  1. Never seen one before, very cool!
  2. People paying $260 for HiPoints and I can't get $450 out of a Glock.
  3. Why do they have to be "currently unavailible?"
  4. I don't think you are going to do a 700 in your budget.  I'd take a look at the Ruger American.  I don't own one but I had a scope failure on a hunt this past season and grabbed my buddies American and dropped one deer at 300 yards and then two more at 250 and 125.  It is a more than capable gun and imo it's the best bang for your buck.  I'm partial to .270 as well.  There is no one right answer when it comes to caliber, much of it depends on what terrain you want to hunt.  I like to hunt wide open spaces and the .270 has served me very well.  I have noticed with light ammo, I use 130 grain bullets, I don't get the quick kills under 100 yards that I get past 100, out to 200 and even 300, though currently 300 is my personal limit.  I think that the bullet is moving so fast under 100 yards that it is not expanding properly.  Once it gets out further out slows down a little and really does a good job.  Under 100 and I'm seeing deer running 30-40 yards and then folding up.
  5. This shouldn't have to be a law.  This is common sense.  But we have a bunch of idiots out there that have enough trouble tying their own shoes, therefore there has to be a law to make it illegal for them to be negligent.  This is about as close as I've ever seen to that term "common sense gun law" but it's still pointless.  It's not going to make anyone stop and think "Hey better keep my gun locked up so I don't catch a charge."  So the kid gets the gun the parent gets charged and then what?
  6. Don't worry about getting airline tickets.  Delta doesn't accept EBT cards.
  7. I think gun lube is a lot like engine oil, it's not so important what you use it's that you use it.  I use Mobil 1 for everything because it's good oil and it's cheap.  I've used out on guns but usually just grab whatever is close by that looks like it might be slippery.
  8. Nifty looking piece, I'd like to shoot one.  I just can't imagine producing something like this as a small business though when the market is already saturated with guns that fill that niche.  Don't get me wrong I like the gun I'd just be hesitant to buy something from a small name gun maker, who knows if you will be able to get parts or service down the road.
  9. They can also be found flashing badges at the Golden Corral.
  10. Had a rather unsavory appearing youth attempt to open my door on NYE about 3 am.  I reached for the pistol, he would have gotten it had he pressed the matter.  Keep your doors locked folks.
  11. From what I understood the suspect beat up the officer and then took the lock box key from her.
  12. I shot at that range, once.  I was hit by a ricochet in the shoulder and it left a large bruise.  There were several ricochets that came back that day.  I never bothered shooting there again.
  13. On the scope being hard to look through make sure that your eye relief is correct.  I set the scope on the rifle mounted as far back as possible, then hold the rifle as if you are shooting it looking through the scope and have someone move the scope away from your face.  You will find a point where you can see through the score the best.  Find that spot and tighten her down.  As far as the scope you don't need to spend much money it's just a plinker.  I would go online and check your favorite websites clearance sections.  Find a scope from a reputable brand on clearance and grab it!  More than likely it will serve you just fine.
  14. $245 for an LCP?  I got one new for $230 OTD a couple of months ago.
  15. I had been searching for a couple of magazines that I was having a hard time finding.  Came across a website that not only had them in stock but they were cheaper than anyone else had them listed.  I placed an order but never got a confirmation email.  I checked my card and it has been charged.  I shot out a friendly email to the vendor around 8 last night and had a reply when I got up this morning.  Turns out I had mistyped my email address.  They resent the invoice and had already processed the order.  When a company gives great customer service I like to let it be known, so there! http://charliecoopers.com
  16. I'm going to say a few things here and it is worth everything that you are paying for it.  Really just some points to consider.   -  I won't discourage anyone from buying the best safe that they can. -  Any safe is better than no safe.  -  Most thieves will not put forth the effort to break into a safe.  Most will ransack the house and grab whatever they can quickly. -  Most people that you have to worry about stealing your guns you already know, whether you want to admit it or not.  Most thieves are not going to put forth the effort to crack a safe that has unknown contents.  -  A cop friend of mine that works in a fairly high crime area said that in his 10 years of being a cop he has never seen a safe broken into but he's been to a lot of home burglaries. -  The location of the safe its self can add another layer of security.  As can having it properly mounted.  Don't make it obvious and don't make it easy to roll out of the house on a dolly.  As much of a pain as it is, the harder it is to get in the harder it will be go get out.  At my last house the safe was in the master bedroom closet.  Guests at our house never knew that we had a safe.  Of course if I like you enough to let you into my home you probably already know that I have guns.  No need to have it sitting out in the open where service people and the like can see it.   -  A security system adds yet another layer of protection.    So, be careful who you let know what you have.  Be careful about who has access to your house. Don't leave crowbars, grinders, torches and the like easily accessible.  Finally, make it inconvenient to remove the safe from your house.   All of these points can be argued to death and there are exceptions to them all, they are simply observations and generalizations to consider.
  17. I'll give the LGS a shot when I'm looking for something though it can usually be found online at a price that the LGS can't match.  I do think it's good to ask if they will match the price that you can find it for elsewhere.  I've had them match the price and I've had them say "that's a really good price I can't beat that."   I don't know what the profit margin is when a LGS sells a gun but I figure that $30 or so that they make off of a transfer fee is pretty easy money for them considering that they didn't have to put any money into the merchandise.  Yes I know that transfers generally just help cover expenses but the LGS is getting a slice of the pie an the internet age where other mom and pops are SOL.
  18.   Well played, I was wondering if that's what you were getting at!
  19. Yep 870.  I don't use it much but if I only had one gun that would be it.
  20. I enjoyed your video.  I don't know jack about the Oscars but isn't that chick at 7:40 that white girl that said that she was black and was the president of the NAACP in Washington State?  Did she get an Oscar for that?
  21. Just got an email on this.  Good price on a good rifle.  Comes with a 25 round mag too!
  22. I'm fresh out of tin foil today but I have to wonder if this whole thing wasn't plotted out by some antis?  Any FFL worth their salt knows that selling firearms off the books is a huge no no.  Seems plausible to me that the whole thing is staged to look bad on the gun industry.
  23. There yall go using that word free again...
