Hired aholes with guns to block citizens from Independence Hall
TMF replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
To handle the labor intensive task of keeping people away. We had to furlough a small number of workers so we could hire twice that amount to keep people from accessing what is publicly owned. Seems legit. -
TGO Lowers "what your going to build" "how to build" General discussion thread
TMF replied to Luke E.'s topic in General Chat
That is an incredible deal. If you jump on that along with the $60 lower they had a deal on you would have a sub-$650 brand new AR. Anyone in the market for a new AR should be jumping on this. -
James Woods is a funny guy who I think has reached the age that one stops giving a flying f*** what the colleagues around him think. I'm sure he can retire from the big and small screen and still do fine. I don't expect he'll be getting too much work in Hollywood after making the headlines with this, other than Family Guy, of course. Seth Macfarlane may be a flaming liberal and closeted homosexual, but he still has the likes of James Woods and Rush Limbaugh doing guest appearances of his show.

Yeah, I see these being advertised on the Hiperfire website, but perhaps I misunderstood PSA as marketing it as their own: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/palmetto-state-armory-hipertouch-lpk.html I do like the idea of increased hammer strength with a 2.5 trigger pull, since I'm currently dealing with a light strike issue with what I'm running now and have heard CMC can be prone to light strikes on rimfire. This is going into an M&P 15-22 dedicated for a slidefire. Do you recall how much pretravel there was in this trigger compared to other aftermarket triggers you've handled? Also, how quick was the reset compared to a stock trigger group? Was it over the top noticeable or about the same only slightly better?
-
Thanks for the line on that. They have the CMC trigger I've been pricing, it's just that I'd like the ability to adjust as low as 2.5 lbs on a single stage trigger and the CMCs are 3.5. I read that there is hardly any pre travel on the CMC and reset is fast, but the poundage is more than I'd like. I haven't seen many reviews on the Hipertouch by folks who've experienced other aftermarket trigger assemblies, but can't help but be wooed by the price tag on PSA's Hipertouch + LPK for the price of just one CMC. I really hate blowing $200 and not be happy with what I get.

Marketing gimmick that plagues the firearms industry and PSA is not immune; I realize that's nails on a chalkboard for you, kinda like marshal arts. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this one rather than getting the Chip McCormick trigger I've been eyeing since this one is adjustable. Just wanted to know if anyone has squeezed this on to see if it's good stuff. Right now it comes with a LPK for $200 on PSA.

Saw this on the Drudge earlier. The win goes to one of the comments in response to the family describing one of the hoodlums needing to "find himself", with the commenter pointing out that now a whole bunch of people will be finding him all over the place.

FFL Carries Responsibility for Selling New, Defective Gun?
TMF replied to a plinkin's topic in General Chat
In theory the FFL should give you the option of a refund or to wait on it to come back from Ruger. I don't agree that he should be legally obligated to refund the money, but it's just poor business not to if you ask. If the dealer was up front and refused to refund under these circumstances he deserves to be outed. Sounds to me like he didnt come out and say that though. Sounds like he convinced you that sending it back to the factory was the way to go. If you really want your money back and be done with this lemon I'd let him know and ask for your money back. If he doesn't like it then he should be publicly outed for running a bad shop. -
I'm familiar with Oath Keepers. What I'm referring to is the new directive they're pushing, who it will attract and what it will mean for folks who organize themselves into the detachments and auxiliary.

