  1.   I know this is the world we live in, if I make it to say 90 I might go finance me a fancy bass boat for 15 years. I'm sorry but that is nothing but stupid.  Besides I like aluminim boats I can actually fish out of and bang around on rocks and logs because that seems to be where the big fish are anyways.
  2. I guess that explains why I got that letter in the mail from Comcrap the other day offering me a free modem upgrade.  On a related note is there any tinfoil left at the grocery store or did you guys buy it all up?
  3. Live traps are pretty easy to be successful with but...  If you plan to release them else where after catching them plan on driving for a while.  I've heard you need to go as far as 40 miles and I've personally seen them show back up after taking them 10 miles.
  4. Awesome bikes, and you don't need the car now.  I ty to do most of my traveling by bike.  I find it much more enjoyable and even comfortable to travel by bike than car.  If you are going to get serious about it you will have to drop some money on high quality gear.  It hurts the wallet but the stuff they have out today is so good that I have ridden hundreds of miles below freezing and in pouring rain for hours and been completey comfortable.
  5. I just picked a TCP up today for $150.  Never cared much for Tauruses and you can find that in previous posts on this forum.  I'm convinced that there are good Tauruses and bad Tauruses and I bought mine knowing that it is a good one because it came from a trusted friend.  I really do like the trigger pull on it.  I knew another guy who had one and he had a lot of problems out of it.  Much like the OP until today Taurus was on my do no buy list.
  6. Nah, you're in Tennessee now, no need to keep trailer lights in working order, turn signals are optional as well.  :taunt:
  7. I wouldn't like it, I wouldn't do it, personally I wouldn't feel comfortable around that sort of thing.  However, I say to each his own.  The reward doesn't seem worth the risk to me, but we all do our own things.  I've done things in other hobbies that many people would just shake their heads at.
  8. I've bought and sold many motorcycles over the years.  No title is a usually a deal breaker for me, but...  There is a loophole, The State of Tennessee will issue you a title if the fair market value of your vehicle is less than $3,000.  Haven't tried it yet but know a couple of people who have successfully.  Sounds like just what you need!  Does go without saying though, proceed with extreme caution when a title is missing.  Here is the form  https://www.tn.gov/revenue/forms/titlereg/f1310401Fill-in.pdf
  9. Dang old Shelby County skewing the scale again.

    Advice needed

Sounds like you pretty much have it down.  Look on the airlines website for specific information.  IIRC you can pack ammo in your luggage again but check for yourself, don't take my word on it.  If I were you I would print out the airlines poicies and carry them with you when you arrive for your flight, just in case you have any problems.  I'd think it goes without saying but you do have to declare your firearm when you check the baggage.  Also I believe the gun has to be in a locked container inside your luggage, to which you have the key
  11.   I think it's just redundancy for staying safe and a matter of being prepared.  Same reason I keep a fire extinguisher in my kitchen.  I don't plan on their being a fire but if there is one I want to be prepared.    I get what the others are saying though. it's kind of like "Just because I carry a gun doesn't mean I'm going to walk the dark alleys in the bad part of town at 2 a.m."
  12. I'm not saying thatI have all the answers but I think that what I do works well.  I carry most everywhere I go, if I open carry I do so in a place where it's not gong to get people riled up.  If a business is not posted, yet not known to be a progun establishment I conceal.  It's working, I can carry almost everywhere I need to go and the soccer moms don't all excited at the grocery store because they don't know there is a gun 4 feet away from them.  Their ignoranc is bliss for us both.
  13. I stuck on over the air antenae uo one one of the existing dish masts that were here when I moved in a couple of weeks ago.  Thought that I'd be really slick and rn it straight to the living room TV via the cables that Comcast had run into my house.  I have no idea why but it is a 4 into 1 splitter.  If you disconnect 2 of the cables the internet will not work.  Not sure what's going on but my attempt at getting some free TV has failed.
  14. I put an Obama sticker on my car, that way everyone knows I'm broke.
  15. I lived in Cookeville from 2004-2008 I would routinely see red foxes in town.  They were extremely docile, I've even seen idiots hand feeding them.
  16. Had a bundled package with Comcast.  After a little over a year our rate went up about $20 per month.  A few months later a bill arrived and it was $80 more than usual.  They said that they would be charging us $40 a month per DVR for now on.  We turned the DVRs back in but they wouldn't give us cable boxes without DVRs so now we don't have any TV and are paying the same price as when we did but we still have internet and phone.  I enjoyed the TV but honestly I don't miss it much.  I really hate Comcast but there are no alternatives here.   I've had lots of problems streaming Netflix content in HD to my laptop.  I've tried different laptops and different operating systems as well and had problems on all of them on this connection.  Specifically the video and audio get out of synch.  Not sure weather or not this is the "Netflix issue" that you are reffering to.  Switch the broadcast to SD and it works fine.  I use an Android tablet and a Chromecast to watch Netflix on my TV and it works fine, even in HD.
  17.   Another former Walmart employee who approves.  I say that a different set of rules apply to Walmart.
  18.   No. No. and No!  Tires do not make a safe backstop.  High risk of richochet.
  19. This is just my take, and as the OP requested, my opinion, and just my experience and opinion.    1)  For a casual user I see no plus to an ipad over an Android tablet, at least not enough to justify the expense.  The Android will do most everything the ipad will for 1/3 to 1/4 of the price of a comparable Apple product.    2)  I picked up a Toshiba tablet a couple of years ago I believe it has a 10" screen which is big for a tablet but honestly I don't want to be squniting to see it.  Personally, I don't have a smart phone but most people do.  No sense in having a small pad that does the same thing as your small phone, get a pad big enough to easily see.   3)  I don't use my pad near as much as I thought that I would.  I fiqured my laptop would hardly get used once I got my pad but I don't like using the pad for much more than traveling, streaming content to my TV, and playing a few games that I've downloaded to keep my mind sharp.  One of the reasons that I bought it was to take on long motorcycle trips instead of my computer.  I've since bought another laptop with a 13" screen that is so small and does so much more than the pad that it now goes on motorcycle trips instead of the pad.
  20. Always enjoyed fishing though I don't get to do it as much as I'd like these days.  I was a pretty serious catfisherman at one time.  Got pretty serious into the bass game at one time, though I never had any interest in tournament fishing.  When I get to fish these days it's either bream fishing with my 4 year old daughter or if I get time to go by myself it's smallies and trout.
  21. This post reeks of coolness...   Cool kid Cool dad Cool teacher Cool school Cool crossbow   WIN!
  22. Nope, not here, not even with small children in the house.  If you need your gun you need it now.  Not after you disable 976 safety features to get it into action.  Even with a almost 5 year old who has shown nothing but responsibility towards guns a gun in our house is either being worn, in the safe, or on top of our very tall dresser.  No if, ands, or buts.  Been doing it this way since she was big eough to grab things and it's worked fine.
  23. That'swhat I was thinking.  I've seen ground hogs go 30+ pounds, our rat terrier is 14 pounds.  And ground hogs are mean!
  24. Walmart is not pro gun, don't be fooled, they are pro money, that is all they care about.
  25. Take this for what it's worth from a guy who has been fishing since he was in diapers.  It's easier to buy an ultralight rod than it is to catch trophy sized fish, but with a little rod all the fish feel like lunkers.
