  1. I like those corner shelves too.  I have to live in the worst designed house built in this century.  Among other things there is zero usable corners in my garage.
  2. Any cop who would think that it is even okay to fake this doesn't deserve to hold the title.  That shows a serious lack of judgement.
  3. Everyone has a purpose in life, for some the highest purpose that they will ever serve is acting as fertilizer, for the rest of us they can't serve their purpose soon enough.
  4. I'm getting ready to build some benches.  Been in my place for 10 months and I'm just getting around to it.  I acquired a reloading set up Christmas of 2012 that has yet to get out of the box, partially because I don't have a place to set it up.  I'm thinking a 2 bench set up like many I see here.  I want one bench solely for reloading and other gun use and I want another for putting junk on, I mean everything else.  Doesn't look like the reloading bench needs to be exceptionally sturdy but I would like the other bench to be substantial to where I can beat the tar out of things on it with a 2 1/2 pound sledge and put objects in the vise and crank on them with a 6 foot cheater bar without yanking the workbench all over the garage.  I remember my grandfather building workbenches out of lanes from an old bowling alley, they were nice and heavy and solid.  I may know where I can pick some up too!
  5. Another recent quitter here.  After 13 years of use I had decided that my dip was something that I could enjoy for myself and I was done trying to quit.  My wife schedules a dentist appointment for me.  I figure they are going to tell me I need to quit and whatnot, but I wasn't going to give it up.  Basically they scared me into quitting.  Told me I was a prime candidate to start loosing teeth within the next few years and I had some spots in my mouth that could easily turn to cancer.  After paying $300 out of pocket for some deep cleaning I decided maybe I would give quitting one more try.  I had bought a can that morning on the way to the dentist appointment, I finished that can on a road trip for my birthday that weekend.  As I was finishing that can, taking the last pinch I told myself to enjoy it because this would be the last one.  That was on my birthday Dec. 8 and I have bummed a dip exactly twice.  For some reason it wasn't even hard this time, which was surprising because I completely went cold turkey.  I have used nicotine lozenges successfully in the past though.  I just held them in my lip like a dip, as the cravings became less I replaced the lozenge with hard candy.
  6. I have had a 642 for years.  Not crazy about it but it serves a purpose.  It was my EDC for years but I swapped it out for a Glock for a couple of reasons.  1) It doesn't make sense for me to belt carry a gun this small, so I pocket carried it.  One day I realized how difficult pocket carry was to deploy and I decided to get away from it and go for belt carry.  Now I usually carry a Glock of some variety.  2) Small caliber and small capacity.  Not to start a caliber war here but I wanted to carry something larger with more capacity.  I also prefer to carry something that is adequate for taking down an animal if need be.  As long as you are comfortable being limited to 5 rounds and .38 then there is nothing wrong with it.     That said I mostly use this as a deep concealment gun.   I personally like the LCRs over the 642, but that is just my opinion.  The LCR seems to have a much better trigger.
  7. I'm really wanting a carbine now.  Maybe a .45?
  8. I think it's as cool as all get out, no way I'd carry it though.  Coffee table piece all the way.
  9. I like the concept but IMO it should be about $40 cheaper.  I see no point in paying $80-100 for a DIY setup when polymer lowers have been going for as low as $50-75 lately.  Unless you are reading into avoiding 4473 forms then I don't see the point.
  10. I saw a commemorative 870 in a magazine the other day for around $1900.  Does anyone actually buy these things?  I just prefer guns that I can actually use myself.
  11. Might have to give it a try, usually about the time I get  respectable beard going I cut it off because I'm tired of listening to the wife whine at that point.  I've got a pretty good amount of growth going now and I'm vowing to not cut it until we see 70+ degrees so I'm thinking it might get some decent growth.
  12. What is the quickest way to find the outcome of the vote on this bill?
  13. I would bet my paycheck they had a trunk full of Kirby vacuum cleaners.  They got my parents 25 years ago.  Salesman got dropped off at my parents rural house and his boss wouldn't pick him up until he made the sale.  I'm less compassionate, I believe I would have given him a long walk to think about life.

