I went the Canon route. There is plenty of room in there but I honestly don't think it would take a determined person with a crowbar and a hammer very long to get into it. That's part of the reason that it did live in the bedroom closet at our last house. Having the space to offer my wife use of the safe for her valuables didn't hurt on getting it in the closet. I would really like a Liberty that is the size of my Canon, in the meantime I think the Canon well do fine protecting against smash and grab type burglaries and keeping the little people hands of of the guns.

The fishing dynamics have changed on OldHickory Lake

FYI, page 10 of the 2015 TWRA fishing regulations states that it is illegal to harvest gar in Tennessee and they must be returned to the water immediately. There are plenty of things that the TWRA does that I don't care for but if I'm going to fish and hunt in Tennessee I feel that it is my responsibility to follow the rules. -

Thanks for the tips Bersa. The steam plant isn't unfeasible but it's 10 miles down river from where I keep my boat and that boat just don't go anywhere fast. If I can manage to get my butt out of the deer woods on an October day I just may have to do that. I'm going to go out tomorrow evening and see if I can get into some catfish and/or rockfish. I had planned to hunt archery this year but I just haven't had the time to get the bow practice in and I'm going to have to restring the bow before I use it. I have really been wanting to get that done so I can put my fishing equipment on it and shoot some gar. We're rich with carp too and I'm pretty sure I've seen some asian carp. I kind of hate to kill stuff and not do anything with it but both species seem to be invasive. -

I've done well with top water baits in the creeks. The Rapala popper is my favorite, but I'm partial to top water. I will say the bigger bass may be deeper I'm not catching much that is over a pound and a half or so. -

I'd really like to get into those rockfish, I kind of thought that's what they were. I trolled one morning using some white jigs after I saw several jumping but didn't have any luck. I may try a whole bluegill and see how that works. -
How a Gun in a Purse Became a Permanent Ball and Chain

That's unfortunate and all but the situation could have been completely avoided by 1) educating yourself of the laws where you are traveling to. I'm sure this was a lot harder in the 80's before wide spread use of the internet. and 2) Not going to states that have ridiculous laws. I love to travel but there are some states that I guess I'll just never get to see. -
I think it's cool but it's just too expensive for something that I would not have a good use for. I know virtually nothing about big bore air rifles but is the rifle ammo rifled? Seeing as it's a smoothbore, it may be a .50 but that will mean nothing if you can't hit anything with it.

This post makes no sense as there is no dog in the pictures. Purina seems to work just fine though.

Why would you put it in a drop box for free when you can get a $50 gas card with your stolen gun?

As I've mentioned in some other posts I've recently gotten a boat and started fishing OldHickory lake again. Last time that I actively fished the lake on a regular basis was around 2002 or 2003. I'll fish for anything, I'm eventually wanting to get after some rockfish but I need some bigger gear first. For now I'm fishing for bluegill, catfish, bass, and I troll for stripe when the family is out with me because they just want to ride around and don't like it when I stop and fish. So, I've made the following observations now as opposed to 12-13 years ago. 1) I'm catching more bass and they are bigger! I credit this to the 15" minimum limit and the 5 fish creel limit put into place several years ago. It looks as if it has finally had enough time to make a difference. I haven't gotten to do as much bass fishing as I would like but I'd say my average bass is around a pound while 12 years ago the average was maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a pound. 2) I'm catching more catfish. Not necessarily bigger catfish but more smaller ones and that's fine because I prefer to eat the ones under about 3 pounds the most. 3) This one puzzles me but in the panfish arena I'm only catching very small fish for the most part. It's rare that I catch one that is big enough to clean. Years ago I separated them as I caught them by cleaning size and catfish bait size. There were always plenty that were big enough to clean but not anymore. I caught about 60 Friday evening and 3 or 4 were big enough to clean. Maybe that's why the bass are bigger and there are more of them? If that's so why are the smaller panfish plentiful? 4) The number of gar has drastically increased. It used to be rare to see one now I can't hardly fish a bank without seeing one. 5) I see a lot of really big fish jumping in the middle of the lake, I haven't figured out what they are but I'm talking at the very least 20 pound plus fish. I haven't tied into any of these while trolling, I've also thrown Rapalas out in the early mornings but have yet to hook into one of these huge fish. 6) I've caught several large skipjacks while trolling like 2+ feet long and probably 4-5 pounds. Never really remember catching them before on that body of water. I never thought about the lake being any different to fish than it used to be but there certainly are some changes.

