  1. Yes!!!
  2. I know... Love it!
  3.   There was actually a post by a newer member a few weeks back regarding a friend of his who was charged and given some kind of deferred sentence for carrying past a posting.  Can't determine the veracity of the statement, but there's nothing about the story that stood out to be considered suspect.  I guess the posting was at a location that had previous gun violence (Memphis) and they had a security officer make the carrier.  The guy was wrapped up before he had a chance to even leave, then was transferred over to police.  The location was legally posted.   Based on the way the story sounded, the guy never saw the posting and could have likely fought it, but didn't for whatever reason.  I'd rather drop a few thousand on a lawyer than to donate to the state in the form of a fine or even be given a deferred ruling for a BS law I didn't intentionally break.
  4. Finally!  Honest trailers has done WWZ!  You must watch this; it is obligatory for participating in this thread.      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2cS5Fv5xIQ
  5.   Well, he flat out calls gun legislation unconstitutional.  That isn't the type of language you hear from even moderate democrats and even some middle of the road republicans.  I don't think someone who is a social liberal, such as this guy, is anti-gun by default.  Just like I don't think being gay and being a 2A advocate is mutually exclusive.  Being a CNN opinion writer and being pro 2A is, and that's why I find this story interesting.  I really think CNN is going to make the effort (again) to put more conservative views on their website and cable channel in order to dig themselves out of the hole.  Of course, they've tried that before without success.   And just to explain how I qualify "pro 2A", I don't believe that means you have to be an activist or outspoken.  Simply believing the truth that gun control is unconstitutional is enough.
  6.   No.
  7.   I'm am literally laughing at this item in bold.  I mean, seriously.  Not only have they made it clear, but we have several pages of thread along with several companion articles that negate your item in bold.  They are undecided about it because they don't want to be in a position to make a decision.... BECAUSE THEY MAKE FRIGGIN COFFEE!!!  They just want to sell coffee in a non-politicized environment.  That means they have no problem with you or anyone else carrying a firearm (pistol, obviously).  They just don't want to be involved with activism in any way; for or aginst.  They've taken this same attitude towards the anti-gun nuts as well.  Instead of some gun owners interpreting that for what it is and being the more mature folks, thus making the antis look crazier, we had to one-up their crazy by carrying AKs into Starbucks on some kinda made up Starbucks holiday to celebrate a cause they have expressed (for years) they want nothing to do with.... BECAUSE THEY MAKE FRIGGIN COFFEE!!!
  8. Ahhhhhh! For the millionth time, this isn't about OC; it's about OC ACTIVISM. This is about OCers and guys slinging rifles and shotguns for political activity on Starbucks' property. People have been OCing into Starbucks for years without issue, and Starbucks has REPEATEDLY over the years said they will support whatever the laws of the state say. Only when guntards interpreted that to mean Starbucks was the place to make a political statement did their language change. They warned about this before. Stupid people didnt listen. Now they have this.
  9. I've actually been to a high end range, complete with cigar bar and a real bar. They wouldn't let the types in there who OC a rifle into a Starbucks though. These people have standards.
  10. Please tell me you didn't miss the Scarface reference.
  11. Perhaps when we get a timeline for delivery we can set up regional build parties so that folks with tools can show up to give folks the ability and training to DIY. I have beer when I build mine, as a rule.
  12. I've noticed that we don't see postings from many of the LEOs I used to see around here. Some of them were local to me. I figured its because they get dog piled when they feel they have to constantly defend the profession. Wish I'd see more of them but don't expect to. I don't think they feel welcome here.
  13. In a perfect world I would be able to nail two Asian prostitutes while taking a hit off a three foot tall bong full of the icky sticky without having to fly all the way to Amsterdam. But instead, here I am learning Dutch....
  14. If I was in Tennessee I would prove a point right now. I would strap on my biggest, bulkiest gun in a Serpa holster, waltz on down to to Starbucks and grab a cup of their horribly overpriced coffee. They won't say a thing to me. Know why? Because this ain't about carrying. The only thing they've made clear is that they don't want activists using their place as a soapbox. They don't care if you carry. You should be able to extrapolate that from their past statements which have led up to the current position. The only reason I think you and others don't get that is because you don't want to. You need an enemy to point the finger at to say "that's the bad guy." Well take a good look, cause that's the best lookin' bad guy you're ever gonna see... the mermaid chick with the boobs. Wait, what the hell are we talking about?
  15. Funny you should ask. I've actually been hopped up on a combination of whatever coffee Australians drink and espresso. I'm traveling at the moment and I have unlimited access to an espresso machine. If I could just make it Irish this thread might get interesting.
  16. I think you're choosing to ignore what they're saying by simplifying this into a pro or anti gun argument. If you could look at this objectively you would see there's nothing to get upset about. There is no bad guy here other than the pro/anti crowd that is demanding Starbucks take a side. They make coffee. Shall I write AutoZone and ask them to let me protest abortions on their property, then get mad when they say no and accuse them of wanting dead babies? No, they just want to sell car parts. I seem to recall when the Chick Fil A fiasco was going on, many here were angry at the libs who chose to start a boycott simply because of the religious beliefs of the owner. Folks were saying that his personal beliefs had nothing to do with the business. Well in this case Starbucks has chosen not to take any side or stance at all. They just want to be left the hell out of it. How do you not see that? Really?
