It's cool, but it's nowhere near $35,000 of cool.

I think it works at least as well as a gun buster sign works at keeping bank robbers out of banks.

At least Micheal Brown's "parent's" released a statement condemning the act. Why was it even necessary to report that. It is completely irrelevant to the situation at hand. Even bringing the Brown's into this is just stirring the pot.
-
And you really think that 8 hour class and $115 is going to stop any of that?
-
Sounds like constitutional carry to me. I don't think it would pass seeing as the state would no longer get to collect money from permit holders. Plus no one needs to be running around with a gun without training, my 8 hour HCP class basically gave me the skills of a highly trained operator.

I don't buy it and you can't really argue with MacGyvers statement. Not sure exactly what the study looked at but I see little to no correlation between the number of people hunting and the number of people owning guns. I know lots of people who are avid shooters that don't hunt.

I have never turned down shooting something that I haven't shot before. Given the chance I'm not sure I'd jump on this.

I worked at Walmart with a college degree for a while. It wasn't the best job, I didn't like it, and I didn't stay but it was a means to make an honest living for a while. No shame in an honest days work even if it is for the devil.

As at least a 4th generation Tennessean I welcome outsiders that share our beliefs. We have plenty of natives that do not.

I'll jump on the boat of if Walmart ain't selling it it's because it ain't making enough money. I don't think Walmart cares what anyone thinks, they are all about the Benjamin's.

It took a lot not to whip someone's ass today

You know that the Tennessean's headline would read "Senior citizen attacked while grocery shopping." This guy had to be senile. -
Well stated Caster. I feel the same way. If everyone on the line was a trusted friend it wouldn't bother me but the fact is that the gun handling abilities of people at a public range are unknown and varied. Therefore this is one of those rare circumstances where a "zero tolerance" policy makes since. If a few people are irritated because they were inconvenienced but they get to go home without any bullet holes that's a winner in my book.

I don't want anyone touching a weapon if I'm downrange. I've seen way too much stupidity at public ranges to think it is remotely a good idea to handle a weapon with people downrange. There is no point in doing so. I don't thick I would feel comfortable shooting at a range that allowed that.

Not that I am aware of. I have a 30/30 and a .270 that I fight this battle with. You are going to have to have a military caliber in order to by in quantity. Or just reload.

You needs to keep that locked up before it's out there penetrating things.

Oppsy Daisy, accidently stripped my bluing, what now?
10-Ring replied to 10-Ring's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'm pleased with the results! Wish I had taken some before pictures, I've seen nicer weapons thrown away. Here are a couple of pics, I'll report back when I've fired and cleaned it. To make this more of a project I was unable to get the breech plug out and in the process of trying (heating, freezing, penetrating oil, and beating I boogered up the threading for the nipple. I was able to save it with a tap forced into a 6mm nutdriver, crude but I got the threads straightened out. So this thing certainly became a project, my total cost in it is $117. Not horrible but I'm sure that I could have done better had I shopped around a little more. -
I have a friend that has one, his gets the safe queen award as well, really cool gun but it's just no something that gets used.

I may be speaking a little out of turn here as I am certainly no Model 700 expert. It is my understanding that there are different grades, and qualities of the 700. If you are looking at dumping some money into one to build it up you would most likely be better off to start with one of the higher end models unless you are just wanting to go all out and replace everything anyway.

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
10-Ring replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I actually did Google it before asking and didn't find a definitive answer in my first 10 minutes of searching so I thought that I'd bring my question here. After all if no one asks questions we don't have anything to talk about anyway. I honestly don't use this round but I still care about this topic, I don't want to see any round being banned. Furthermore from my research I found that it is actually not classified as an armor piercing round though everyone who thinks that it should be banned believes that it is. Your right though Garufa, call it anything but a "penetrator" and we wouldn't be talking about it? -
M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip

Please forgive me for asking but what particular traits designate M855 from other 5.56 ammo? I understand that it is a 62 grain lead core jacketed bullet? -
What can I tell my father?
10-Ring replied to glowdotGlock's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Guess I'm lucky, my dad has all the coolest carry guns and the latest ammo. He practices weekly and even invites me to go sometimes. There are other people in my life carrying around a half a magazine of green bullets on an empty chamber in a gun that hasn't been fired in 7 years. We all have someone like that in our lives and they never seem to want to listen. -
Oppsy Daisy, accidently stripped my bluing, what now?
10-Ring replied to 10-Ring's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
May be able to do something with a heat gun, oven is out of the question that barrel is way too long to fit. I'm happy with the results so far after 2 coats of primer and one coat of paint. I'm planning on doing 1 or 2 more coats of paint. -

I went to Lowe's with the intent to buy the Krylon chalkboard paint. Lowe's doesn't carry Krylon so I bought Rustoleum high temp primer and engine paint ($17.xx). Just got done with the first coat of primer, going to give it another shot of primer and them paint it. After the barrel is taken care of I will put it back together and shoot it. If I like the way it shoots I am going to strip and refinish the stock as it looks like it was used as a stick to beat extremely ugly people with for a long time. Still have more money in it than I would like but if it makes a decent hunting gun I will be happy. -
I'd rather buy a truck from a Japanese owned company that is built with American parts than buy a truck from an American company that is built with Mexican parts. The domestic manufacturers need to up their game or they are going to loose a large portion of their customer base. If Ford was producing an equal product for an equal price I'd pay them some attention. I have an acquaintance who is a Ford engineer, his words were telling when he said "I wish all of my friends drove Toyotas."

"Everything mechanical breaks eventually"... my Glock 19 did.

That's like wearing out a Toyota.
