Anyone switched from US Cellular to Straight Talk and kept their phone??
10-Ring replied to 10-Ring's topic in General Chat
This is where I am getting stuck and lost. I am already a Straight Talk customer, I just have an unlocked US Cellular phone that I was trying to switch to. I'm currently using a Sprint phone on the Straight Talk network. This is where it gets weird. I was on the Ting network for a few months. I was using this Sprint phone on Ting. Then I took the Sprint phone to the Straight Talk network. When I switched to Straight Talk I had issues getting the SIM card to work (I had bought the Straight Talk starter pack that has a SIM for about anything, don't waste your money on that BTW.). The tech support guy at Straight Talk was helping me through it and asked if I had a SIM card with 5XXX on it, I did have that SIM card but it was my Ting SIM card. So, I've been using the Ting SIM in my Straight Talk phone for several months, not sure how that works. On top of not understanding when I called Straight Talk to try to get the new phone running they told me that it is not compatible with their network. Therefore if it is possible to use this US Cellular phone I'm going to have to figure it out without Straight Talk's help. BTW, best I can tell Sprint and Verizon phones use the same SIM card. -
Makes this look like a bargain! http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=540169344 (For those that don't want to click the link that's a 1972 6" Python and a 1973 Detective special with a reserve of $2750.)

That's what I thought. The phone is unlocked. US Cellular was actually really nice about unlocking it. But when I put my SIM card into the phone it doesn't work. It recognizes the SIM card but says that there is no network available. -
I'm with you. I always liked my Glocks as a SD gun because they are just plain tough and reliable and don't rust. I've decided that I hate shooting them though. I've been thinning down the Glocks in favor of steel and wood that just shoot better and have some character to them. To each his own, I'm just finding polymer boring currently.

I've worn Google out on this and haven't found a suitable answer so I just thought at I would check and see if anyone has used a US Cellular phone on the Straight Talk network? Best that I can tell it's not possible but I'm hoping someone that is more technologically savvy than myself can point out something that I may be missing. Phone is a Galaxy S5 if it matters. This is gun related because I'll shoot my old phone if I can get this one to work.

Welcome to TGO! I was the guy that got to the match about the same time that you did and talked to you for a bit in the safe room. Hope you make it out to shoot again!

I've struggled with insomnia for the past year. It was an occasional thing before but over the past year I have more nights that I don't sleep well than nights that I do if I don't take meds. Everyone is different but taking 50mg of diphenhydramine reach night before bed has been a game changer for me. I've had maybe 2 nights over the past year where I took it and still couldn't sleep. I also use it when I work my 4am shifts and I'm going to bed at 6:30pm, it has really helped me get the sleep that I need to function.

With my luck I'll wind up in a padded room wearing a straight jacket.

Glock started producing the 18 in 1986. Anything that you can legally own as a private citizen will have had to be registered before May 1986, therefore that almost effectively rules out a Glock 18. Check gun broker to see what stuff is going for that will be a good indication as far as cost. That's the only questions that you asked that I can give you a good answer on.

Ever brought a gun because of a TV show or movie.
10-Ring replied to FortKnox's topic in General Chat
TV shows and movies have zero bearing on the guns that I buy. Basically because people that make movies generally don't know jack about guns. -
Yeah those old ones will not hold up in a crash, they just don't have the engineering. What I was saying is that they are going to hit harder based on their weight alone. I suck at physics but know enough to know that if a Chevy that weighs 3 tons and a Prius that weighs 1 ton are traveling at the same rate of speed the Chevy will do a lot more damage to the hipster in the Nissan Leaf that was checking his Facebook while turning left on a red.

Ooooh, canings!

I'd be more in favor of a public stoning.

I'm all kinds of messed up. I'm right handed and left eye dominant. A rifle instructor noticed this when I was a young boy scout earning my riflery merit badge and encouraged me to try shooting left handed. I had my own .22 at that point that I shot a lot. I continued to shoot left and right handed using both my left and right eyes depending on which shoulder I was shooting from. I will say that I can acquire the target better when I'm shooting right handed with a scope as opposed to iron sights. I can't tell you how many times I've switched shoulders and been able to bag a deer. I never remember letting one walk because it was on the wrong side.

Are we shooting from cover? How many rounds should I bring?

As much as I love TGO I have no interest in telling the world that there may be a gun in my vehicle for the taking. However if they ever get anymore of those free Bernie Sanders stickers I would like to get one of those for my truck because it's a well known fact that people that have Bernie stickers on their car have never worked hard enough to have anything nice.

Growing up in Mt. Juliet and moving back here this past year has been odd. The town has tripled in size since I left. So basically 2/3 of the population is a bunch of pricks that are not from here but want to change the way things have been done here forever, not to mention that they can't drive. If I could take a cane to these people for what I experience on a daily basis in stores and in traffic my arm would be worn out.

If you browse the pets section on golsn.com, which mostly serves your area, it is very common to see ads offering grown dogs for trade for random things. My pets are not currency, they are family.

When I lived in East Tennessee it was common when bear season came to an end for "hunters" to leave their dogs in the woods. Specifically dogs that were old or didn't hunt well. Multiple times I had hounds show up at my place skinny and scared. I'd feed them for as long as they would stay but they always disappeared within a few days. I'm not sure what is worse, shooting a dog that won't hunt or leaving it in the woods. Probably best to just put a bullet in the piece of trash that thinks that either is acceptable but evidently there are laws against that  I've had working (hunting) dogs and they were still family, I just don't get that disconnect.

I wonder if people would drive like such idiots if the consequences were getting hit with one of these tanks instead of a Prius?

I see what you are saying. I would prefer cash on everything. Only reason I list trade price is to discourage trading.
-
The trade value thing gets me. Here's how I look at it. If I offer to trade my $500 gun for your gun, then an even trade would be you giving me a $500 gun and that is fair. If I offer my $500 gun for sale and you want to trade me an Xbox, three tires and a jet ski with a bad motor then those things should add up in value to say $700. I have a boat listed on CL now for $2000, I say in the ad that I don't want to do trades but I put a trade value of $3000 on it. Reason being is I don't want what they have to trade, I don't need anything, anything that they are offering to trade I will just sell. Therefore I'm going to have to make a post, get the item ready to sell, then deal with more idiots like them that will likely want to trade me for more crap that I don't want or need.

I used to give the name, number, and address of anyone that I had a beef with to a recruiter from every branch of the military via the military websites. I probably broke some laws. But I'm sure that kept them annoyed for a while.
