  1. I've spotted two liars on TGO this morning alone.  Not lying about anything that really matters, seems they just want some attention I guess.  Still don't get why people feel a need to lie on the internet to feel important.
  2. That's neat, I've never gotten the chance to hunt quail but always wanted to.  I find it ironic that when my grandparents were growing up they hunted quail all of the time but rarely, if ever, saw a deer.  I've killed more deer than I can count but I've never shot at a quail.
  3. I spent 2 winters heating my house solely with wood.  I cut and split every bit of it myself, the first year I split it all by hand as well.  Never got a good saw, just used a cheap Poulan and wore it out.  I enjoyed the work, being out in the woods, running the saw, even the back breaking hauling, and stacking.  I enjoyed the fires as well.  I've since moved and no longer have a fireplace.  I miss it like crazy, I feel like a cheating yuppy flipping a switch for heat.
  4. Yep, with his blatant record of poaching and hunting out of season I wouldn't be surprised if he has ever possessed a license.
  5. Back about 10 years ago when it seemed that it was a lot more popular to buy cars off of E-bay my family bought a few.  I think that was before gas got really expensive and it wasn't that big of a deal to fly 1000 miles away and drive your new car back.  My brother bought a truck that was about 10 years old.  Looked good in the pics and my brother asked the dealer if it had any rust to which the dealer replied none.  So my brother flies up to Connecticut gets off the plane and the dealer meets him outside of the airport with the truck.  First thing that went wrong was that brother had already had a check made for the winning price of the auction, the dealer told him that there was a non negotiable $300 doc fee which had not been listed in the auction.  Upon walking around the truck he fond rust completely through in both rear fender wells.  When he asked the dealer about he just replied "We wouldn't call that rust here in Connecticut."  Basically my brother told him that he wasn't paying the doc fee but would still take the truck at the auction price, or he would go buy another plane ticket home.  He drove the truck home.
  6. I know Andrew as well, great guy.  His place school is about 10 minutes from me.
  7. A friend of mine got into them big a few months ago and it's become a hobby to him, he even builds them now.  I don't know a whole lot about them, my buddy, like Tanker, has said that if you are going to get one get a good one.  To second Tanker again there is no tar in the vapor.
  8. I used to hunt the far west part of the state, IMO you want a rifle that can reach out a bit.  Can't go wrong with a .270 or 30-06 because they do the job well and if you can find ammo for anything you can find ammo for those two.  This is only my opinion but I would stay away from the Remington 770s, a friend has 2 and thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread, that tells me that he has never picked up another bolt action rifle.  The actions on these rifles are very rough.  The actions on my 91/30s are much smoother and I gave $70 for those.
  9. Why would you use a 50 Beowulf for middle Tennessee deer under 125 yards?  A little overkill is it not?
  10. All I'm getting right now is Guns and Ammo, which if I were paying for I really wouldn't bother with, I get it as a gift subscription.  I mean who really needs another review on a 1911 or an AR-15?  I've found that most gun mags have a strong bias towards which ever manufacter sent them samples that month, so I don't really find them credible.  I used to get Field and Stream and Outdoor Life and enjoyed both.  I got TN Wildlife as well and it was good.
  11. Thank you I will be posting some submissions for sure.
  12. I've wanted one of those for years.  Looks like a lot of fun.
  13. So the Wally World employees DO have a line on .22!
  14. You can shoot 30 eyes out with that thing without reloading!

Shameless plug.  I have my old camera posted in the TGO classifieds.  It's more camera than most need, but I'm willing to wheel and deal on it. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/73748-canon-1d-mark-iii/

I do a good bit of low light photography. Of course a tripod is essential to taking longer exposure pictures, but also use a timed shutter release as well. Most cameras have one built in. Unless it is really dark I usually just use a 2 second delay, but I'm using a very stable tripod. Otherwise I will use a 10 second delay. The purpose of doing this is to eliminate shake will pressing the shutter button.
  17. This is second hand information so I can not guarantee its accuracy, but the person that it comes from I consider dependable.  A salaried manager of the Madisonville, TN Walmart was selling most if not all ammo under the table to a local gun shop before it ever hit the shelves.  The prices on the ammo at the LGS that was getting all of the Walmart ammo was not even close to fair (I think around $10 for a box of 50 .22s)  Supposedly the GM was exposed and this is no longer a problem.  Still haven't seen any .22 over there though.  Actually everywhere I've talked to claims they are not even getting any .22 currently.
  18. I just wanted to caution you in case you were possibly considering satellite.  Don't do it.  Satellite is a last resort.  They know they have you by the short and curlies when you sign up.  Service is horrible as is the customer service.  I had it for a while as it was my only option.  It was better than nothing but I'd get dial up (which was not an option where I was) before I would do satellite again.
  19. Look at the bright side guys, pretty soon it will be as economical to shoot .45 as it is .22.  Sometimes thinking like a liberal makes you feel better even if nothing is really achieved.  kinda like peeing on yourself.
  20. 1)  12G pump with 28" smooth bore barrel, 18" barrel, and a slug barrel. 2)  Good .22 rifle 2)  Large bolt rifle, .270 for me. 3)  Woods gun, 30-30 for me. 4)  .22 pistol or revolver 5)  High capacity semi auto hand gun.  6)  Small handgun for concealment. 7)  1911 8)  Battle rifle of choice 9)  Ma Deuce so I'll get invited to all of the TGO shoots. 10) 91/30 because you can't really call yourself a gun owner if you don't have one.
  21. In my experience Comcast is quick to set up a new account, after our move this year we had service within 2 days of calling them and letting them know we were moving.  Then a couple of months ago I accidentally ran an auger through the cable, it took them 5 days to fix that, I was not happy.
  22. They all look like AR47s and Glocks to me :hiding:
  23.   Dave, I thought of you ad your home made boar bacon while I making it and was thinking that was the only thing that could make it better.  Almost sacrilegious for me to mix good deer meat with store bought commercial garbage.  Once you figure out how to weave it it's not that complicated, took me about 10 minutes from start to finish to figure it out.
  24. I just can't justify spending that much on an impulse purchase.
