  1. Have you tried the BBQ grill paint and if so would you recommend the chalkboard paint over it?
  2. Probably a little less than an inch of snow on the ground and 22 with continued snow fall.
  3. I'll paint it black, put some tactical doodads on it and see what kind of uneducated comments I can get.
  4. I'm in the market for an American, my current rifle is a Mauser M96 in .270.  I'll never get rid of it, it is a fine rifle but it is heavy.  Looking at the Ruger in compact stainless .243, I think it will make for a very light and durable workhorse deer rifle.
  5. Had a bonehead moment today.  I have this muzzleloader that I honestly got taken for a ride on.  I paid $100 bucks for it thinking that it just needed a little cleaning.  I stripped it down and found that there was more rust in the barrel than originally thought.  I decided to put some naval jelly in the barrel (never have used the stuff.)  While it's soaking I decide to hit a few rusty spots on the outside of the barrel and low and behold the finish on my fine firearm disappeared before my very eyes.  I purely bought this gun to hunt with.  I really don't care that much how it looks.  It's 100% function on this one.  I'm thinking about maybe primer and BBQ grill paint.  Key here is what ever I do has to be cheap.  I already have about twice as much in this gun as I would really care to so something like Duracoat is out of the budget.  I'm not even 100% sure that the barrel is not damaged beyond the point that accuracy will be greatly affected.  I can see the lands and grooves fine but there is some pitting.  Thankfully I can just laugh at what ever the outcome may be on this one, worst case scenario I'm out $100 which isn't that bad in the gun world.  I'm just glad it was this gun and not something nice.
  6. Tripods are like carry guns.  The ones that work the best are big, heavy, and hard to carry, and the ones that are the most convenient to use don't give you the best results.
  7.   $47?  Looks like a pretty decent tripod for the money!  I may give it a try.
  8. All of my Fords and Chevy's had really good lighting under the hood.  Remember those old Chevy's that had the drop light built in under the hood?  Those were pretty cool.  Yeah, my Toyota doesn't have a light under the hood, and I haven't missed it a bit.  Can't even picture the engine in my head right now, but I could draw you a 302 with my eyes closed.
  9. I haven't put anything up in a few days so here are a few more...
  10. Those are some very nice pictures you've taken there.  I think it's safe to say that you have a knack for photography to say the least!   I battle with this too.  I'm using a low end Manfroto and I do not like it at all.  I'll be buying a decent one soon.  I really do believe that tripods are a "buy once, cry once" purchase.  Might as well go ahead and bite the bullet.  I'll be looking for something that is stable yet easily portable.  (I think that's what we are all looking for.)  I have put a $6,0000 rig on a tripod that I paid $3 for before.  I was in a pinch, but it worked for what I had to do right then.
  11. Makes a Desert Eagle look practical.  Still I'd shoot one!
  12. Well, he picked the right shirt to wear that day.
  13.   American manufacturers would have nothing on it but people would continue to buy the American trucks, even if they cost three times as much.  These people will undoubtedly be quick to tell you how proud they are of there "American" vehicle and how it will out perform that "Jap crap" even though it won't.  The American trucks will also not be as dependable as their Japanese counterparts.  Ironically Toyota is amongst the "most American" made trucks on the road, meaning that they source more of their parts from America than other companies, Ford rivals them on this but Dodge and Chevy aren't even close.
  14. AVG does not seem to be as good as it used to be.  They are always wanting you to download something else it seems.
  15. Small price to pay for what we get out of it.                                        PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Welcome to Tennessee.  We have a certain way of doing things here and for many of us our families have been doing it that way here, for generations.  We don't really care how you did it back where ever you came from.  In case you threw your map away when you got here, I'll happily remind you that interstates 40,24,65,75,81, and 26 will get you back to where you came from or a at least headed that way.  You can check http://maps.google.com for more detailed information concerning your route.
  16. I'm right hand left eye dominant, as well.  Usually I shoot a rifle right hand, right eye, but this might not be an option for your son.  I can also shoot left handed.  I got pretty sufficient shooting left handed back when I shot a lot more.  It can be done and comfortably.  It's important for shooters, especially hunters to be able to shoot off of either shoulder if physically able.  This past muzzle loader season a deer approached me from my right, I would have had to pivot my body 90 degrees to get a shot, instead I simply decided to take a left hand shot and didn't have to move at all.  Had I had to take a right hand shot I'm pretty sure that I would have scared the deer while moving.
  17. So, you get a new computer, get it home and fire it up.  What programs do you put on it?  I'm talking about things performance related to make it run better.  For me it's AVG Free, and Firefox.  Am I missing anything here?  Are there other performance enhancing problems that I should be running?
  18. I had a '79 Bronco and it was indeed a tank. Mine had a 400ci V8 and did not lack for power. Some red neck had welded up the rear end but it would go places in 2wd that my newer F150 would have to put into 4wd to get. I took the top off the day that I got it and put it back on the day I sold it. Couldn't of imagined having to have it as a daily driver it was a rough ride and loud. Even though, it was unstoppable! This is the only remaining picture I have of it. It needed to go when it did, it was never anything but a toy, but I do miss it sometimes.
  19. After owning Fords, Dodges, and Chevys I'll never own another after owning a Toyota as long as I don't need a truck to pull a very large load.  Can't say enough good about my Toyota, super smooth ride, pulls pretty decent, and though I don't do any extreme off roading it has never left me wanting more in the terms off off road capabilities with my Michelin M+S2 tires.  It has been a champ in the mud to get me to hunting spots and has been unstoppable in the snow.  140K and drives like it's new.
  20. I've only been on the East Fork a couple of times and never was fishing either time, didn't seem like it was that cold water that smallies like but I could be wrong.
  21. 10-Ring

Sounds like it was a training issue, which seems all to common anymore.  It's what happens when you pay low wages and throw tons of information at your employees.  Still, the employee didn't handle the situation properly and it looks like it cost the company a sale.
  22. I see a lot of problems with this trap.  It's heavy and bulky, and undoubtedly expensive.  The thing it has going for it is it's portability.  Another problem I see is the trap falling on a pig, injuring/trapping it and letting the others escape.  Heck I wouldn't want a mouse to suffer.  You can get the same results much cheaper with a few hog panels and devising a one way door, which isn't hard with a little ingenuity.
  23. That's a nice pic Ted.  I'm from the Nashville area and just moved back.  I was not into photography when I lived here before and I would love to get out and do some night shots around the city.  However I am very hesitant to do so alone.  Between carrying around an expensive camera and not having good situational awareness while I'm setting up and taking the pictures I need to get some buddies to go with me and do it.  Just don't feel that it would be safe to do alone.
