slavery was evil. I don't think that automatically makes anyone associated with the Confederacy evil though. Just like I don't think everyone who sported a swastika in WW2 was evil. Over a dozen of my ancestors fought on the side of the Confederacy. I don't believe they did because they cared about some rich ahole and his slaves. Our family never owned slaves. Many of my family members fly the Stars and Bars in their front yard. I don't necessarily agree with it for different reasons than you, but I can tell you it isn't because they are racists and it isn't because they're ignorant.

Crap, I wish I could remember the sound byte. I didn't get to watch the testimony, just what HLN was throwing at me on JVM. An interesting show to watch tonight. But there was a sound byte where he said he recommended he be charged. That has been the issue from the start, and to give insight into how I felt regarding it was that I trust the opinion of the guy on the ground more than I trust the DA. Now he is saying that he believes/believed him. I'm confused on many levels.

That is a very general statement. I know of folks with confederate tattoos that voted for Obama and support gay marriage. I don't fly the Confederate flag, but if I suddenly decided to I don't think it would make me a racist. It isn't a qualifier in my book. Honestly, I don't think a swastika is either. Racism exists in intent. Usually that is pretty easy to determine.

Ohhh the irony and the punnery... very rich. But seriously, the subtext of the some of these posts reveals something about folks I find sad.

I knew that you would.

Yup. I wish this could be a non-issue so we can focus on the things that actually WILL destroy our country. We got a tornado bearing down on our house and we're prioritizing ourselves to arranging where the pansies should be in relation to the rose bush.

Had a very disturbing conversation last night

Liberal strongholds such as Memphis aren't meant to be counted. Geography is a combination of ones proximity to the coasts, north east and large cities. Those are the places liberals seem to congregate and poop on the 2A. -
We allow our pets more dignity in death than our loved ones. I hope that by the time I am that age I can go as peacefully as our dog we put down due to his age.
-
Wow, reading through that and other threads was quite the trip down the rabbit hole. WTF? And we wonder why the liberals always make crap about race.... meanwhile we still have (supposedly) law abiding citizens hoping for the destruction/murder of other Americans based on their skin color or religion. I can understand how they draw these conclusions about us when you read up on the vocal minority within the gun owning community.

Well that was sunshiny.

TGO truckers, your opinion on new Fed laws for taking breaks
TMF replied to TMF's topic in General Chat
And not to be unsympathetic to the truckers, but every time the gov screws with the trucking industry the consumer feels it. From a consumer standpoint we all should be paying attention to unnecessary regulations that impact our already stretched economy. I wasn't certain if this was actually solving a problem or another regulation to justify the existence of gov jobs. I travel a bit myself, and I would be able to go quite a ways without getting up to take a pee break. Heck, when I used to make the I-95 run when I was younger I'd drive for nearly 6 hours without stopping. Pee breaks were done on the move. When I fly internationally I handle 12-14 hour flights just fine without getting up. I always figured truckers were better experts at it than me. -
It isn't a political discussion until someone gets compared to Hitler.

Would like to hear a "for" and "against" from those in the profession. I'm not knowledgeable enough to have a solid opinion, but would like to since I think this will have a large impact on the industry. http://m.nbcnews.com/business/feds-truckers-clash-over-new-safety-rules-6C10489607

Like I said above, there is a difference between doing something unpleasant that you HAVE to do versus wishing for something catastrophic to happen so you can get your shoot on. I think folks in the B column do not represent our community well, just as folks who riot and loot do not represent those communities well. At any rate, I'll admit there was a time I was in the trigger happy column. Then I went to war for the first time. My opinions on the supposed glory of fighting bad people changed drastically.

Geography is everything. I have yet to meet an LEO in the south that had opinions anywhere near this. I have a heavily LEO family, and it dates back to the beginning of the last century. They have all been patriots. The problem is California cops come from the pool of commie citizens of California. I can't imagine this type of personality being very successful in Anytown, Tennessee. -
Well then I think it would put them in the same category as the 12 year olds saying they're gonna kill whitey when Zman is acquitted, right?

Isn't there a good Clint Eastwood quote from Unforgiven along the lines of, "there's the the way things oughta be, and the way things are"? Seemed appropriate to reference due to your avatar.

And why this is the only subject regarding gay marriage that gets me worked up. Our government imposes so many regulations, benefits and policies based on how our home life is structured. Arguing to change things to include new groups brings light to the fact the gov shouldn't involved AT ALL. But then there is the way things should be and the way they are. I was traveling across our great country today and was listening to Rush as he made the same argument against gay marriage as gays are making for it, and it boiled down to the government's opinion of your relationship with your spouse. Who the f*** cares what the gov thinks? He argued that his marriage certificate is one I his most valuable possessions... seriously. Now maybe this is just my wife and I, but our marriage certificate is stuffed away somewhere and is stained with fabiric cleaner from where it was left in a seat pocket with a bottle of Febreeze for a couple of years. It is a piece of paper that means absolutely nothing to us. Our relationship is what we have with one another, not what the government opinines what it means. If the government was to stop recognizing our marriage tomorrow it would change nothing about what we have. So folks using the argument, for or against, using similar logic is beyond silly to me. If this is just about money, benefits and patient rights then it shows how silly it is to have the gov involved at all.
