Wonder what the reasoning behind that was? I do know that the tree huggers have been trying to protect that place from everyone else for as long as I can remember. It's been 15 years since I've tried to hunt out there but back then the deer were few and far between.

I've been blessed to be able to hunt a farm for years and the place has become absolutely over run with deer. Unfortunately I have very little free time to hunt during the week. I've already bagged 3 deer this year and there will be plenty more. The land owner has asked me to kill as many deer as possible because they are destroying his crops. Due to my work schedule I get to hunt for a couple of hours before work and I don't get off until after dark so I have zero time to process the deer in the daylight and I'm just not desperate enough to do it by flashlight. So... If anyone wants a whole deer (I may even leave tenderloins in) let me know. I'm planning on hunting this place a lot throughout the season and a lot of deer will be coming off of it. The deer will have to be picked up in Mount Juliet around 6:30 in the evenings.

The are a lot of fox squirrels where I hunt. I bigger concentration of them than anywhere else I've ever seen. I had one in the tree right above me this morning and the little butthead crapped on me. Felt and heard something hit the sleeve of my jacket and looked down to find a pea sized turd. I think he was laughing at me.

Got a button. A 7 that I've seen several times came in on the trail of the doe I shot, then a button meet him from the opposite direction, they mingled for several minutes in some tall grass until the button finally have me a clear shot. I've let that 7 walk 3 times now, it's starting to get a little easier, if he can make it to next year he may turn out to be a really nice deer. He's got a good y'all rack, it's just narrow.

One doe down, waiting to see if her sister she came in with wanders back. Funny thing is I'm hunting a field where I have 300 yard shots, this one came in from the fence row behind me and I shot at about 30 yards.

I will check myself. I believe my comment came off as critical and I really didn't mean for it to.

I remember some friends used to hunt AEDC, seems like they may have been draw hunts though, May be worth checking out for next year. They usually did well there.

I don't think there was anything wrong with this deer's genes, he more than likely just wasn't old enough to have a big rack yet.

You would be surprised at how unafraid deer are of farm equipment, I've even seen them come to the sound of a tractor. I'm sitting in thevbarn now, it's cold and the wind is blowing the wrong way but I'm not going to sit in the rain and make myself sick. Had to work until 2 today. I hope conditions are better tomorrow.

I'm sorry I don't have time to go look at the book before work but from what you are saying it sounds like a buck is your only option. I know Catoosa used to have a minimum spread requirement as well. There is much better hunting to be had IMO, much closer to you as well. There is some good public land out there. I've spent the last 20 years figuring out how and where to hunt public land and be successfull, there is good public land out there access is the issue. But if it was easy it would be full of people.

From what I've heard that is how the girl got abducted, going to the restroom without adult supervision. That is something that we've just stared doing here in the last few months as well, letting our daughter go to the restroom by herself at restaurants. I think we are just going to use our discretion, it will depend a lot on where the restroom is in relation to us and the exits.

They have arrested a suspect. http://www.wsmv.com/story/30569677/arrest-made-in-connection-to-killing-of-7-year-old-ky-girl If ever there was a case for a lynch mob I think this is it. Capitol punishment is too good for this scum. My daughter is 6 and this has really hit home with me. We have recently let her start doing a lot more things on her own, but this really makes me think. You can't keep them in a jar forever though.

Glad you are okay! My F-150 crushed my Rhino Ramps so don't put anything too heavy on them.

I'm betting he doesn't make it out alive.

In another 3 years or so mine should be telling me to get a .177 pellet rifle.

Probably a lunch pail since we got rained out at work today. If I'm lucky enough to be hunting I'll have the trusty old .270.

We get hit with an EMP I'll open my safe with a crowbar and carry my guns everywhere with me. -
Something interesting we should be doing here

Wonder how the left will object to this? It makes perfect sense and there is no reason not to do it. -
Smoked sausage and other things to do with deer.

Whew boy! Tonight I ground up the deer that I killed Saturday. It yielded 19 pounds of meat minus the back straps. Cubed ask of that up, ground it and added about 5 pounds of pork fat. I was getting all of the ingredients together to put in the meat and realized that I didn't have enough garlic powder. I'm pooped, gonna clean up the kitchen and head to bed and finish this project tomorrow. I hope it's good because in making 25 pounds of it and I've spent about $60 on ingredients. -
I know I'll get flamed for this but I don't care. I have made a personal choice not to hunt deer with .223. At one time I desired to do it because I thought that it would be a challenge. A friend who is a long time hunter had done it the year before and wasn't impressed with the results. If a person were limited to this caliber I may entertain it but as long as I have other calibers that are proven I will not use it. I absolutely hate tracking or even worse losing deer.

I passed on several small bucks this weekend. Even passed on a pretty nice 7, the spread just wasn't that great. I'm not much of a buck hunter, I'm in it for the meat and the best meat does not come from bucks. Last year was the first year that I killed all 3 bucks in a season and none of them were worth bragging on. The number of bucks has to be higher now than ever the quality just isn't there.

As long as the person does not have a reasonable expectation of privacy then their picture may be taken. IE it would be legal to take a picture from the street of someone's home because you can walk by on the street and see anything that you would be taking a picture of. I'm not saying that it would be wise to do so or that you won't get your @$$ kicked but it's the law.

I have one and have nothing but good to say about it. Is it the quality of a Ruger? No, but it's a good value for what you pay for it. Never thought mine was all that accurate when shot side by with me .22 pistols.

That restriction applies to all migratory birds.
