  1. I've started many fires on the ranges out there in New Mexico. That scrub will catch fire if you look at it wrong.
  2. A massive power outage over a widespread area for several weeks is different than what we experience with hurricanes and rolling blackouts. We're talking about an area so large that the government could not provide enough resources fast enough to feed a population who have nothing. 30 days is about the mark I would say where things get real. As big as Sandy was, the power outages were not so widespread and for so long that people were starving. Hell, I grew up in Florida, so I've been without power for nearly a week at a time following a hurricane. What we're talking about is something that is so widespread and damaging that the gov doesn't have the resources to cover down, with aid and the ability to repair damage. Say what you want about New Orleans, but that still was a small area by comparison and they were able to effect a plan in less than a week. What we're talking about is something very different.
  3. Context.
  4. My question when these conspiracy theories come up is "who" and "to what end?" I know, that makes me such a sheeple.
  5. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
  6. We've finally found the solution we've been looking for. Forget hope and change... this is actually tangible! Link to video. http://www.theonion.com/video/report-economy-just-one-speech-away-from-recovery,33342/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing&utm_campaign=LinkPreview:1:Default
  7. I'm enjoying the steady evolution of his name.
  8. It's a small round, but there is some penetrating power behind it. Bears are not immune to the laws of physics just because they weigh three time as much as we do.
  9. I'm willing to put some money down that the judge blesses off on it.
  10. I'm would guess that one of two things happened. Some cops were passing this around and someone leaked it to the press or the word got out that he was pulled over and the press requested the footage, or demanded it. I don't know how FOIA works with stuff like that.
  11.   ... and perhaps reading this thread having a good laugh.
  12.   I did find some of the comments on the article which were outraged that he didn't get a ticket, as if no one had ever got a warning before.  Also, the comment "no where in particular" in response to the question on where he was headed to seemed to make people think he should have been arrested for not telling the cop.  These were Americans.  I imagine Georgie Boy knew that cop cars have dash cams and didn't want the hundreds of people hunting him to know where he was going to.
  13. I doubt this guy will have a problem finding another job in the industry that pays more than a failing rag.
  14. I think he shoulda got a mulligan for the deer, but it's hard to defend baiting turkeys for the purpose of harvesting.
  15. Reminds me of my neighbor when he decided to conduct an unlawful and unprovoked attack for which he was charged. He wrote me a letter pleading for me to drop charges because he would lose his job and wouldn't be able to support his family. My response was "f*** your family." Actions have consequences, and the ball was all in Lenny's court. He CHOSE to do this and therefore he CHOSE the negative ramifications. Not only do I not feel bad for him, I'm glad he's feeling the pain because he'll now think long and hard about this if he ever plans on pulling this stunt again. I'd feel sorry for his wife, but then again she married his dumb a$$, so once again, actions have consequences. We are all the masters of our own destiny. Lenny and his wife have no one to blame but themselves.
  16. I encountered a MS13 member down in Jalisco about 7 years ago while doing a site seeing tour. My wife and I were sitting next to him and his wife. He was well dressed in slacks and a polo, well spoken too. He spoken English with no accent which led me to believe he was an American. He was of Hispanic descent, although he was obviously a mix, having very light colored skin, very much in shape and had a military appearance and demeanor. His wife was an American, beautiful blonde with blue eyes and such. They looked like a typical, good looking American couple. Me and him BS'd for a while, making fun of some annoying college chicks in our group. About 2 hours into the tour he reached forward exposing an MS13 tat on his right bicep. I still find it hard to believe looking back on it. I'll tell ya, he was not what one would consider as a gang member. That organization ain't like the Crips and Bloods. These guys are a professional military organization.
  17. I could be wrong, but my impression of LEOs in the NE, specifically NYC, NJ and Massachusetts is very different than my impression of LEOs I've encountered in the south. For example, all the LEOs I'm friends with are very pro-2A, pro-citizen and pro-self defense. I think if I lived in NYC it would be the exact opposite, so I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt. I don't think they are the same species as LE I'm used to.
  18. This is true. Good or bad, actions have consequences. That is life.
  19. I thought that fact was in dispute.
  20. Ha, well from the perspective of enlisted swine it is much, much different. BTW, I'm assuming you were Cav. If you were in charge of a FOB, would you play your unit's song over the loudspeaker every morning at 0800? It has happened with a Cav unit, and one of the more bizarre things I've seen Fobbits do downrange.
  21. I don't OC, but this is a place I would do it just to mess with those unwashed wannabes.
  22. Well I'm still on the fence on whether or not they acted wrongly. It is a matter of opinion right now that the case shaped like a loaded AR15 combined with his wearing of body armor didn't give them PC to determine if it was in fact loaded. I know what you're going to say in response to that, but I'm going to wait to hear what they have to say in court. I agree with the premise of your argument, but if they can articulate to I'm willing to accept that too.
  23. Hmmm, I remember my time working with the CSM and that was like being a battered wife. Always scraping and bowing, not knowing whether to expect praise for good work or a beating due the sins of another.
  24. Ninja please, there is a big difference between what we have in our houses/trucks and what we strap on our bodies. I am not a hoplophobe by any means. I've been surrounded by hundreds of former al Qaeda fighters armed with everything from AKs, machineguns and RPGs without a great deal of uneasiness. It remains all about context.
  25. I don't disagree with anything there. Maybe I'm blurring here the panic he was intentionally inciting and the officers actions after detaining him. I've said from the start that I don't believe he will walk away from this convicted. I do think there is a chance that they will be able to articulate PC though. At least enough to defeat any lawsuit he comes back with.
