I would be very surprised if the attackers turn out to be French born jihadis. I'm not saying it's impossible, but not probable considering the coordinated manner in which the attack was conducted, along with the OPSEC discipline of the action and support cells prior to the attack. Home grown jihadis can be every bit as crazy, and in most cases crazier, but lack in training and discipline due to their background. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Moral of the story is shoot them in the face then? Considering that far more people are killed with bats and clubs each year than scary assault rifles, I'd say being attacked with a bat would cause reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Would need a lot more info on this one, but I would think that if the shooter was trapped, as in he was stuck in traffic and couldn't drive away, he could have been in reasonable fear in that moment. I don't think I would be, unless someone is trying to pull me out of the car, but a female or a weak/old man may be in reasonable fear depending on the circumstances. The former Marine certainly learned a lesson, didn't he?

Good question. I'll go ahead and absorb that one. Wouldn't want to see anyone else have an accident with their knives after having a few beers. I have really good adult supervision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't see how this is "Sharia in the USA". It obviously has no authority, as the courts are about to demonstrate. I can kidnap a person and establish any pretend laws I want in my home, but that has no bearing on a person's actual rights. This happens all over the US in human trafficking and forced marriages conducted in other countries with the couples immigrating to the US. Slapping the "sharia" part on it may be an eye grabber, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to what is going on in the human trafficking world of non-Muslim POS's: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Circumstances always dictate. There is no single solution which covers all scenarios, and I stand by the logic of containing what has already been identified as a threat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

On my property I'm not going to turn my back or hide inside while someone is out there who has made it clear his intent to do me harm. I want him where I can see him and shoot him if decides to make good on his threat. I know enough to know that aggressors are emboldened by their victims fleeing. I'll not fault the victim here. He was on his property where he had a right to be. The aggressor could have ended it by simply leaving and moving on. The victim did that by going to his own dwelling. Once there, it changes the calculus of the scenario. The victim would not have been in the wrong to shoot this guy in the face. I would not have shown such restraint. So there you go. Sounds like the DA is another pro-crime douche nozzle, who doesn't like it when victims defend themselves. Unless there is something left out of the story, the victim should be facing no charges, regardless of how trivial the actual charges are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yep, anyone in this circumstance should be in reasonable fear for their life. If someone follows you home, then comes at you on your property with a bat, chances are he isn't there because he wants to toss the baseball around. If the aggressor wasn't deterred after the victim pulled out a handgun, the next reasonable step would be shooting him. Understanding that most people would do anything to avoid killing another human being, firing a warning shot into the ground would be the next "reasonable" step to avoid taking someone's life. Whoever is responsible for recommending charges and filing them is an idiot. Cases like this only encourage people to kill in self defense when a completely acceptable option to avoid that exists. I'm assuming the guy with the bat didn't take the victim seriously until he fired the shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Warning shot fired after road rage incident

I'll go with this. My uncle was involved in an SD shoot back in the '90s. Similar situation, where the guy followed him home, only it was late at night and the bad guy attempted to run him off the road several times (mistaken identity). After the third attempt to run him off the road, my uncle put his pistol out the window and fired several warning shots into the engine block (this is out in the country, dirt road). The pursuit continued until my uncle reached his property. Bad guy follows him onto property, gets out of his truck and proceeds to yell at my uncle that he's going to kill him. My uncle answers his remarks by shooting him three times. Bad guy makes it back to the truck and is able to drive his drunk ass to a hospital. Uncle calls Sheriff's Department, they put two and two together, conduct their investigation and recommend no charges for my uncle, and several charges for bad guy. DA gets ahold of it, does not pursue any charges against the bad guy, proceeds to charge my uncle with unlawful discharge of a firearm. Charges were eventually dropped after MADD got ahold of this. Bad guy had a BAC three times the legal limit when he made it to the hospital, admitted to driving and the trespass. This is the danger of liberal Yankee DAs who hates people who defend themselves. Should have driven to the police station. I have no issues with him firing warning shots, or even killing this lunatic with the bat, but don't drive back to your house. You don't want someone like that to know where you live. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 69 replies

The short hair a build of the body was what looked similar. I guess Mals are becoming more popular, but up until recently, Mals just weren't a common breed in the states, outside of military/law enforcement and competition circles. I've been seeing them with more frequency each passing year, so I guess they might be getting mixed into mutt bloodlines more these days. That would be a very uncommon thing just a decade ago. True, because you never know what type of cop you're going to get. I was pulled over in New Jersey a long time ago, and the cop acted like an out of control loony. Last thing I would want is for that type of personality to think that I'm trying to hide what is otherwise completely legal. Most cops aren't this way, of course, but everyone has met that one guy at some point.

Not breaking the law is certainly cheaper. Best way to put the courts out of business is for people to stop breaking laws. Otherwise, the expenses of running the courts can't be compensated with unicorns farts and fairy dust. I'd prefer the law breakers foot as much of the bill as possible rather than those of us who obey the laws. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
