I keep an AK in the truck. Usually have a spare mag or two with it. However, I don't think there are too many people out there who will play after getting 30 rds barked at 'me from an AK. Generally speaking, criminals don't have a death wish. They will resort to flight mode when met with equal or superior violence 99% of the time.

Well, in my opinion, I don't think it is good to scare someone who is new to shooting/self defense with price tags and caveats that "anything less isn't good enough"; especially when the vast majority of AR components, such as parts, uppers, lowers and barrels are made in the same place, just given different stamps. The fact is that if there were widespread issues with lower end AR15s it would be well documented and easily accessible information. Other than a bunch of gun snobs on AR15.com, I don't see issues out there for the type of guy who owns an AR for the occasional plinking and home defense. When we, as people who are more experienced than the newcomer, fill their head with misinformation and scare them with cost prohibitive criteria for AR ownership we're doing the community a disservice. I believe every home in America should have an AR15. Not everyone can drop 1,200-1,600 on a DD rifle or a Noveske. They have bills and stuff. If a person can afford a $600 AR then we should encourage them to buy it so long as the company who makes it is reputable. Smith and Wesson and DPMS both make an AR around that price point. Those companies are every bit as reputable as any other. There are very few AR manufacturers that put out faulty products. The ones that do don't last long and tend to change their names every few years.

The more I read about this story the more rage I feel. This whole thing would have been over in less than a couple of seconds if the man was allowed to arm himself. Instead they were forced to rely on a police force who were too late, as usual, and a judicial system that rewards violent criminals and encourages these violent acts. We need to start purging these scum who have been unleashed on our population; we can't depend on the law to do it.

I've had Colts, Oly Arms, Spikes, RRA and DPMS rifles. Not a thing wrong with any of them. You don't have to drop a grand to get a rifle that throws accurate rounds out the other end reliably. I'm not sure where the idea comes from that any of those rifles can't do what a Colt LE will do other than have a horsey on it, especially for someone who isn't using it very often. Hell, one of my ARs is built on a plastic lower with plastic internals. I challenge anyone here to bring some ammo and put a couple thousand rounds through it in a day and get even ONE malfunction. If a rifle can fire thousands of rounds accurately and reliably without maintenance it has passed the "defensively viable" test, since I don't know too many people who can carry a combat load of 30+ mags n them.

Of course it's worth it. It ain't about the money. In the long run it wouldn't be worth it to burn their houses down and piss on the ashes, but it's what I'd do if they terrorized my family like that.

I sad to hear we don't ally with them any more. Israel!

Don't misinterpret me bringing up WBC as to be insulting. It was to make a point about how ridiculous it is to claim to know what God's intentions are when things around us happen. I could have just as easily used Muslims who do the same as an example, it's just the "God hates fags" crowd is more recognizable in their assertion they know God's intention. For me, it's nails on a chalkboard when anyone does it. I don't think one can refute another's belief when they feel a divine hand intervene in their own lives, as no one knows what that person experienced, but to say that you know when God is intervening in the lives of others, especially people you don't even know, is BS. A person who claims to know God's intent when an earthquake hits San Francisco should just as easily be able to SPECIFICALLY explain to me God's intent when a 5 year old dies of cancer. -

If anything, our support for Israel should simply be because its the right thing to do. They've been invaded multiple times by their neighbors and one state in the region seeks to wipe them from the earth. They remain one of the few allies we can keep from being invaded again without ever worrying about committing troops. However, if we turned our back on Israel tomorrow, they would not last long. Unlike countries such as Kuwait, Israel doesn't expect us to do the fighting for them; they just need someone in their corner. To abandon them would be dishonorable, in my opinion. A more simple reason is that very evil people want to destroy Israel. We should not stand by and let evil terrorize the free world, especially when we expected, and got, so much support from the international community after 9/11. -
Eh, my dad was at work all the time. He was a cop and they have jacked up shifts unless they work days. Even then, I don't recall much appliance fixing since we didnt have many appliances. The first dryer I had was one I bought in my 20s. Besides that, I don't recall my parents ever remodeling anything since I'm sure they never had the money to. They're into all kinds of stuff now; gardening and building fences and barns. They were real young parents so both worked throughout my childhood for very little money.

What in the hell is that officer doing with that gun anyway??? Doesn't he know those things will randomly kill children???

