  1. I also recommend the ShootingtheBull410 video series on YouTube. I believe he found that many .380 SD rounds did not expand when fired out of a short barrel, and the ones that did generally used the Hornady XTP bullet.
  2. if i remember right, in past years funding for breast cancer research was a cause celebre for feminists, who thought that patriarchal society was dragging its feet and letting women die out of plain misogyny. i think that even today that idea has a small effect: the tone of the fund-raising and public-service campaigns always feels slightly "activist" to me. anyway, it's a free country; people will pick the cancers they care most about.
  3. i thought i'd tap into the collective knowledge here: i'm looking for a small bag or pouch to take into the water at the lake. i'd want it to be able to hold keys, wallet, cellphone, and P3AT. for example- http://www.amazon.com/Overboard-1050B-Over-Board-Pro-Sport-Belt/dp/B005HB9JP4 this one would probably work, but i have an irrational dread of anything that resembles a fanny pack. i had imagined a small bag that i could alternately hold in my hand, tie to my wrist with a lanyard and allow to float, and stuff in my bathingsuit pocket if i needed two free hands. interior padding would be great because i plan to jump into the water with it from modestly high cliffs and bridges. if anyone has suggestions i'd love to hear them. p.s. i'm thinking that it would be safe to jump 30-40 ft into water with a magazine of 380 acp rounds. that is, i don't think the shock could somehow set off the primers. if any wiser heads want to weigh in that would be great too.
  4. Hey guys, thanks for the great response. I talked to Shooters Edge, and it looks like the guys there will let me try out their personal pf-9/lc9. I'll probably give that Taurus Slim 709 on their rental list a try, too.
  5. Hey everybody. I was originally thinking about getting a PF-9 for CC because of the price and dimensions. The more I look, though, the more possibilities I see. Now I want to test out at least the PF9, LC9, and XD subcompact before I decide. Are there any places in or near the Tri-cities area that would have one of these or at least something similar as a range gun? I know Coal Creek has the CM9, and I'll probably stop by the next time I'm in Knoxville, even though I don't really want a Kahr. If there are no stores, I might end up begging locals to meet me at a range for a test fire. But I'll save that for another thread. I wouldn't stress over this so much, but it seems that little factors in the design of this kind of pistol can make or break the gun for people, and there's no way to know for sure until you've fired it.
