  1. I have one that looks horrible to the point that I can't even make out what it originally was, it's about 8 years old.  Drunken mistake, thankfully it is hidden if I'm wearing a t shirt.  I have nothing against them, just not for me.  I've seen several references in this thread about people with tattoos and prioritizing their expenses.  My wife and I were talking about that just the other day.  We were swimming in Monroe County and noticed that most everyone in the river had lots of tattoos, and not many teeth, no offense to anyone from Monroe County.  I just can't figure being in your twenties and spending money on tattoos (okay most didn't look like they had spent very much) but not spending money to keep your teeth.
  2. Peanut butter sandwich and a bottle of water for me today.  I'm always busy on Saturdays and don't have time to cook.  Never cared for PB&Js, nothing against jelly I just don't like it on my peanut butter.  Most weekdays I cook of reheat food on the manifold of my car.  I've actually come up with some pretty good stuff.
  3. Slightly odd that a National Park Service ranger is arresting him.  Maybe Freedom Plaza is a National Park?
  4. I highly recommend Bennett's Barbecue for Breakfast, lunch, and supper.  Best breakfast in Gatlinburg IMO.  Another fun and inexpensive activity is river tubing in Townsend.
  5. This is my turf.  Lots of stuff to do, less so with small children.  Clingman's Dome, Newfound Gap, and go over to Cherokee and watch the elk makes for a good family day.  A trip around Cades Cove is a must with the family.  I highly suggest getting there early (7-8 preferably) before the traffic.  The gates open at 7 except for Wednesdays and Saturdays when it opens at 10.  Ober Gatlinburg has a lot of family activities (they also prohibit carry.)  The strip in Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville for that matter is a tourist trap, the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg is pretty neat though.  You could spend weeks in the park if that is your kind of thing, tons of history in the area if you like that kind of thing.  This is off the top of my head, feel free to ask me any other questions.  BTW several GSMNP campgrounds are currently closed, check the park's website to make sure the campground you want is open.
  6. Nope wasn't me.    On another note a friend scored 500 rounds of 9mm from the Tazewell Walmart the other day.
  7. I asked a LEO friend to run numbers for me once.  He agreed to do it but said that if the gun was stolen I would have to give it to him.  The gun in question belonged to a friend who suspected that it was stolen and was willing to turn it over if it was, it just so happened to be clean.  I had a Bersa stolen from me a number of years ago in Wilson County.  It took 3 years but I got a call one day that they had recovered it.  The detective was great to work with.  It had been recovered in a traffic stop in Davidson County.  They had had it in evidence for about a year, I was just glad to get it back in functioning condition.  Man was that thing dirty, I would estimate literally thousands of rounds had been fired though it.  I just wish I could have figured out who stole it from me because I know it was someone that I knew.
  8. There was a thread here not too long ago about ATF agents visiting FFLs and downloading the 4473's onto a thumb drive and taking the files with them to look at later instead of there at the FFL like they should.  Seems that there is a lot of stories floating around of late about ATF agents (AKA the government) doing what ever they want with complete disregard to the law.  Someone needs to be held accountable.
  9. Cumberland Mountain Riders Association in Winchester, I think there is about 17,000 acres out there.   http://www.cmrariders.com/
  10. I heard this morning that Hernandez jerseys are going for thousands of dollars on Ebay.  It makes me sick to live in a world with people who would pay that much for something like that.
  11. Good find, thanks for sharing!
  12. Didn't see the story but if I had to leave my gun in my vehicle I wouldn't want other people to know that it was there.
  13. As a former Cookevillian I can't say that this exactly spoiled my morning.  Tommy Burks death was a very sad time in Tennessee. http://www.wbir.com/news/article/278315/2/Victims-friend-Good-riddance-to-convicted-killer-Byron-Looper
  14. I picked up 100 rounds of Winchester .40 at Walmart on Thursday evening.  Clerk said that it had sat in the case since the previous evening.  They also had Federal 9mm SD loads, about 3 boxes of them, which I had seen in stock a couple of weeks ago as well.  A friend came across a bulk pack of 9s and 40s at his Walmart yesterday.  Then this morning I got an email from Cabela's informing me that the 1000 rounds of .22 that I ordered about 2 months ago was in stock and had already been shipped.  Looks like things are finally coming around.  The .40 that I bought the other day was the first ammo I had purchased since December as I have refused to pay more than retail.
  15. Got my notice this morning, they should be here tomorrow.  I feel like Ralphie on Christmas Eve!
  16. Am I the only one that's life has not changed, nor have I missed Twinkies one bit since they stopped making them?  For those of you who have missed them I'm glad you are getting them back!
  17. I kept my Ruger Standard in a bank box for a while as it is an heirloom with great sentimental value to me.  Not sure the size of the box.
  18. I think all Ruger Mark owners have been down this road.  I have a Ruger Standard, same deal.  It doesn't run right when it is dirty so I keep it pretty clean.  I've reassembled it successfully numerous times but usually have to look to Youtube because I forget how to do it.
  19. That would be great as a fire starter.  I found a way that I will do it for now on when I am car camping.  Last time I was camping I built a small fire with charcoal to cook some brats on.  After I was done eating I started placing small sticks on top of the charcoal.  This was Memorial Day weekend and it had been raining all week.  I had a really nice fire that night that would have been very difficult to start using conventional methods.

    44mm Glock

It's obvious that these journalists don't know what they are talking about but did it ever cross their mind that they would be much more credible and not look like such idiots if they would just report what they knew if they don't know the specifics?  I'd rather hear them say "A glock handgun" than a 44mm Glock."  If I hear "Glock handgun" I have no reason to find that suspect other than it came from the media, but when I hear "44mm Glock handgun" I know they are full of it.
  21. I saw one at the Maryville Walmart the other day.  Made me feel warm and fuzzy!
  22. It's almost certain that there is a school policy against it.  Although you may not be arrested you could very well be expelled.  College tuition isn't cheap, and they don't give refunds when you are expelled.  Don't take the chance.
  23. Why would someone take a decision as serious as carrying a firearm so lightly?  Did she drop out of school because she turned 18 because that was all that was required?  Does she only consume 2000 calories per day because that is all her body requires?  Does she live in a hut with no electricity or running water because she is a bare minimalist?  I'm working with a lady in her 50's now who just got her first carry gun, she hasn't gotten to shoot it yet since she can't find any ammo but she will not carry it until I have worked with her and she feels confident about it.  To take something this serious so lightly is absurd.  I hope to God she didn't buy any bullets for the gun.