  17. Just because I don't think it won't happen doesn't mean I'm not ready in case it does.
  18. In no way is this funny. Just so childish....
  19. Please read the comments by their corporate office. They don't care about guns one way or the other. They just want to be left out of the debate. They're asking nicely, and instead of digesting that like adults who seek to understand both sides of the debate, we're choosing to act offended and get hostile with this company. I got no problem gettin fighting mad, but I want to make sure it's for the right reasons. This ain't it. There's a lot of smart folks here, you included. I don't see why you can't understand what they're saying. This has absolutely nothing to do with people who choose to carry, concealed or otherwise.
  20.     The people who need to read this post will never, ever understand what you're trying to say.  All they hear is bah bah bah sheeple bah bah bah.  It's so sad and why our whole gun owning community is easily dismissed by middle America.
  21.   Of course they don't care about us; that isn't the point.  They have clearly stated that they have no intention of enforcing this policy.  They are simply distancing themselves from the activism associated with it.  I bet you that if you OC'd into any Starbucks just to grab a coffee no one would say a thing to you.  If you walked in there with a rifle or 30+ guys doing a silent protest?  Yah, that's what they're talking about.
  22.   Simmer down there Nancy.  Clearly I'm not the problem.  The problem is, and always will be, people who push their values on other people.  Whether it be liberals or conservatives, it is wrong.  It doesn't bother me if someone is anti-gun.  Why should it?  It is their business.  What bothers me is when someone wants to push their anti-gun ideals on me.   Now, a place like Starbucks that does not care one way or the other (because it's a business, and in case you weren't aware they exist solely to make money; don't kid yourself).  They don't want to be part of this debate, because it puts them in a position where they could potentially lose money by siding with activists on one side or the other.  People who want to push them to one side (lets call them "fascists") are putting them in a position they don't want to be.  Turns out there are fascists on both sides, pulling them in two directions; both claiming that they are with them or against them.  How about the fascists just leave them alone and let them make some friggin coffee?   No matter what YOU'RE opinions are, they don't matter squat at a private business.  They aren't curtailing any of your rights, unless I missed the amendment which states you have the right to Starbucks.  By ignoring their right to property you would actually be infringing on their rights by trespassing.  The principles of liberty apply to more folks that just yourself and those who agree with you.  It's like that for a reason.... ref: fascists.   And don't misunderstand me, I could care less if someone OCs.  I promise you it doesn't bother me one bit.  What bothers me is the activism done in conjunction with OCing.  And really, that doesn't even bother me much other than the risk of liberals trying to outlaw something else.  What bothers me are folks who are using a PRIVATE entity as a soapbox for their activism then spewing their nonsense with righteous indignation when that PRIVATE entity tells them not to do it.  It's rediculous.  It flies in the face of the basic principles of liberty; freedom for you and freedom from you.  Feel free to OC all day long; I'll not think you an idiot at all.  Strap on a rifle, walk into a private business for the purpose of activism then get pissy when they say they don't want you there?  Yah, idiot doesn't begin to describe.
  23.   Keep in mind that there is still a significant percentage of this country that believe abortion and homosexuality is a sin.  I don't see how parents raising their children would raise them any differently.  Yes, society accepts certain things as a whole, but individually we really don't.  I mean, acceptance of homos hasn't made any of us gay or gay people more gay.  It just made it okay to be out of the closet.  Legalizing abortion didn't change folks' opinions on the moral implications of murdering a baby, especially when people have been doing back alley abortions since the days of Roman brothels.   The difference in firearms legislation is they are forcing something on you, as opposed to simply changing the social norms of gun ownership.  When abortion was legalized it meant nothing for people who consider it evil.  When gays started flamboyantly flying out of the closet it didn't make anyone suck a ####.  However, confiscation requires action.  Actions result in reactions.  There will always be a percentage of our population who will use their firearms in self defense if the gov comes to take them.  That will be true 100 years from now.
  24.   Let's be honest, this has absolutely nothing to do with the few OCers who are just going about their business.  This policy is directly tied to the OC activism, such as groups of folks taking Starbucks by force with open carry sidearms or carrying long guns.  Yes, it is legal, but I would like for someone to give me a rational explanation for why they need to strap a rifle to them when they go to Starbucks.  The common answer to that is "because I can."  Well, okay; I'll accept that as an answer as soon as people accept that any business can ask you to leave if you're carrying a rifle... because they can.    Rights are a two way street.  It isn't about the right to not feel uncomfortable, it's about a business controlling the environment they operate in.  I doubt Starbucks gave two craps about CCers or even OCers during the conduct of everyday operations.  If they did they would have come up with this policy a looooooooonnnng time ago.  So what's changed?  Do you think this is the first time liberals came after Starbucks for not having an anti-gun policy?  No, it isn't.  What has changed is the guntards using Starbucks as a political platform.  As pro 2A that I am, I would adopt a similar policy if my business was being hijacked by a bunch of aholes who represent a marginal amount of my customer base.  We are now those aholes.  Don't thank Starbucks for that, thank the Voldemorts within our midst.
