  1. Guns are permitted in Bass Pro, but not the mall. That's why the signs are posted at the mall entrance. It's been that way for years.
  2. I have a mid 1960s manufactured A5 12 ga. I inherited it and love the gun, but don't shoot it well due to fitment issues, most noticeably the LOP being too long for me. I have plans to eventually shorten the LOP, and refinish the wood. Where can I find the procedure for correctly setting the friction rings? I'm in no hurry, I bought a fine modern shotgun that I haven't worn the new off of yet, but would love to get this Browning back to her former glory and show her off in the dove field.
  3. Country music is far from dead, the good stuff just isn't played on the radio, and save for maybe Chris Stapleton and Jamie Johnson I don't want to hear anything on "Country" radio. There is a boatload of great independent artists just like this one, but you have to seek them out. They refuse to play the Music Row game so the big labels won't sign them. Yes, they are harder to learn about, but you hear their music and not the "country radio" BS.
  4. Thanks a lot Scotty. Opening TGO just cost me $118.51 thanks to your post
  5. I don't see this in the cards for me right now, but I've owned countless F series trucks in this body style, but have never had a PS and always wanted one. Price?
  6. I think that the original post was a loaded question derived of cherry picked data to encourage fear mongering, though I don't believe that was the OP's intent. It's a very subjective question that could have a variety of different answers depending on the calibers compared. This question was undoubtedly tailored to misinform.
  7. Probably a long shot, but only interested in trades at this time. Dan Wesson .357 6" barrel. Very clean, and very well maintained. It is an absolute pleasure to shoot. I really hate to let it go but after carrying it while pig hunting I've decided that I really want a 4" barrel. I know they made a 4" barrel for these, but they are hard to find and stupid expensive when they are available. Looking for a S&W, or Dan Wesson in .357 or larger. Sorry, not interested in Ruger, or Taurus, I'm sure some of them are fine, I just don't care for them personally. Needs to be somewhat close to, if not an even trade. Any desired pics available on request. I'm in Lebanon, TN, I go East a little bit, I don't go west hardly at all.
  8. Mine isn't capable of "minute of pig" accuracy at 25 yards. Can't remember how long the barrel is and I'm at work right now. All and all I find this firearm to be an outright piece of junk. It's good for shooting rats with .410 at <5 feet, but is otherwise useless in my experience.
  9. For at least the 3rd year in a row I was the first to display my Christmas avatar, but to be fair I changed it then and have chosen to celebrate the holiday season year round since.
  10. Absolutely not, they already do that.
  11. I would say a cheap safe is better than no safe. I'm well aware that it is possible for a seasoned criminal to break into a cheap safe in a short amount of time. But most of the time thieves are going to come in, grab whatever they quickly can and get out. I'll take that TSC Canon Special over nothing. (and have been for over a decade). When I bought mine a "quality" safe was completely out of my budget, mine has served me well, but I haven't been broken into. I was well overdue for an upgrade 19 gun purchases ago
  12. Seems that every winter they come through here (Wilson County) earlier and earlier. Saw them here in March this past spring. I saw them on Saturday and could hear a flock right at dark this evening. They may well have bedded down behind my house. I'm fascinated by these birds for some reason. They have a distinct sound and you typically hear them before you see them. And they are usually flying very high.
  13. Ordered the Blackhawk Axiom stock last night. Going to order a picatinny rail so I can mount a red dot. (Already have the red dot on another rifle). Also already have a bipod. That should get him in good shape Christmas morning! From there we can build it together as he grows and he will have one customized 10/22, and one stock one. I will certainly be looking into threaded barrels in the future as I'm wanting a suppressor and we shoot in the backyard. Just a note on the rifles. Both of the 10/22s were given to him by his grandfathers. The one my dad gave him is wood stocked and like new. Dad wanted to buy me a 22 for my 15th birthday (and I really wanted one). I really wanted a Browning BL22 like his, but it was more than he wanted to spend. While shopping, dad saw the Ruger which was $50 more than he planned to spend on me and told me that if I would pay the difference he would give me his Browning and he would buy the Ruger. So I gave him the $50, still have the Browning, and always will, until I pass it down. My wife's dad bought the other one about 10 years ago. It has a stainless barrel and a plastic stock. It lived in the trunk of his car rolling around with God knows what, or sat outside on his back porch. I don't think that rifle knows what Hoppes #9 smells like, and likely has never seen a drop of oil. It may be a lot newer, but it's rough. I'll build that one and keep the clean wood stocked one as is.
