  1. One of my hunting buddies wants to get into bow hunting. She is petite and concerned about how much weight she can handle drawing? What is the minimum that would be recommended to deer hunt with and what would the range limitations be? She is already an accomplished deer hunter with a rifle and will no doubt work hard to learn and shoot her bow well, so I'm sure that she would be well practiced and her shot placement will be good.
  2. IMO Trauri which are produced on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays are pretty good guns. Tauri which are produced on Mondays and Fridays will usually prompt a return to the manufacturer and/or some tinkering on your part. They can be great guns or passable hammers, Taurus has good customer service, as they should considering how often their products get sent back.
  3. I'm giving up 6 motorcycles and a sports car, so in looking forward to all of the money that I will save! I have a place where I am keeping the boat where I could pull out up on the bank to redeck it when necessary. I know that if I had a trailer whenever I went to use our the tires would be flat, the bearings seized, and the runners rotted out, so I'll just avoid that by not having one. Those trailers are real money pits!!! I was lined up to buy a boat this morning but ant to get it and the motor wouldn't run worth a crap so it's back to the classifieds...
  4. Just a suggestion... as a replacement for pasta they make a gadget that makes zucchini into strings like pasta. Yeah, it's not as good, but it's a lot healthier.
  5. It's 24 feet. I do appreciate it, I could pick a trailer up anywhere between Nashville and Knoxville but it would probably be next weekend before I could return one to the Knoxville area.
  6. 1) I haven't registered a boat in Tennessee in about 15 years. Last time I did it you just took a bill of sale to the county clerks office, paid the sales tax and they gave you your sticker. Is this still the way it works? Just want to make sure I get all the proper documentation when I get the boat. 2) I'm purchasing a pontoon boat. I am currently in Mt. Juliet but the boat is in east Tennessee, the boat does not come with a trailer and I really don't want a trailer as I have boat dock to keep it at, and would very seldom use a trailer. Does anyone know of a local marina that rents trailers? I just need to rent one to go get the boat, that's the only stumbling block to making this happen.
  7. Bring plenty of bug spray and learn to love humidity. Welcome!
  8. Remember back when you could believe everything you heard on the internet?

I had one once that was so bad I put the used oil from everything else I owned in it. But it was one of those beater cars that I felt I had gotten more than my monies worth out of already.
  10. If he was as bad as he thinks he is he would not have blocked his number. It humored me how bad people think they are when they can hide behind an anonymous telephone or keyboard.
  11. I've had my eye on the PSE Fang, it has great reviews and can be had for $300 from Amazon.
  12. I'm sorry but if you fire a weapon you are 100 percent responsible for where that bullet goes. It is negligent to fire into the air, period.
  13. I've known black people who consider the term "African American" offensive as they have never been to Africa. IMO there is nothing wrong with simply using the word "black" to describe someone of a dark race. I certainly don't take offense when someone refers to me as white, though I don't think I would be comfortable with German/native Tennessean.
  14. There is a reason that ugly bikes still sell. It seems that the uglier they are the better the bike they are. I would still like a Versys someday, I haven't came across an owner of one yet that didn't love theirs.
  15. Ammo cans are the way to go, cheap, rugged, and waterproof. I always preferred top loading luggage as opposed to a clam shell design so all of your stuff doesn't flop out when you open it and you don't have to hold everything in place just right to get it closed. Additionally ammo cans look cool, but obviously if you own a KLR you don't care about looks anyway. (Said by a guy who has a lengthy history of owning ugly bikes)
  16. I just downloaded Waze today, really cool app and I was surprised how many people are using it. Seems to work very well.
  17. Pellet guns and bb guns are what I really cut my teeth on. For general utility use a $50 pellet gun will be fine. I'd say some of the marksmanship should that I have today came from overcoming things with those old pellet rifle, I once killed a good sized muskrat with a daisy eagle at about 15 feet humanely, they are capable if you are.
  18. Surprised that we haven't had to give up fireworks because they offend members of ISIS or something like that yet.
  19. IMO you are always rolling the dice on a Taurus, if you get a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday gun you are in good shape, if you get a Monday Friday gun you had better learn to throw it accurately. I own one Taurus and love it but it took some work to get it to run right.
  20. I've been thinking about this thread all week, between the guys hostility right off of the bat and his making race an issue I kind of think this guy was just a bully looking to start something.
  21. I have a friend who just sent in his paperwork for his HCP and received a letter back requesting the disposition of a 1974 simple possession charge, of which the case was dropped. The problem is that he was arrested in Davidson County, yet Davidson County has no record of the case. My friend does not know how to go about getting his HCP at this point, anyone have any advice?
  22. [quote name="BigK" post="1283410" I'd bet my best pistol on it.[/quote] I'm stealing that line!
  23. What is the law in Tennessee? Are we allowed to carry during a state of emergency?
  24. Heck I tried living in another state once, that lasted 4 months. I've entertained the idea before anyway just because you should always explore your options. I couldn't find anywhere in the world where I thought I would be happier than here. New Zealand seemed pretty attractive, I just wasn't crazy about certain laws and some of their politics.
  25. My grandmother has a sulfer water well in Wilson County. Neighbor has a well about 300 yards away that he gets nice clean water out of, so it's hard to tell what you will get even if there are other wells close by. If thus was an either or proposition I would elect for city water. It's nice to not have a water bill and have your own water but you can drive yourself crazy trying to maintain a filtration system to make your well water suitable enough to bring in your house and even then it may stink and stain everything.
