Front differential in my truck is trashed......
10-Ring replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
I've swapped out a few, always did the entire unit as I never had the knowledge and tools for a gear swap. That said junk yards are always iffy. Pull-a-Part probably put a taste in my mouth as bad as possum butt holes but most everything on their lot was worn out 100,000 miles ago. Who wants to do that much work to swap in a differential with 300K on it? Dealing with salvage yards that buy vehicles from insurance companies may yield better results, it was part of the Pull-a-Part business model that they didn't buy insurance wrecks, they got their stock from individuals so about the only chance you had of getting something that wasn't work out is if someone had a vehicle that wasn't too awfully old but paid off, then they crashed it at fault and sold it to the yard. Even if you bought a warranty and it didn't work you still have to do the job twice or pay someone else to. I guess to sum it up, if you get one out of a junk yard make sure that you know what you are getting. IMO the way to do this job best is to pay someone who is good to rebuild what you got. One more thing and you probably know this but no one has mentioned it so I will. Make sure that the replacement is running the same gear ratio as you currently are or it will bind up since your front and rear differentials will be running different ratios. Then you will be right back to where you started. -
How is your boss doing financially? My first rule of taking financial advice is I don't take it from people who have less money than I do. I agree that walking away from a house is a horrible idea. You and your wife are out there killing it socking back an entire income, congratulations! If I were you guys I would be paying that house off as quickly as possible. Like, have a years worth of expenses in the bank and use every bit of the rest of your money to pay off the house. Then you can invest that money in whatever you like and have a ton of financial freedom at a fairly young age. Which situation would you rather be in in 10 years... A) Have 20 years remaining on a mortgage but you have some investments that may or may not pan out? or B) Own your home free and clear with an extra income that you can do whatever you want with?

I was added to one of those Sheep Dog Facebook groups by someone else. I stayed because it's entertaining. They have meet ups and training days, which are probably reminiscent in the current "Tacticold" thread. The truth is that they are a bunch of under trained, over weight wanna be operators. That said I think that what they are doing has some merit. I would say that 3/4 of them would be dangerous to be around were they in possession of a firearm. That same 3/4 is probably going to run their mouth in a way that is going to attract unwanted or at least unhelpful attention. I could get behind a revolution but not one led by idiots.

I wouldn't do it. I would at least move it to the back. But then again I err on the side of caution when it come to tires.

That is great that they charged him.

I just tried that backwards shotgun roll, knocked out a tooth, sprained my back, and shot the TV all at the same time.

I saw the light and tried to dump the .40s but your constant bashing has made them difficult to sell here.

Pay Comms no attention, no one ever taught him to be tolerant of people that use calibers that he doesn't like :hyper:

The thing is their prices can't be beat but they are the kind of shop that I would be willing to pay a little bit more to do business with because I know that they are going to do me right. They are the only car related shop that I've dealt with that I am willing to send my wife to without worry that they are going to try to sell her something that she doesn't need.

Sig Sauer P226r .40S&w like new for $450, $15 shipping
10-Ring replied to MountainDewed's topic in Handguns
Thanks, for the info HiPower. Guess I'll be passing as a despise a DOA gun. I've had a difficult time learning the differences in Sigs. I never understood people that didn't understand Glocks as I always thought their model system was very straight forward, but with Sig it's model 226 and there's 100 different varieties within that model. -

That is killer deal! I have plans to get one of these in 9mm. I think that Sigs can be converted fairly easily, going to check into it. -
I think the only people who I have ever opened my safe in front of are my wife and my dad. There is no reason for even close friends knowing everything that I've got. This is also why I keep my grinder in my safe.

Things that I thought about while watching this video... - Chris Hansen on "To Catch a Predator" - Running a dojo out of your parent's basement. - Gecko 45. - Rex Kwan Do (Napoleon Dynamite reference.)

300 BLK can be a little tricky to load especially if you are making your own cases. Just be aware of that if you are not a very experienced reloader. Either round will work fine for deer. Hopefully our resident 300 BLK expert will chime in soon. I would lean towards the 300 just because it is light and compact which is what I prefer in a hunting rifle.

Consider this... The No Child Left Behind Act was passed in January of 2002, right at 14 years ago. This means that anyone who graduated from high school since 2002 was exposed to this non sense. That's pretty much everyone that today is under the age of about 33. Of course the younger they are the more exposure they had to NCLB. Perhaps this explains the "We're all equal, everybody gets a trophy" mentality of this crowd?

Thinking of relocating from behind the iron curtain
10-Ring replied to shadyduk1979's topic in New Member Introductions
Just a point of information Decatur is 2 1/2-3 hours from Nashville. It is a nice area though. -
This was just brought to my attention. Interesting concept, basically if a business is posted they can be held accountable the safety and losses sustained on their property by handgun carry permit holders. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1736

Keep in mind that if you order them you will have to cut them to length. I've been out of archery for a while but I always liked the Red Head carbon arrows from Bass Pro. They were a good balance of value and quality, they could have changed since then though.

Still a smart move. If YouTube cans him again everyone knows where to find him. Good to have a backup plan.

Hickok released a statement today saying that he would continue with business as usual on YouTube and would be posting the same videos on Full30 as well.

I don't know about that, I've seen a PSA .308 AR built for under $800.

I like to know what's going on all over the state personally, it's not that vast of an area. You may have a point when it comes to the classifieds though. How many times have we seen "you are on the wrong side of the state" posted in the comments of a listing? If it were to be done West, Middle, and East would probably be acceptable, works with a lot of other things. I-40 runs W to E nearly 400 miles across the state, of course the extreme NE corner isn't included in that, the state is roughly 100 miles N to S at any given point. Therefore when divided into thirds you have areas roughly 100x135 miles, which isn't a huge area. For the purpose of the general forum though I like things the way they are.

On the topic of blue light. I downloaded an app to my phone called Twilight. I can't say for sure that it really helped with sleep but it did make the screen easier to look at. It puts an adjustable orange tint over the screen. It is designed so that you can use your phone before bed without getting the blue light exposure.