  14. Your heart is in the right place, and you aren't wrong about a whole bunch of people carrying who have no business around a gun. But required training is all fine and good until the required amount of training is 500 classroom hours and 10,000 rounds on target in some obscure caliber that is unobtanium. Basically, I don't want some jack wagon politician to have the ability to decide what level of training is adequate for me to carry a gun, and to be able to bastardize those standards to make it overly difficult.
  15. There is a very recent thread on this topic, I'll see if I can find it. The consensus was that a permit made it much easier to carry when traveling out of state.
  16. My 3 year old will likely never need to purchase a gun of his own. He really enjoys shooting his Cricket and I expect that he will grow into the hobby. He has already been gifted 2 10/22s, so I'm thinking that it may be fun to build one up for him. Blackhawk makes an adjustable stock that I will probably get so he doesn't have to grow into something bigger. So I suppose what I'm looking for is what have you done with your 10/22 that you really like? As I've alluded, I'm not worried about doing something that will limit the usefulness of the rifle as I have a .22 rifle for pretty much all occasions.
  17. If you think that first responders are making any effort to break a time record getting to your emergency you are sadly mistaken. The 30 seconds it takes to get out and punch a code in isn't going to make a difference. Of course if you are that worried about it not having a gate at all of probably your best bet.
  18. Just set your gate up with the keypad, you can give the combination to EMS, or anyone else you want to for that matter.
  19. I haven't shot anything this year, but I've processed 2 does that my buddy's 7 year old shot. Just finished one up. I put both of the shoulders on the smoker as soon as I broke the deer down. While that was smoking I ground up everything but the backstrip and tenderloins and made summer sausage out of them. I find shoulders frustrating to deal with because they don't have a lot of meat on them, there is a lot of connective tissue, you really have to work for what's there, and whole shoulders don't fit in vacuum bags well. I've found smoking them too 165 and bringing them to about 205 in a dutch oven on the stove with broth, carrots, potatoes, onions, and garlic is very hard to beat. The slow cook breaks down all of the connective tissue and the resulting roast is tender and juicy.
  20. Thought I'd resurrect this thread because I still use this recipe. I've tweaked a few things and thought that I would share. I just made up a 30 lb pound batch today. I pack it into 1 pound casings using a jerky gun. I don't add liquid smoke anymore, but I do cook it in the smoker. I vacuum pack and freeze what I won't use up pretty quick. It is absolutely the best fresh out of the smoker still hot. Oh, and I add in about 20% ground bacon. I made a batch once out of straight ground deer and it fell apart after it was cooked. I've also used pork fat and had good results. It's just easier to get bacon.
  21. All of the above, depends on the situation.
  22. I had an event similar to this that resulted in me holding a couple of methheads at gun point for 20 minutes until the sheriff's dept showed up. (Calling them was a waste of everyone's time btw). Shortly after that we installed a gate with an electric opener. We could open it via control while coming and going and it had a key pad for trusted guests. That set up was worth it's weight in gold.
  23. I'll take that dueling tree if 101 doesn't get it.

I've had much discussion on this topic with another member. Although we have the feedback system, I know I have personally refrained from leaving negative feedback on an individual multiple times and fear that they would leave negative feedback on me purely for retaliation. Funny thing is that I had a bad deal with one member and spoke with several other members who had had less than pleasant experiences with that individual. None of us had left him negative feedback for the same reasons.
  25. Following, I have a M&P 15-22 I would like to use to host a suppressor. Threaded replacement barrels are more than the gun cost new.
