  1. ....and my local dealer charges $100 for class III transfers.
  2. Interesting. Thanks for all the info....a lot more to it than I assumed. I would opt for the colt style mags and will likely wait till I have the funds to buy a dedicated lower for it. I did not know that the adapters were so expensive. I had'nt checked into it that far.
  3. Can anyone recommend an AR upper chambered in 9mm? I was at Guns and Ammo and they have a CMMG upper for $579 that I am interested in but wanted to hear some opinions first. Anyone have a CMMG upper? I would like one threaded 1/2 x 28 for use with a suppressor. Thanks in advance.

This is where I bought mine. Good guys to deal with.
  5. I have been looking for a 9mm 5" pro for a while now...those things are hard to find!

I believe the Spartan is the only model that isn't completely made in Texas. They outsource the frame and slide but the internals are Texas products. I just really wasn't impressed with it. I actually just ordered a Kimber stainless in 9mm to give it a try. I've personally had great success with Kimber products and hope this gun will be no different. I will update with a range report when she arrives.

The only experience I've had with STI was negative. I bought a 5" spartan in 9mm and was plagued with many issues. I finally gave up on it and sold it. I know it is their lesser model made in the phillipines but I expected more from it. Not having a ramped barrel and being chambered in 9mm probably had something to do with it. With that said, I would like to try the Trojan in 9mm at some point.
  8. Very possible. I know every manufacturer produces lemons but it tends to leave a sour taste in your mouth for that particular brand. Sadly it is the only Walther I have had the opportunity to shoot.
  9. Yes, but my dealer charges $100 for NFA transfers + about $500 for the sparrow + stamp....$800 for a .22 suppressor did not appeal to me. I got the Outback for 325 + stamp. I feel like it was the best performer for the price at my local dealer. Edit-I wish I had the tooling to produce one of my own. Do you mind posting a pic of yours? I would like to see it.
  10. My brother owned one several years ago. I shot it a few times and found it to be the most inaccurate pistol either of us has owned. Both of us are experienced pistol shooters and we couldn't hit anything with it. He sold it after a few range trips.
  11. Ok, thank you. Yes I've read that the sparrow is the "best" to get but noone around here is a dealer for silencerco. The only other options I had were some YHM products. Everything I have read rates the Outback quite a bit above the YHM line. The only thing I don't like is that it is rated for .22lr only. I dont own a .17 or .22 mag but it would be nice to be able to use it on one should I purchase one in the future.
  12. Where did you get that information? I am wondering what the numbers are for Arkansas. I know we only have one examiner for the entire state now. I'm about to send off another form 4 for a Gemtech Outback IId. I figured I needed a .22 suppressor to compliment the .45 can. Also I wanted to send it off before the wait times become a year or more, haha. Anyone have experience with the outback line from Gemtech? It is now user serviceable (which was a must for me) and is super light.
  13. Ive used Apex and speed shooter specialties and am happy with both.
  14. Forms/check delivered March 8. Went pending March 29. Will update in about 6 months when I get it, haha.
  15. How quick do they usually ship? Thinking about trying some of their boolits.
  16. Very nice. I like that finish.
  17. I have an M&P9 and have been very pleased with it. I added an APEX trigger kit to see what all the hype was about and it really brings the pistol to life IMO. Definitely worth the price if you have a few extra bucks to spare.
  18. M&P is worth $140 more IMO, but differences in opinion are what make the world go 'round right? I would be slightly concerned that parts availability on discontinued models may be an issue in the future should you need something.
  19. Ok thank you sir. I went with the TiRant .45 to go on a host M&P. I may also fit a storm lake barrel on my 1911 later. I'm actually an AR resident so I purchased the can at a central AR dealer. I guess the examiner you listed covers TN? Or do they cover larger regions?
  20. How long should it take to go pending? Check was cashed about 8 days ago. I have yet to call...just wondering.
  21. 200 flawless rounds through mine. It is very accurate for such a small gun and pleasant to shoot IMO.
  22. Delivery of my forms to the ATF was confirmed yesterday so I'll be next in line.
  23. 92 yards freehand one-handed with my kimber 1911 shooting handloads at a 10"x10" steel plate. I actually have that shot on video for proof. I shoot that same plate at 100yds two-handed quite a bit. Ive never tried any distance greater than that but I guess I need to!
  24. Ill be there this weekend if you make it out. I can show you where to go/who to talk to for a safety chat. Ive only shot at MSSA twice but it is a blast and plan on attending as many matches as possible. Shoot me a PM if you want...names Matt.
