We could extend that to just about any profession, but that does not absolve a criminal of civil liability. What you're describing makes sense if the officer was trying to sue his department for putting him in harms way, but not for the criminal. Essentially what you're saying is that a person can do anything to a cop without fear of civil liability. That means that police officers are the only people that applies to; how does that make sense? So, for example, we all know that working in a convenience store puts you at an extremely high risk of be robbed. If, while on the clock, you're shot by a robber and he is later caught, why can't you sue him civilly? He sure as hell can sue you if you shoot him is self defense. Your choice of profession does not absolve a criminal of their civil liability. I wish cops would sue people more; they deserve to be compensated by the people who injure them. For example, my dad came home more than once with black eyes and skinned elbows from suspects who attacked him. He had a severe back injury requiring surgery halfway through his career, which had him benched for months, all because some big drunk decided to fight him. Unfortunately they didnt have pepper spray and tasers back then. So who do you think picked up that bill? Hmmmm? Was it the drunk who attacked him? Oh no, it was the tax payer, and that was only in the form of medical bills and paid leave to recover. It probably cost the state in the tens of thousands of dollars. Of course, there was no compensation for pain and suffering. Why should there not be? Why couldn't a cop in that situation sue the person who attacked him? Because he was on the clock??? That does not pass the sniff test.

That's like asking if the child has a right to non-idiot parents. Sure he does, but that's not what he's gonna get. I feel bad for kids whose parents give them dumb names, but setting a precedent where the court makes that choice for you is a subjective slippery slope.

Based on the quotes from the MIL, I've got a pretty good idea where they stand in regard to the shooting. We don't know about what this woman and her family has done in the interim regarding this department and this officer. For all we know there is a suit in the works and the cop got wind of it, so he decided to strike first. As for the frivolity of the suit, yeah, it's a little abstract to say that she didnt properly inform dispatchers, but then again, is it? It's one thing to call the cops because there is a burglar in your home. There are inherent risks and assumptions the police make. This woman failed to inform that this guy was on hallucinogenic drugs. That is important information to know, and she knew it. Her actions were willful and led to the officer being attacked and nearly killed with his own weapon because the call was treated a certain way based on the misleading information from the caller.

So if you work at a bank and are assaulted during an armed robbery, you have no right to sue the robbers? Getting robbed is part of the job, right? I actually like this precedent for a number of reasons. I don't see why being a cop opens you up to liability from criminals yet being a criminal doesn't open you up to liability from the cops. One more thing, we all have that guy in the family who is a scumbag. He may even be a fun guy to hang out with, and you love him as he is your brother/uncle/cousin/in-law, but he is still a scumbag for whatever reason. When my scumbag family member gets lumped up by the cops, my first reaction isn't to think that the cops did something wrong, because I know the scumbag's MO. Now, this woman who is being sued KNOWS this guy had been taking hallucinogenic drugs for DAYS. How dare she call the police to get this guy when she was in fear, then accuse them of using too much force and murdering him? It's possible to still love your dead family member, yet accept they were responsible for their own demise.

The military is hopeless in regard to the new age political correctness. I've heard some of the dumbest crap come out of the EO, sexual harassment, don't ask don't tell and suicide briefings over the years to know that the people who write this crap have no idea what reality looks like. No kidding, I sat through a briefing where I was told that it could be considered rape to have consensual sex with a female soldier if she'd had ANYTHING to drink, but if she was sober and had consensual sex with me while I was drunk then it ain't sexual assault. I still haven't been able to do the math on that one. Now with all the anti religious groups leaning on the dumbocrats, who knows how far they'll take it. I can't imagine being a commander nowadays; having to investigate every stupid thing and throw your Soldiers under the bus in the name of PC.

No, but I keep claymores behind the headlights.

This one was likely domesticated and released. They make mention of the evidence on his teeth in the article. Since it was probably transplanted, it's safe to say there aren't more of them.

The carry wars. Begun it has.

According to the story this guy was a father of three children, so the fact he was so high and violent that she evacauted the house of the kids and called 911 is irrelevant. Clearly the cops were just in one of those moods where they just wanna shoot an innocent person and coincidently came upon a man who had injested hallucinogenic drugs which make you prone to violence. This cop is awesome. I hope he takes the family to the cleaners, as it appears the family was accusing him of murder and no doubt were going to sue him or the department.

When the ACLU sues this place for discrimination..... oh wait, nevermind. -
Only complaint is that since it isn't on HBO or Showtime we get no boobies, ever.

I always keep an AK in the truck. Is that not normal?

Too quick. I'd just arrange a Jeffrey Dahmer style death on the inside. That's about as close as you can get to what they put the victims through. I hear that prison hits are cheap.

