  1. I will be spending a quarter of the next year in Chicago. I swore of the state of Illinois years ago but when work tells you to go you go. Especially when you like everything else about the job.
  2. Find a Comcast outside sales rep. I used one of them once and got about half of what I would have paid just going into the office. My typical experience has been that you have to sign a contract for two years and the price will go up after one year. After the second year is up the price typically will go up every couple of months. If you can find the right person to listen to you you might be able to get it knocked down. It is not uncommon to threaten to cancel your service and the sales rep says "OK let me get you started on that." They are typically really good about getting out and installing everything but if you're alone happens to break they will take about a week to get out to fix it. Their customer service is typically horrible. I have had to wait up to 20 minutes to actually talk to someone during non-peak times. If I had any other option I would not be using them.
  3. Can't comment on where to rent from as I have several friends that I borrow canoes and kayaks from. When it's crowded put in at Happy Hollow 7 miles down from the dam that's where most people take out, even on the busiest weekends the river won't be crowded past there. I don't like to paddle much past the take out on highway 264 because the water gets pretty still past there. Dam to 264 is about 15 miles. Which is an easy over nighter our can be done in a day, especially of generation is good.
  4. Try Preparation H, it helps the butt hurt.
  5. I bought one when I had my touring bike and I swapped it out between the truck and the bike. Then I got a subscription to Spotify and also started using the Podcast Addict app and the Overdrive app, which lets you listen to audio books for free. Then I realized that I never listened to the XM anymore. The Spotify is $10 a month but the subscription allows you to download your music. With Spotify Free it uses your data if you don't have Wi-Fi. Plus you can listen to what you want when you want. I don't miss XM at all. XM was costing me $18.50 a month when I cancelled it.
  6. 9mm is fine, but since this happened in NY it's bound to be screwed up.
  7. Thank you. I had an experience at Riverside that would keep me from doing business with them again if I can keep from it. It may be an okay place to take your boat if you don't care how much it costs and want to use it some time next year. I called Clark while looking for a part recently and I was impressed by talking to them on the phone, that doesn't carry a lot of weight with me though. Franklin is a long way to drive but I don't mind it for good honest service.
  8. I'm going to have to break down and take my boat to a mechanic. I have to have the crankshaft seal replaced and it requires a special puller to do the job. I spoke with one local Mercury mechanic who I trust and know several people who have used him, he does not have the puller. There just aren't a whole lot of Mercury service centers in Nashville. There is at least one that I will not use due to a previous bad experience. I would like to know of any experiences that anyone has had, specifically with The Boat Locker, C.O. Marine in Gallatin, and Clark Marine. I'm in Mt. Juliet so I would like to keep it as close to here as possible but I'm willing to travel a bit to have it done by someone who is trustworthy and knows what they are doing. Also the motor, though it is a Mercury was made by Yamaha the best that I can find, don't know if a Yamaha dealer would service it or not. I haven't had any experience with Anderson Marine but I have talked to them on the phone a couple of times and they seem decent on the phone so I'd like to hear opinions on them as well.
  9. It's very hard to make a business succeed. I was fortunate enough to have 3 businesses when I was younger and didn't have a family. It was okay then, I wasn't getting rich by any means but as I grew a family I opted to go to work for someone else in order to have stability. It was one thing when there wasn't enough money to go around and I had to eat Ramen for a while, it's different when you can't buy things that your kids need. I miss the flexibility of being self employed more than anything. You are kind of your own boss but if you have any chance on succeeding then you know that the client is really the boss. I'm in the process of restarting one of my businesses back up now but it will strictly be a side venture to make a little money doing something that I enjoy doing.
  10. I think this is just the normal way that businesses operate these days. I've had issues in the past with a Suzuki motorcycle. It blew 2 motors within 3,000 miles the second incident because the first one wasn't done right. It was under warranty, but the warranty company (3rd party for Suzuki) didn't want to pay for the second rebuild until I threatened to get a lawyer involved. All the while I got the run around from 2 different dealerships. One which went out of business and locked their doors while they had my bike. More recently I've had issues with my boat. I can't even get a dealership to look at it. Called one dealership and they told me that their turn around time was 3 days. Dropped it off on Wednesday and was told then it would be the first of the week before they could look at it. Called the next Wednesday to check progress it.and was told it would be the next Tuesday before they could look at it. At that point I just picked it up. They didn't even care or ask me why. I'll happily stick with old stuff that I can work on. Screw all the stealerships.
  11. Very cool project. I enjoyed seeing your work, thanks for sharing!
  12. I haven't had much of a chance to pick up a camera in the last year or so but that is about to change. Got into Photoshop today to try to knock some rust off and cleaned up this picture I took of a rattlesnake a few years ago.
  13. After burying my little buddy back in January I will consider this option in the future. Felt like it took me forever to dig that hole.
  14. Probably cheaper to chuck it and buy a new one.
  15. Jeep...The Phoenix Arms of the automotive world.
  16. Can also grab a rag and smother the tail pipe.
  17. Quit worrying about it. Almost no one does anything that they say they will do any more. Especially a bunch of sissy liberals.
  18. Thanks Gordon, I WAS eating supper. I'll get back to it in a minute, fortunately I have a tough stomach.
  19. Glad to that you are doing well considering.
  20. As time goes by I like him more. He's the only candidate that we even have a chance of not putting a liberal majority on the Supreme Court.
  21. I have enough skills to find a place in such a society. OSA drove home the importance of having the skills and ability to preserve meat, which I know how to do. Besides that I can do a little bit of about anything. I can garden, I can hunt. I have mechanical abilities, I can build stuff. I have an ability to make due with what I have and I'm pretty well prepared for most anything that I have to deal with. I'm also very sneaky when need be. In short I have the ability to put food on the table, fix stuff, and provide security.
  22. I have one of those Lee stands new I the box that I'd love to get rid of. If you decide to go that way I make it out your way fairly often, I spooks be glad to bring it to you.
  23. The more liberals talk the more I believe liberalism is a mental disorder. I'm not even going to waste my time arguing with idiots like that.
  24. I believe it to be a limestone mine. It has long been abandoned.
