  1. Thanks, we will be fine.  I've always stashed money away in case something like this happens and all of our Christmas shopping is done.  I just see it as an opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons!
  2. Got laid off yesterday.  Going to spend a few days getting some projects done around the house to make the wife happy and then I'm going to head out for about a week of hunting!
  3. http://www.wbir.com/story/news/local/downtown-ut/2014/12/02/ferguson-protest-blocks-cumberland-avenue/19784235/   These Arsehats need to be fire hosed pepper sprayed and sent back to their government housing.
  4. I feel ya OP.  I've thought the same thing.  I bought a TCP as a backup but it has become my primary.  Previously my primary was a G23 or 27.  The flip side is that I carry it ALL the time.  Day to day I feel comfortable with the TCP and I actually shoot it rather well.  If I have to go somewhere shifty for work or I'm going on a roadtrip a Glock or 1911 will get to go with me.
  5. I had a Poulan that I bought refurbished and used for about 12 years, two of those years I was heading my v house soley with wood. It finally crapped out but I mite than got my monies worth out of it.
  6. Brains, I just can't bring myself to try them.
  7. I hunt a couple of WMAs that are scattered about the private land I hunt. I generally find that they are a really good option until gun season starts. One in particular that I hunt seems to be experiencing less traffic than usual this year so I thought that I would give it a go Friday afternoon. I pull on and there is one other truck in the parking lot. This particular parcel is about a 700 acre chunk of land. I still hunt, taking my time getting to my stand, all the while keeping a sharp eye out for this other hunter. I never saw him. I get to where I had intended to set up and was sitting for about 30 minutes when I heard what sounded like a moose closing in on me. Nope, not a moose, just Billy Ray Redneck, who wasn't wearing a such of orange by the way. Mind you, I'm wearing an orange vest and hat, sitting on top of a hill, actually I was standing, leaning up against the tree. Billy Ray proceeds to stomp through the field that I'm hunting and then down the fire road that comes into the field. At this point I figure I'm done and still not be seeing any deer during this hunt, but Billy Ray isn't done. About five minutes later he comes stomping back and sets up about 100 yards down the tree line from me. I whistle, he waves at me. Not an "oh I'm sorry didn't see you standing there" wave but more like a "very man, we picked the same place to hunt on this huge piece of land, isn't that so cool?" wave. I got up and went somewhere else and saw him leaving about 45 minutes before dark. I used to hunt WMAs a lot and have up on them because of stuff like this. I'm sure these Fudds leave a lot to be desired in the gun safety department as well. If I return to the WMA this year out will be with a child and a shotgun, going after squirrels.
  8. Between idiots on the WMAs and strong winds this weekend has been a wash do far for me. I sat out yesterday because it was so windy. Plus between all of the deer I killed last weekend I was up early and going to bed late all week working them up. I am fortunate to not have to hunt the WMA but it has proven to be successful in the past, especially on week days. I've had a great season and can't complain, if I get one or two more deer I'll have enough to get my family through until next season, but even with what I have now we won't have to buy much meat this year.
  9. I killed two this year with the powerbelts. I too was not impressed with bullet performance. One deer dropped in ours tracks, the other one ran over 300 yards. Both were lung shot. I will be switching to the Hornady (FTX?) next year.
  10. I feel the same way about these as I do about Mosins. When you could pick one up if you saved your lunch money for a week they were cool. Now you can buy a good gun for what these Russian pieces of junk cost.
  11. I have to vent a little here guys and I know that most of you can relate.  I go through this every year.  People expecting me to give them deer meat because I shot a deer.  I've gotten 5 so far this year.  Though that seems like a lot it will not last my family until next deer season.  If I can get 2 or 3 more I should be good.  I have a friend that helps me process a lot of the deer that I shoot and I give her whatever she wants and do it gladly because I'm very thankful for her help.  What bugs me are the people that don't want to come out and help with the skinning, quartering, deboning, and grinding, but want me to give them some deer meat, and they usually request the prime cuts.  I really think that most of the general population thinks "Oh he shot a deer, he's got more meat than he can ever use..."  I can't tell you how many people have told me that they will "take some tenderloin."  This deer meat is what I feed my family with throughout the year, none of these people asking for meat are hard up, most are better off financially than my family is.  If the shoe were on the other foot and I went to their house and just started raiding all of the chicken and beef out of their freezer I'm sure that wouldn't be cool.  If any of them were hungry it would be different and I'd willingly share, but that just isn't the case.    :RANT OFF:
  12. Educating that guy would be like trying to convince the sun not to rose in the morning.
  13. Just got my dad his first deer then I got one about 10 minutes later. Both were spikes and should eat well.
  14. If it was super comfortable to carry and functioned well I may be interested in one regardless of how it looks.  I have some pretty guns and I have some functional guns.  For a gun that will stayed hidden 100% of the time I could care less what it looks like.  That's why I own Glocks.   I will never see the point of adding a laser and/or light on a pocket sized .380 though and that alone would turn me off to it as it did the Bodygaurd.
  15. I've always been wary of most any of them.  I can make a passable grunt with my mouth and don't carry a grunt tube.  About the only time I use it is to get a deer to stop walking for a shot.  I've used some scents in the past, mostly some variation of doe estrous.  I also tried the Buck Bombs when they first came out and had good luck with them but when they got up to $10 each I stopped messing with them.  Never had any success with rattling antlers.  The old standby that I use is a doe bleat.  I have one of those cans that you just flip over and it bleats.  I've experimented using it from 1 to 3 times and every 15-45 minutes.  I've had does come straight to it from across a long field and during the rut I've had bucks come to it.     What have you used successfully and what is your method and intervals?
  16. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/83438-contain-your-jealousy/   You and Greycrait get on the range in the same day let the rest of us know.  I don't think I could personally stand to be around that much awesomeness at one time.
  17. Almost as ugly as that tactifool 30/30.
  18. I will say this just because I thought that it was funny.  My father in law was visiting and brought us the reusable basket for the Keurig.  I was getting ready to make my coffee to put in a thermos for work and he's going on about how quick he can use the Keurig to make a cup of coffee for me to go.  I usually make 8 cups because that is what the thermos holds.  While he is trying to make me a cup to go I go ahead and make 10 cups.  I was able to make a cup with the coffee maker before he did with the Keurig.
  19. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I believe that 3rd Generation Sub Compact Glocks did not have an accessory rail. So wouldn't this one just be a 3rd and not a 2.5?
  20. NASCAR is about as scripted as WWF.  When I want to see racing I watch Moto GP or Formula 1, besides both of those race in the rain and turn right occasionally.
  21. Wife has one.  It's okay if you only want 1 or 2 small cups of coffee each morning.  In the cooler months I prefer to take my Stanley thermos to work filled with coffee everyday.  Good luck brewing a quart of coffee with a Keurig.  I too use the reusable pods when I do use the Keurig.  Would not be worth having for my coffee drinking habits.
  22. Open carry a Hi Point?  These people have no pride.