A house I once rented had the vent hole going through the crawl space beneath the home. Of course, they had just laid new floors before I moved in there and didn't cut the hole for the ventilation duct, so when I was setting up the washer and dryer I was lost in the sauce. The vent comes out the back of the house on the home I currently own. Every year these damned black birds somehow manage to yank off the grate I have over the vent and make a nest in there. Every year until this past year when I killed one of those bastards.

The point I'm making is that people are often claiming to know God's intentions and will beyond what is in the Bible, and they do so by interpreting events to suit their opinions. For example, the Westboro Baptist Church claims that "God hates fags" and therefore equate the deaths of US military servicemembers as God's wrath for society condoning homosexuality. It's rediculous. Gay sex may be a sin in the Bible, but when you attribute events to divine intervention on behalf of scripture you are now attempting to speak for God. It's no different than if I just randomly pick an innocent person suffering from cancer and say they are suffering God's wrath because of the sins of our country. Who the f*** am I to speak for God? I'm sure if He has something to say, He'll say it Himself. -

I think it's pretty presumptuous to assume God's intent in anything. We give Darwin awards to people who dumb things and get themselves killed, but would we attribute divine intervention to those deaths or do we simply say that stupid is as stupid does? I guess what I'm getting at is America is destroying itself due to destructive policies and lifestyles. The same way an idiot that "knows" his gun is clear and subsequently removed himself from the gene pool through his own stupidity. I hardly think that is some sort of divine punitive measure; just stupid acts leading to stupid results. -
Well he's educated and has a higher paying job, but one's worth based on income is a subjective perception. In NYC he wouldn't be considered rich by comparison, but where I live you're in the top percentile of income if you're sporting a brand new Range Rover. This guy isn't a meat eater, which is why I feel real bad for him that he was forced to take on a large gang of biker douches. For people like him the law is all he has and it failed him and his family miserably.

Owning a home is where you learn all the dad stuff. Since I've owned my house I've leaned a whole lot of stuff I didn't know before. It's a learning experience, but one I know will come in handy for the next one I buy.

I don't discriminate against sporty boobs. They were nice. Liked hers better than the other chick with the giant fake ones.

I've spent 4 years in combat zones and it remains that the most intense near death experiences were climbing out of windows when I was in high school.

I drool over Dizzy's boobs. Best part of the movie, twice.

I hope the next few decades this wife and mother spend wiping this guys butt are a miserable hell for them all until the mother eventually dies, the wife leaves him and the paralyzed piece of garbage spends his remaining years alone and depressed until he finally takes his own life in a final act if cowardice. F*** these people. I'm tired of honest people being victimized by rabid baboons only to have the family of these baboons show absolutely NO shame for the actions of these criminals.
-
No surprise. See the post above yours. This plays out repeatedly across the country. Criminals live in a consequence-free environment while the law-abiding citizen is prosecuted when defending themselves in a situation they didnt create. God help these people if its ever my family victimized. I'm betting it this was the family of the DA or anyone in local government they'd be charging people. Since its just a lowly pleb, who cares.

Sometimes "you don't know what you don't know" can be frustrating
TMF replied to Mark A's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You can be an expert on building an upper after 10 minutes on YouTube. Don't be afraid of doing it yourself; it's pretty difficult to screw up. The biggest problem building an AR is dropping roll pins or sending springs flying. That has held up more builds than I care to mention. Currently I have a rifle with no dust cover because I dropped the clamp that holds the pivot rod in place. If you don't have the tools I'm sure there's a TGOer close to you that would let you borrow theirs. -
The permissive environment for criminals that procrime DAs and Judges have created, along with legislation aimed at disarming and dissuading people from defending themselves will eventually give rise to widespread vigilante justice. Pretty soon criminals are gonna tangle with the wrong guy and he's gonna mow down a crowd of hoodlums. As far as this pack of wild beasts, they need to be tracked down, systematically executed, fed to pigs, houses burned and earth salted.

Been there. In fact, just posted about it in the dummy thread. Takes a second to realize the sensation you're experiencing is all that juice flowing through you.

Off the top of my head I can't figure why. I would have to actually look at it. I'd say next time you take it shooting, when it fails to reset go ahead and remove the lower and inspect the trigger group.