    great day

Hmm in the past week this user has started threads about 1) A ND in his home.  (This thread) 2) Being mysteriously tailgated by a cop. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75306-tail-gating/ 3) Comptemplated illegally carrying a handgun. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75281-carry-question/ and 4) His car being mysteriously damaged while drinking moonshine http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75212-not-paing-attention/   I find these threads entertaining because this stuff isn't happening to me and I live far enough away from him to not be concerned with wayward bullets coming from his house or his drunken "friends" crashing his car into my stuff.  This dude is either a) a troll, b) So bad at making decisions that he should run on the democratic presidential ticket in 2016.  Or c) the unluckiest person to ever walk the face of the earth.    Seriously, RC3 if you are truly just a guy that is having a bad run of luck and making some less than good decisions, please for the sake of you and all of those around you, sit back contemplate your direction in life.  Ask yourself "is this a good idea?" and ask yourself that question often.  Seriously evaluate the people you are hanging out with.  Sometimes you need to cut some of the people in your life out for your own sake.  The things that you do over the next couple of years are going to determine what the rest of your life is going to be like, make wise choices!

    great day

    Once again, FIND NEW FRIENDS!!!
  16. I agree with all of that, just figured I'd be preaching to the choir talking about keeping guns away from kids here.  You are correct in assuming that they will figure 15-18 year old gang bangers into their figures as well.   My 4 year old gets a dollar if she finds an unsecured gun in our house and tells an adult.  We've tested her (unloaded gun with our direct presence and supervision,) though I'd never give her access to a gun at her age I feel confident she will do the right thing if she finds a gun.  Heck, she has a rubber band gun that she practices better muzzle discipline with than 1/2 of the guys I see at the range.  I find it ironic that my toddler who has been raised around guns would be much safer in that scenario than a kid who has been shielded from "evil guns" their entire life.
  17. Seems to me that these guys are just your run of the mill ornery old farts.  We all know the kind.  They know everything, they are always right, they are experts on everything guns included, they can do things that they balk at anyone else for doing.  Most have plenty of money, more than they will ever spend but they seem to get some kind of thrill out of making a few bucks on this ammo just because they can.  Ammo scalping gets them out of the house and away from their nagging wives for a few hours.  Let's buy these geezers some golf clubs and one way tickets to Florida and we can have our ammo back!
  18. It will be biased no doubt, I saw something about it this morning that claimed that "guns kill over 7000 children per year."  Yes, it was the guns and not the people pulling the trigger.  It's all about sensationalism, if you really want to protect the children ban the bicycles and swimming pools, which claim far more children each year than guns.
  19. Emails sent, sure do hope this passes, for several reasons, including because it's something that a bunch of our liberal leader (including Haslam) don't support.
  20. Is it still up?  I looked and couldn't find it, please post a link if you know where it is.
  21. Hope the OP doesn't mind I put this on armslist.  We'll see how long it stays up.
  22. Only slightly related...   There is a place that I like to fish here locally that has some hiking trails as well.  I decide to go fishing last week, as I pull up to the parking lot I see about 3 other vehicles so I'm immediately thinking "Oh man, I'm going to have to share the creek."  Upon closer inspection all three are Subarus and Volkswagons and have either NPR, Obama, or Sierra Club stickers which gave them away as hikers and not fishermen, sure enough the only fishing pole I saw all afternoon was the one in my hand.
  23. I got up in some mountain creeks on Monday afternoon and was hoping to get a couple of trout.  I know they are there but after about May the tourists make them much harder to catch.  I was hoping I would get lucky in the off season but no such luck.  After getting into trout and smallmouth I no longer have a desire to fish for those fat lazy largemouth.