Pentagon freezes death benefits for fallen soldiers' families
TMF replied to EMB145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The death gratuity and SGLI are two different things. You get the gratuity in addition to SGLI. So SGLI should not be affected by this, just the death gratuity. I can't remember what it was when I was in. I want to say it was 50K. Could be more though. I think it was only 10K when I joined and 100K for SGLI, which you actually pay into. By the time I got out we were paying into a 400K SGLI policy, which is similar to the 400K VGLI policy I pay into now. Feds can't touch it. It ain't theirs. -
It's really a complex subject when you consider the scenario that would have to take place which would lend itself to such an organization, which likely have members spread out distances which would require automobiles to conduct link up, to step in and fill the "force multiplier" role; especially when they have families of their own to worry about, along with property and resources they likely want to keep protected. Let's face it, the type of person who would be in such an organization has probably prepared himself so that he has the resources on hand to survive longer than most of the population. They aren't gonna want to leave that unprotected, along with their wife and children so they can go show grease monkeys and accountants how to plan and execute ambushes. Then there is the consideration of legitimacy of such an organization. Chances are, even in a breakdown of society, many elements of local government would remain intact, to include law enforcement. Yeah, there'd be a lot of cops who would be more concerned with taking care of their families, but there would be a concerted effort to regain control, even if that is the government co-opting policing to neighborhood groups. Without some previously established influence with the local government, I don't see a bunch of guys in camouflage stepping in and being greeted with open arms. In fact, they might well be interpreted as a threat and hostile to local efforts to regain legitimate control and peace. Such a group may find itself the target of the local government and might not be very popular with the people they intend to support. With all that in mind, I also consider that the current federal and state governments would look at such a group organizing itself in such a manner as an organization they would want to keep the pulse on. Not to say that such attention from the government should discourage upstanding citizens from forming such an organization. By all means, f*** the government; this country was fought for by militias of friends and neighbors. I'm just saying that the type of people with the skills to make this legitimate are also the type of people who don't fancy being on the "radical" radar for personal and professional reasons. As far as the "fringe" comment goes, it is what it is. Yes, there are a whole lot of sane and thoughtful people who would encourage the existence of such an organization. I am one of them. But we also have to admit there are those who romanticize the concept of armed rebellion and have militantly extremist views of the government. They tend to be as logical as liberals, they just happen to exist on our end of the spectrum. Normal people, folks with the skills desired here, don't want to work with nutjobs. The problem with nutjobs is they don't know they're nutjobs and they tend to bring along more nutjobs. That attracts the kind of attention I mentioned in my first post. If an organization like this was to exist it would have to be managed by very locked on people and the vetting process would have to go thoroughly beyond a VFW membership. Kinda like the Freemasons. In fact, don't they already have the market on this cornered?

I was looking into these earlier after seeing them on the PSA website. Anyone use one of these before that would recommend for or against it?

Thanks for the tip. Just scooped up two more.

It was the same story, just with the girl being related somehow to the original Carrie, from what I recall. It's been a loooong time since I've seen it, but from what I recall it was a continuation of the original story.

Kentucky Says "No More Post Game Handshakes at Highschools"
TMF replied to analog_kidd's topic in General Chat
Eh, I've been in a few scuffles during the post game handshake. Folks that take stuff personally use that as an opportunity to run their mouth. Had one who shoved me as my hand was extended; can't fault a guy for taking the bait on that one. Post game scuffles are as important as post game handshakes. Let boys be boys. -
I don't think this is such a good plan right now?????
TMF replied to bersaguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hopefully no one needs any emergency care during that three day period then. I'm sure children suffering life threatening injuries and their parents shouldn't get mad when they can't get to a hospital. -
I hear each one of these detachments they're creating comes with its own FBI informant.

I know it's a joke and all, but double bubble would do the trick. Don't know if I'd use it as a SHTF gun, but it'd still shoot.

The first time I used a PVS-22 with glass burning through it there was probably 85%+ illum and I thought it was the most awesome leap in scoped NV yet, since I'd only used a simrad and PVS-10 before. Everything was crystal clear, and I could easily see enough definition at 300m to determine if a target was armed. This was in a controlled environment on a range. The first time I used in downrange there was probably 15% illum and I couldn't see a pack of dogs 75m away from me. The weapon was pretty much useless until an hour or two before dawn. And yeah, first time I saw trace through a Leupold spotting scope with a PVS-14 strapped on it looked like the Matrix. Pretty neat so long as there is enough illumination out.