The concept of education isn't failing, it's the execution.

I know this may not even be a relevant issue for an agnostic, but I do believe there is much pressure from religious groups on our elected leaders to be outspoken for the rights and safety of the Christian population in Egypt. There are more Christians in Egypt than there are in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama put together... maybe more.

I don't know too many black folks, but those I do know are not part of the thug-entitlement subculture which is specific to black Americans. I don't expect them to take any responsibility for the subculture which exists that they have no part of simply because of the color of their skin. Hell, I think about some folks I've met who come from Kenya and Uganda who would never, ever consider themselves part of that culture and look down upon those who live it. Why should they be expected to own any of the blame for a specifically black subculture of entitled thugs any more than I? They are no more a part of that community than I am. I'm from a very poor white trash area which probably has the highest concentration of single wide trailers and meth addicted destitute alcoholics in the country. I don't know if that is absolutely true, it's just the shi**iest place I've ever been that was predominantly white. I don't have a stake in any of the actions of those folks simply because I'm white. I may poke fun and whatnot, but it really isn't part of my life or my concern. I'm just concerned about raising my own children correctly. The few black folks I know view the ghetto rats of thuggery and entitlement the same way I view the white trash of my hometown; irrelevant and sad. I've heard folks say before that if they were black they'd be ashamed for all the stuff other black folks do in order to extort entitlements and guilt the country. Well, why would you? Being black doesn't automatically lump you in to the same category as other black people that may have a less desireable character. If anything, we would be ashamed as it would be society which does the lumping for us, which is a narrow view. Who cares what society thinks when it makes a judgement solely on skin color? I'd rather make judgements on someone who walks around with their pant waist below their butthole. That is a prejudice I can support. The fact, that this subculture is specifically black doesn't mean it involves all blacks specifically; no more than white trash being the responsibility of all white people. I think this is a case of the most outspoken, or at least most broadcasted, voices being those of hard line racists like JJ and Sharpton. People whose biggest fear is true racial harmony and equality, because such a world would make them irrelevant and poor. EDIT: Had to look around for it, but I remembered this interview from a while ago. It kinda gets at what I'm talking about in regard to not being expected to take a stand on something simply because of your skin color. Can you think of how rediculous this incredibly intelligent man would look if he spent his time condemning the actions of a backward subculture of thugs... he has nothing to do with them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPf03T8YN-4

Yeah, this one is pretty legit though. There is quite a bit of video out there. If you dig around there is some pretty morbid photo journalism of the event that isn't appropriate to post. Apparently there were several hundred killed during the crack down; a good many of them in this giant occupy village they hit. I guess the fire is a result of all the tear gas they fired in. Lotta folks got burned up. That propaganda video that was filmed the other day probably didn't even take place anywhere near Cairo. Wouldn't change my opnion if any of it was real or fake anyhow. The Muslim Brotherhood needs to have its nuts crushed and shown no mercy.

I have a simpler face mane. Intro level of the TBOC (Tactical Beard Owner's Club). When paired with the Tactical Turtle Neck or "Tactile Neck" you can actually defeat Chuck Norris.

Figured you'd been around the block for a while. I think I was in Infantry School the last time I saw someone sporting a Flower Power patch.
-
I've only seen a few people OC and they seemed pretty normal. They looked like the type of dudes that tuck their shirt in no matter what. I'm not that guy, so I don't have an issue putting a shirt tail over it. I'll tell ya though, when I see a bait video of an OCer trying to get into an altercation with the police so he can squawk about rights, I want to jump through the screen.

Every prosecutor and Judge should be forced to watch that movie. Especially the ones in my area.

It probably was in some way. Maybe they just wanted to rape a white girl. I don't think that has anything to do with this other than proving that liberals will focus on race if the victim is of a different skin color than white. These animals don't deserve to be convicted of a so-called "hate crime." They simply deserve to be raped to death by a herd of rhinos, just like anyone who would commit the crimes they did. I really don't want to think about what the victims went through. At first I couldn't believe how any human being could do the things these monsters did to an innocent person, but then considered how I would have no problem torturing and killing these animals in the same way they did their victims. In fact, I would probably sleep better.

Speaking of beards, who else is rocking some awesome face power?
-
Yeah, I don't care. They can line 'em up and run 'em over with bulldozers. They're pulling the typical "victim" card about the army coming in and shwacking them and their kids they brought to stay in their opposition tent village. Who brings children to a violent street war? These monkeys are putting their kids in harms way in hopes that they'll get killed so they can use that against the military. If ever there was a group of people who needed to be violently crushed without mercy it would be these Muslim Brotherhood extremists.
