  1. Got the kid out of bed early this morning and went out in search of snow. None at our house but a half hour drive into the mountains netted us plenty. This was in Blount County. I've heard reports that Mt. LeConte got a record 16 inches last night.
  2. That's exactly what I was thinking when I read the title.
  3. I first read about this young lady a couple of months ago and have thought about her often.  Saddest damned thing I've hard in a long time.
  4. Cows are dangerous killers. Anyone wanting to own one of those horrible things should have to pass a background check and register it. We have to do this for the children.
  5. I'll just leave this here  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/79966-papa-johns/?hl=%2Bpapa+%2Bjohns                                                                                                                   And this over here  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/80390-papa-johns-mt-juliet/?hl=%2Bpapa+%2Bjohns
  6. It hasn't even been hot this summer.  We only had a handful of days get past 90.  The hunidity on the other hand was the worst of any summer that I remember.
  7. Move to a neighborhood with a good HOA, problem solved.
  8. You guys need to step away from the TV and get outside :p
  9. Seems like it is getting better.  And I agree with Frankmako completely I hope the gougers have to eat it and choke on it when they do.  I wonder if these gun shops that gouge realize that they loose business because of this.  Case in point, a few weeks ago the wife and I were on a little road trip and stopped in at a well known gun shop that I won't say the name of but it is in Benton, Tennessee.  I was just planning on doing a little browsing, checking to see if they did have .22 ammo in stock, and picking up a holster for a gun that I had just acquired.  Well they did have some .22 in stock 525 (I think) boxes of Remington Thunderbolt, which was priced at $70 or $75 a box, can't remember exactly.  In protest  refused to buy the holster that I was going after.  And, because I'm stubborn I'll probably never cross their threshold again.
  10.   MOST people I've seen at the range with super high dollar guns who are running their mouth had a hard time keeping their shots on the paper and not shooting up the target stands.  After all, a gun can only be as good as the person shooting it.    What bugs me?  I saw a laser for a Hi Point the other day.  Nothing wrong with Hi Points, but if all I could afford was a Hi Point then when I got the money to put a laser on it the Hi Point would be going bye bye for something better.  Never got the laser thing anyway, I've tried them just not my hing.    These days this recent influx of uneducated know it alls in the gun community bothers me more than any silly gun mod.  :Tangent: that's another thing that I really like about TGO, this community has so much good information to offer, hard to find in the gun world these days.
  11. I've moved into a couple of houses with this problem.  Paint now, don't wait, it will be much easier without stuff in the house.  Then shampoo all of the carpets.  Keep the doors and windows open for a couple of days when the weather is nice as well.
  12. I try to work OT when I can and then work a short week every now and then when I have some money in the bank and can enjoy myself.
  13. I need a whole assault drum clip of those.
  14. It's almost like a pathetic game to see who can get the farthest.  My guess is that if anyone ever makes it out the other side we will never hear about it.
  15. I acquired a .45 muzzleloader the other day and can't seem to find any bullets for it.  Seems the .45 has gone the way of the dodo and everybody shoots .50 now.  Walmart doesn't carry them and Dick's didn't have them in stock.  I'd check Gouger Mountain and Bass Pro but it's a pretty long drive for me just to check.  Anyone else using .45 and having trouble finding them?
  16. Yes, from my understanding once a rifle always a rifle but a pistol can go back and forth.
  17. I understand that if I want to build an AR-15 pistol from a stripped lower that I have to designate the lower as a pistol on the 4473.  Is that correct?  If so, if I buy a stripped lower in a FTF transaction is it automatically ineligible to be built as a pistol?  I have no interest in skirting the law as I have never seen a ATF agent with a sense of humor.  I just don't understand how if we don't have registration how I would prove that my AR-15 pistol was built legally.
  18. I've eaten it up to 3 years old.  I can't seem to kill enough deer to keep my family in deer through the year.  MAtter of fact I'm eating my last bit of deer from last year as I type this.  Hopefully muzzleloader season will be good to me.
  19. Do they come in colors other than pink?  They shouldn't. :yuck:
  20. I've probably fired more rounds in Wilson county than anywhere else.  Being out of the city limits is the first step but there are a lot places outside of city limits that still are not okay to shoot at.  Just use your common sense.  #1 question should be is it safe.  As long as it's a safe location ask yourself if you are disturbing anyone.  Maybe feel out the neighbors if you have any.  I've lived in places where I've had people close to where I was shooting and it was never a problem.  I just limited myself to shooting in the middle of the day when people were not home and kept my sessions short.  Sometimes this method works really well because neighbors can not get upset about what they don't know about.
  21. Lots of wind here but that's it so far.  Tonight and tomorrow will be interesting for sure.
  22. We all know better but I got complacent and broke a bunch of my own rules on this one.  For the past 10 years my EDC has been a Glock or a 642, both of which are going to function flawlessly 99.999% of the time.  Fire it, carry it around, throw it in the dirt, carry it around, clean it bi annually and it should be good to go, no worries.  I bought a Taurus TCP a few months back from a close friend.  (Buying a Taurus, first rule broken, which I don't regret.)  I've been carrying this gun around for say 4 or 5 months and honestly have not had a chance to shoot it.  (Not shooting a gun before carrying, second broken rule.)  Since I have not fired the gun I haven't cleaned it at all.  (Third rule broken)  The gun has spent most of the summer bouncing around in my work truck which is a very dusty, and dirty environment.    So finally last weekend I fired the gun and found it to be a complete jam-o-matic.  So I took it home gave it a through cleaning and polished the slide and the feed ramp.  Took it out yesterday and she ran like butter!  We all know that pocket guns are finicky but I have to forget the Glock mentality and make it a point to clean this gun at least once a month for now on.  The gun is actually a pleasure to shoot, it has a wonderful trigger and I was hitting cans every shot at 10 yards, not bad for a pocket gun at all.  I believe that there is no perfect carry gun, each one has its pros and cons but I'm very happy with this one.  Just have to make sure that it stays clean.   So people, please, if you haven't fired or cleaned your carry piece lately, take the time to do so.  It may save your life.
  23.   We protect it like a daughter.  Now, where is my shotgun?  I feel that my state has been violated...
  24. I don't know why anyone would want to move here. The winters are long and rough, the summers are long and sweltering got, and let's not even get started on the humidity. The mosquitoes are the size of birds and the ticks range in size from pinhead to tennis ball. Fire ants and rattle snakes are abundant. Fall and spring don't actually exist. Well, we usually do have that month of constant rain where everything floods just between the snow and those long summer days. So unless you are looking for all of this while being surrounded by gun toting country folk I wouldn't bother.
  25. Using a laser as a crutch until you get "trained up" is alarming. I'm not trying to be hateful but if you can't handle the gun without a laser on it you don't need to be handling the gun period.