This completely trumps the stupidity of bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Yes, I read it on the internet.

I never liked cats until a couple of months after I agreed that my wife could bring one home. She begged me for months and finally I agreed because I go tired of hearing her whining about it. It was supposed to be an indoor outdoor, the only time that cat has been outside in the year+ that we have had it was when we moved, but it's okay, she's fun to watch "cat" around the house while she is hunting her toys, she uses the litter box, stays off of furniture tables and counter tops, and most people that come over don't even know we have a cat. That said I'm not a cat person but I'd say that the percentage of dogs that I meet and like is a lot higher than the percentage of people that I meet and like. Feral cats? I'd shoot them on site.

Has Tennessee passed a law as to where the state won't prosecute, awe never mind I don't want any warning points today.

Check your grounds, I've had more issues with grounds than anything else.

My Wal-Mart usually has the 7.62 Tula in stock, I don't buy a lot of it but it's somewhere in the $5-6 per 20 range. I have learned to stay stocked up on my recreational calibers though. Last time I wanted to have a spontaneous range session some bozo had hit both of the local Wal-Mart's and bought every last box of Tula .223, which is my current caliber of choice.

The trigger in an LCR is hard to beat in a DAO, kind of made me hate my 642.

Not sure what you want to use then for specifically. I don't like to wear expensive sunglasses at work but I've been wearing DeWalt sunglasses for about two years now. They are Z87 rated, they run $10 a pair I think the polarized ones are $20 or $30. At those prices I'm not worried about losing them our breaking them. My only gripe it's that the lenses do scratch easily. That said I wore my last pair for a year before they needed replacing. You can buy them at Lowe's.

I don't feel that I should have to stop and explain myself when I've done nothing but exercise my Constitutional right, but then again maybe that's why I conceal when in public. Maybe an LEO or someone with more legal knowledge than myself can answer this for sure, but can one not be prosecuted for making frivolous 911 calls? I think that approach would be a stretch but law enforcement is going to get tired of answering these calls really quick.

I sent this to my wife and she has informed me that we have some incorrect information here.

I've been into boating in one form or another for as long as I remember. However, I got rid of my last boat in 2003 and can count the times I've been on the water on one hand since. I picked up a pontoon boat about a month ago and I've been spending a lot of time on the lake. I would never have imagined that so many things could change on the lake in 12 years. I'm not singling any certain group of people out, in my past I've been a competitive water skier and participated and/or competed in nearly every discipline of watersports. Ive also been an avid fisherman for my entire life, point being, I understand the frustrations of everyone out there because at one time or another I've been in their shoes. So, what's the problem? Seems that everyone on the lake that you are meeting or being overtaken by feel a need to get as close as possible. I was trolling the other day and had maybe 100' of line out behind the boat and a runabout with a tube being pulled behind it got so close that they snagged my lure. Pretty sure there was a bass tournament on Saturday, I was in the back of a creek fishing along a bank and a bass boat comes in about half plane dang near washing me up on the bank, he has the nerve to cut in about 100 yards down the bank from me, after fishing for about 5 minutes he's hammer down like a bat out of hell. The wakeboarders are no better, wakeboard boats throw an obnoxious wake, it's their nature, it's what they are built for. I always considered it impolite to repeatedly board in the same area when other people are trying to use it. Not to mention the environmental impact that these boats are having on shoreline erosion. It seems that everytime I'm on the lake someone does something ignorant that puts me and my family in danger, or just commits some self centered act that detracts from my boating experience. It's a big lake, there is plenty of room for everyone. Thanks for listening to my rant.

I agree with you both. I want a bumper sticker that reads "White, Southern, and Proud"
